Watched the first two episodes last night and am enjoying it. Re the sex, view from our house was it was strategic sex but each thinking they're playing the other...

Is the shagging with the bullet proof vest on a bit like when you see the uber joggers with weighted vests to improve performance

I think he misunderstands what safe sex is. Especially considering he didn't appear to pause to put on a condom.

Wow this is a good series! I was unexpectedly riveted from the start - heart was in my mouth.

That definitely isn't a bullet proof vest.

Really enjoyed it, including the shagging, for purely artistic reasons Thought it really looked like the sort of dysfunctional shag where you're both doing it for different and non-horniness related reasons. The only thing about her being horrible to everyone was that it rarely seemed to be for a purpose. Most politicians imo are good at being pleasant to people so if they unleash the inner psychopath it's for finely judged reasons, not just to any old intern or the person who would have to take a bullet for you.

So the scarface guy wanted to terrify Julia M, and said she must be removed, but didn't seem bothered that the innocent driver was shot dead? Horrible.

Why did it take so long for back up vehicles to arrive? Was someone up high holding them back?

She did it because she wanted to ramp up the tension further so she can centralise power on herself. It's what the scarred face man says she was like as a lowly MP, and the sacked, female aid told both David and the journalist that she is like ("sociopath").

But backup DID take a while to arrive. When David radioed for help a couple of times and questioned why it was taking so long.

I suspect that they did hold assistance back - it would fit in with what David was told by his boss and Gina McKee.

Keeley Hawes is only 10 years older than Richard Madden. It's hardly grab a granny material. If an attractive 42 year old man slept with a 32 year old woman on a television show people wouldn't bat an eye

If KH’s character was 42 years old that would make her the youngest Home Secretary ever, so it’s possible that the character is a bit older - a well-preserved 46 perhaps. Madden is a bit babyfaced which exacerbates it.

Who cares how old they are as long as it’s legal and consensual? Which it was!

Asked police officer DH - It is a bullet proof vest, made thinner to be able to be worn under shirts for covert operations.

I can also confirm it is no fun watching a programme like this with a police officer due to them pointing out all the fucking errors.

In the episode when Dave/David/I answer to both was researching his new boss in Wiki it flashed up that her DOB is 1977 and KH was born in 1976, so not a huge difference in real and character age.

Wish there were a Close Protection Officer or Secret Services AMA thread on here.

I worked as a PA-type person to someone who had a PPO type person many years ago. Our PPO person would've been on to the union if we had made him stand around in the lobby giving everyone the side eye all day. It was tea with two sugars and the chocolate hobnobs. Mind you, our principal was a lady in her 70s wearing very sensible shoes. Might have been different with a Keeley Hawes.
