GrinDave he would ,Percy reminds me so much of my Grandad in looks, who was also a cook during WW2 although not as irritating as Percy!

x2boys · 11/05/2019 21:46

It also amuses me that they refer to each other as Mrs Bishop and Mr Sugden despite living together for years,my Paternal Grandmother always referred to her best friend as "Mrs Malloy"and her friend referred to her as "Mrs O,Shea (not real names) they lived in the same street for over 40 years and had both emigrated from Ireland around the same time, maybe a generational thing?

DixieLandReject · 11/05/2019 22:14

Yes what was the weird slow motion thing? Confused

LeatherFace · 11/05/2019 22:15

Joining back in after a while were my recorder didn’t work, what year have we made it to?

DixieLandReject · 11/05/2019 22:21

1992

ConfCall · 11/05/2019 23:58

My grandmother had a close friend/neighbour called Mrs Lewis. They confided in each other about all sorts of things and often had a cup of tea together in the local cafe, but were never on first name terms.

The acting is so good in Classic Corrie. Great dialogue too. I stopped watching modern CS two months ago and I don’tmiss it.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 12/05/2019 09:40

I think that Victoria Wood must have taken ideas from Corrie for dinnerladies (she certainly used many of the cast!). When Percy talks about making gravy under shell fire, it always reminds me of Stan talking about his dad's heroic cooking efforts during the war.

MrsSteveMcDonald · 13/05/2019 11:03

I've finally caught up! Got really far behind again and avoided this thread as I didn't want any spoilers.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 13/05/2019 17:30

Racquel has begun to simper.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 14/05/2019 07:04

Lots of weird camera angles this morning. Don't & Julie through the kitchen window, close up shots of Mike's cigar and the statue and crucifix in Ivy's house Confused

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 14/05/2019 07:05

Don and Julie

EdithWeston · 14/05/2019 07:06

Julie was in series 1 of Luther. It's weird seeing her in this

x2boys · 14/05/2019 19:53

I.read they has a new producer in 1992, maybe they were trying to be arty with the odd camera shots?I remember getting free tickets from night clubs on my 18th like Andy and Steve do night clubs still do that?

justthecat · 15/05/2019 15:10

Oh no, they’re doing the “effects” again 😲

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 15/05/2019 17:02

I reckon 'Don't and Julie' is quite apt, given what is going to happen to Don shortly.

Housewife2010 · 16/05/2019 11:44

I loved this morning's episodes. There are so many good storylines at the moment. Double ancient Coronation Street sets me up for day.

HelenaDove · 17/05/2019 03:24

@x2boys Yep i got tickets too.

I also got a birthday card from the council.

A few days later they sent me my first poll tax demand
I was 18 in 1991.

x2boys · 17/05/2019 06:02

@HelenaDoveGrin how nice of the council!😂

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 17/05/2019 15:18
