I need an amazing, epic TV drama series I haven’t seen...

We are officially telly addicts and I think we’ve seen most things at this point. I’m worried there are no amazing, undiscovered things left and I’m really in need of something brilliant, multiple series etc.

Favourite series are The Shield, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Better Call Saul

We’ve seen most of the well known things I can think of (Mad Men, Sons Of Anarachy, ER, Halt and Catch Fire, Handmaids Tale all watched quite recently) and we’ve seen so much over the years I think we’ve bled TV dramas dry.

We have Netflix and prime but happy to get hold of other stuff too.

What’s amazing that you’ve seen and is maybe not quite as well known? I’ve heard Justified is good, anyone seen it?

The two big series I can think of that we haven’t watched fully are The Sopranos and West Wing - is West Wing a bit dated now? We did watch the first season or so of the Sopranos when Sky Atlantic started but then we stopped having Sky so it fell off the radar.

I didn’t like the sound of the affair but I’ve never seen a programme so clever at skewering the vagaries of self biased memory - he telling of the story from each perspective in s1 so you compare and try and figure out the ‘truth’ is something I’ve never seen so well done before.

Vikings, outlander, the last kingdom all fab if you like period stuff.

The walking dead is amazing 😉

Given what you listed bet it would be right up your street. Think it fits your bill as amazing and undiscovered as hardly anyone in UK knows it! You'll have to get on Dvd though, we did (4 season box set). Totally worth it. It's really highly rated.

I am desperate to discuss it with someone so watch it and come back to me to tell me what you thought!

Outlander

My faves have been Broadchurch (was late to that and binged it - loved it!) the other one that springs to the mind is The Tunnel... AMAZING!

Oh and yes Line of Duty is brilliant as well - can’t wait for the next series

I loved Justified. Haven't yet seen all of it, but the first 3 seasons were really good. One day I'll get around to watching the rest.

Friday Night Lights is fantastic.

Sleepy Hollow is fun if you have Prime.

If you liked The Wire, have you seen Homicide:Life on the Streets? Quite old now but VERY good.

Also, if you have a soft spot for X-Files type stuff then maybe Kolchak: The Night Stalker. It's mostly ridiculous, quite often scary and really engrossing!

I have just zoned out everything else you've said as irrelevant out of complete shock that you haven't seen the West Wing. I'm torn between feeling totally appalled and hugely jealous. Ignore all other suggestions. Watch it all. Now.

You have probably seen Lucifer or Supernatural already.

The West Wing is dated but still brilliant. You should give it a go.

We absolutely loved Friday Night Lights, even though we know nothing about American football. It makes a misstep at the beginning of season 2 but recovers brilliantly. It's not dark like the series you mentioned, but we found it really compelling.

We also really enjoyed Justified, which I think is almost, but not quite, top class (it's not as consistent as it could be.) We are a couple of seasons in.

Has anyone mentions "Godless" yet?

That was a great TV show.

We are in the US and have finally started watching Poldark from the beginning. We were always waiting till all the family was available as the teens were busy during the school year. We are all addicted now and usually watch an episode a night around 9:30. It is fantastic with lots of strong female characters. Love all the costumes and era appropriate interiors and sets.

I watched The Sopranos last year, you have to watch out as it is very addictive.

The original Prime Suspect series with Helen Mirren.
Game of Thrones.

Alias Grace on Netflix was fantastic. And I’d add another vote for Outlander.
