Telly addicts

I need an amazing, epic TV drama series I haven’t seen...

We are officially telly addicts and I think we’ve seen most things at this point. I’m worried there are no amazing, undiscovered things left and I’m really in need of something brilliant, multiple series etc.

Favourite series are The Shield, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Better Call Saul

We’ve seen most of the well known things I can think of (Mad Men, Sons Of Anarachy, ER, Halt and Catch Fire, Handmaids Tale all watched quite recently) and we’ve seen so much over the years I think we’ve bled TV dramas dry.

We have Netflix and prime but happy to get hold of other stuff too.

What’s amazing that you’ve seen and is maybe not quite as well known? I’ve heard Justified is good, anyone seen it?

The two big series I can think of that we haven’t watched fully are The Sopranos and West Wing - is West Wing a bit dated now? We did watch the first season or so of the Sopranos when Sky Atlantic started but then we stopped having Sky so it fell off the radar.

Game of Thrones I was put off by what I’d heard about rape scenes etc but there’s a reason it’s been so successful

Good wife and good fight

Happy Valley for something not American

West Wing due for a rewatch

Boardwalk Empire

Damages

A few I haven't seen mentioned yet, but you might well have already watched:

Bates Motel - absolutely brilliant.
Greys Anatomy - made me sob proper, ugly, snotty crying and howl with laughter. Sometimes in the same episode.
24 - gets a little silly towards the end but for me, I loved the characters so much I stuck with it.
The Crown - I'm no big royalist but I absolutely loved it.
Billions - fantastic, slick, clever.
This Is Us - quite possibly the most lovely, heartwarming thing I have ever watched.

Liked a New Zealand drama I think it was something about a lake
That’s Top of the Lake, two series with Elizabeth Moss.
Line of Duty from the beginning.
Or go retro and watch something like Tenko.

Ignore all these people who have not all immediately demanded you watch the Sopranos. Amazing.

Then Outlander and Tenko in agreement with pp.

Don't bother with Sons of Anarchy.

Thanks everyone - there’s a few things here I haven’t seen.

Must admit I have a soft spot for Sons of Anarchy, I liked the Shakespearean tragedy elements to it. I think that was the last thing I watched that I got really into, even though it’s quite cheesy in parts.

If anyone hasn’t seen The Shield you really, really must - absolutely perfect television.

West Wing is just one of those things that’s never been available to me easily so I’ve watched something else but I will definitely get hold of it. Sopranos too. Rectify sounds great, so that and Justify will go on my list too.

I’ve sadly seen most of the great suggestions here but there’s a few I’ll look up too :)

I can’t wait for more Billions, I absolutely love it!

On Amazon Prime

Goliath with billy bob Thornton - 2 series
Tin Star with Tim Roth
Ray Donovan with Liev Schrieber

I like dark dramas, the above all have great stories, lots of violence, sex, if you like that kind of thing!

Making a Murderer - absolutely fab TV.

Think most of the others have been said but Stranger Things was great and The OA also another fab Netflix one.

Why is nobody recommending Good Girls on Netflix? It's brilliant. Sadly only one series so far but really good.

Absolutely second a PP about the original Prime Suspect. We watched the first one again a couple of weeks ago. Still amazing.

Yy to West Wing. It's a bit cringey and earnest for the first few episodes but it settles down

We're really enjoying Marcella at the moment

Wild Wild Country was really engrossing

Glow is fab

Deutschland '83
No Offence
Ripper Street
This is Us
McMafia

Deutschland '83 and McMafia are both English subtitles but are both deffo brill

(German and Russian, Arabic, Spanish etc as they used different actors from various countries in the scenes, but we thought that made it much better)
