K-Drama recommendations

A K-drama thread was suggested on the Netflix subtitled gems thread so we can discuss in more depth without swamping the other thread. There are a lot of Korean films & boxsets on Netflix and I’m discovering the quality is variable, so I thought this would be a goid place to swap recommendations (and ‘avoids’). So far, I have hugely enjoyed:

• Something in the Rain
• Mr Sunshine (new episodes still dropping weekly)
• Live

Would also love to hear how closely these dramas represent real life in Korea from anyone who has lived there. Its fascinating learning about another culture.

If you compare the two clips JCW is considerable more buff with an extra tattoo in the shower scene so I reckon the shirt off scene was done early in filming as a promo.

Omg!! Why oh why is there a need for a naked shower scene fight!? I mean?.... It's just a bit too much and my feminist sensibilities start to kick in....!... Can you imagine if it was a shower scene full of lovely ladies?... It's bonkers!

I know you are talking about communal showers really, but I’m struggling to think of a workable alternative to naked showers. Maybe the quick kind you have in your bathers at the local pool.

I’m loving His Master’s Sun. The ML and FL have fantastic chemistry, the 2nd ML is great value and easy on the eye. The episodic ghost cases are a great device for moving the plot forwards without being too try hard and give space for soppy feeling on the part of the viewer. I’ve even got over the cheesiness of much of the action happening in a mall (great location cost-containment idea). Generally, it’s a lovely warm fuzzy hug of a show and funny in places too.

I should have made special mention of the chaebol aunt (Healer’s handler) and the idiot toyboy husband, who are great comedy value. The special porcelain vase is proving to be an enjoyable subplot.

Absolutely loving Healer! I LOVE these kdramas!... They're just soooo compelling and fun to watch...
Almost at the end now!..will give The K2 a watch next I think... Although it sounds a little too politically thrillery?... I like a bit of silliness... Romance??... Crazy family?... Office banter!?

Everytime I get hooked onto a new drama I think "this one is my fave!" but then I watch another and think.... "no! This one is my fave!"... Help!!..... 😂😁😉

I’ve finished Korean Odyssey now and I miss it so much! Started Where Stars Land but not overly into it yet, but dh likes it. Haven’t had the chance to watch Memories of the Alahambra yet so please keep the talk vague, I beg you!

Have quite got into the variety show Running Man. It’s lots of fun and one of the hosts is Kwang Soo (the lanky guy from Sound of Your Heart and It’s Ok That’s Love). I have a bit of a thing for him

Although I absolutely loved Healer... never thought I would say this about a Kdrama....but....I felt the ending was a little rushed.... everything just seemed to come together at the end....????

And.... I've gotten used to having a long stretched out epilogue... what happened to everyone in the story... I mean everyone.... but it just tied it up and it was done.... sigh.... they could have eeked it out a little longer...in a funny way, perhaps it was good that it didn't succumb to the usual-what i expect....it would have made it a little cheesy? out of character to what essentially was a thriller mystery,,,

and I feel a little better at swooning at JCW as he's a tad older than PHS / PSJ ... but only a tad!

here's a question for you all... I've found Fabricated City (JCW action movie) available for streaming on Amazon.com.... can we purchase films here in the UK from amazon.com to watch? planning my next Spiral!
