Ibiza is on Netflix, might have to watch, it is now on my list. Grin

'For those of you still on holiday from school and too thick to understand, Keeley Hawes is acting.'

Yes the character she is playing seems frumpy and the sex scene wasn't convincing. I'm not 'too thick' to understsnd, this is my opinion only. It's telly addicts, not aibu. I think you're getting a little carried away @actualpuffins

CarolDanvers · 29/08/2018 09:45

I thought the first sex scene was rather dull but why should they get everything out for the viewer? I thought maybe Keeley has it written in to her contract - no nudity. I thought the second one was much better and more natural and he is bloody lovely!

thegreylady · 29/08/2018 11:09

I do think Richard Madden looks like Ken as in Barbie and Ken but am loving the series.

KatieKat88 · 29/08/2018 11:15

I'm loving it, spent the scenes on the train/ with the school bomber/ assassination attempt watching from behind my fringe - nail-biting stuff. I bloody love KH - I always find her relatable but fascinating to watch. Love how Mercurio makes you trust no-one... I want to know who the ex-wife has started seeing in case they're related in some way (but I think I'm probably clutching at straws!)

Must re-watch LOD now...

OneOfTheGrundys · 29/08/2018 11:21

Ken! 😂 brilliant!

Todamhottoday · 29/08/2018 11:21

I found the sex scene cringe-worthy due to the fact I was hoping it was not going to get so predictable, but yes it was.

No rubbish about buying into any stereotypes.

ginandnappies · 29/08/2018 11:21

A bloody gorgeous Ken 😍

actualpuffins · 29/08/2018 11:54

I also thought the sex scene was appropriately acted for two people who are a bit awkward and slightly emotionally unavailable for different reasons.

TooTrueToBeGood · 29/08/2018 12:05

Can anyone explain the significance of David/Dave hiding the gun behind the classed wall please.

I wasn't sure. I've got three possibilities on my shortlist:

  1. He was hiding it better in case his flat got searched once/if they connected him with the sniper;
  2. It was his suicide gun but recent events have given him a reason to keep going;
  3. He was going to use it to kill the HS but has changed his mind, for the moment at least.
actualpuffins · 29/08/2018 12:32

I agree, TTTBG.

DoryNow · 29/08/2018 12:44

Yep def covering his tracks.

KnotsInMay · 29/08/2018 13:12

Where did he get that gun from?

One way or another it is 'anonymous' gun - but surely a thorough search of a flat includes looking behind panelling, especially recently re-grouted panelling.

Cuttingthegrass · 29/08/2018 14:08

Ah thank you TTTBG. All 3 make sense.

DoryNow · 29/08/2018 14:46

Knots Agree with you but I suspect we have to suspend belief on certains aspects of these things Grin

beanaseireann · 29/08/2018 14:51

I agree re freshly grouted panel long - a thorough search would be made.

hackmum · 29/08/2018 15:16

My thought about the gun was that he was shutting it away to remove temptation from himself. But I agree that TooTrue's suggestions also make sense.

DoryNow · 29/08/2018 15:26

Ah now hackmum that also makes sense with his struggle to control his PTSD

KnotsInMay · 29/08/2018 18:17

Yes to the possibility of the Hackmum Theory. He may have been very shaken by seeing his mate Scarface take such extreme action that he fears for himself.

Though a man who faces down a suicide bomber and fronts up to a sniper could presumably make short work of a bit of decorative panelling.

Gersemi · 29/08/2018 18:21

Surely if he wanted to remove the temptation to use the gun, he'd just get rid of it? Or at the very least put it in separate storage or something.

FermatsTheorem · 29/08/2018 21:19

Did feel the shagging scene was a bit cliched, though agree given what a good writer Mercurio is, it probably has some sort of purpose in the plot. The Telegraph review-with-spoilers did make me laugh, though: "All together now - and I I I I I will always love yooooouuuuuu."

The big action set-pieces - the train, the sniper, the luton van heading towards the school - have all been superb.

ScoobyGangMember · 29/08/2018 23:05

Re first shag: how come one minute she was in a blue blouse, and the next she was in an off white fluffy dressing gown? I can understand her taking her shirt off but why stop mid pash to put on a robe?

MissEliza · 29/08/2018 23:27

Brilliant series. There are a couple of niggles though like no way would David have left the Home Secretary to find the shooter. However Richard Madden is great and I love him ramping up hie accent to make him look like the stereotypical thought Glaswegian cop! The scene with his son in the car on the school run was so sad. He's a good guy who can't communicate his emotions.

Gersemi · 30/08/2018 07:00

I think the assumption is that the robe went on after the event.

topcat2014 · 30/08/2018 07:48

Is the shagging with the bullet proof vest on a bit like when you see the uber joggers with weighted vests to improve performance :)

Can't get the logistics of that one.

Great series though.

Gina Mckee will do more
