Last thread is nearly full.

Is anyone else really feeling sorry for Kimberly? Curly won't leave her alone about sleeping together!!!

kikashi · 19/11/2018 17:41

Mike Baldwin dancing Grin and his back chat to the DJ.

clowdyweewee · 19/11/2018 18:08

I thought that about Kimberley, Yoyooo. Curly is a sex pest and need to eff off.

kikashi · 19/11/2018 19:47

It's horrible. I'd forgotten about Curly and Kimberley. They haven't been in the Rovers of late either.

Tetrapanex · 20/11/2018 14:34

I read online that Kimberley wasn’t in it from the August until the December as the actress was on maternity leave. However as we get 10 episodes a week I barely noticed her missing Grin

Iwantacampervan · 20/11/2018 15:43

Rosie Webster is born!

Tetrapanex · 20/11/2018 19:26

THe strangest birth ever! Nobody appeared to actually be holding the baby after she was born. I assume she was dangling into the taxi footwell

AamdC · 21/11/2018 09:16

Well not quite as Daphne giving birth whilst still wearing tights in neighbours but yes i was thinking the same TetrapanexGrin i wish my very own Xmas baby had arrived as quick as Sallys , a few pains and a couple of pushes and all done and dusted within ten minutes , in my case my waters broke on the 23rd and finally after much intervention ds1 was born at 5.50am on the boxing day!Hmm

TheEfficientBaxter · 21/11/2018 09:35

I always thought that David Platt and Rosie Webster were both born on Christmas Day 1990!

Am I completely wrong? I haven't watched yesterday's or Monday's episodes yet, so I may have missed something!

Iwantacampervan · 21/11/2018 09:40

Rosie was born Christmas Eve, David on Christmas Day - so today!

TheEfficientBaxter · 21/11/2018 12:09

Oh, thankyou, Iwantacampervan!

I wasn't too wide of the mark then, was I?

(BTW, my phone suggested this 🚐 when I typed campervan!)

Kannet · 21/11/2018 14:53

I'm just catching up. I can't get over how uncomfortable Steph and des sofa looks. It's like a park bench with a cushion

OP posts:
AamdC · 21/11/2018 16:28

Did Ken not notice Adam whilst he was visiting Susan?

clowdyweewee · 21/11/2018 17:22

I hadn't noticed the Barnes' settee but the Barlows have a padded bench. I think they still have it!

TheEfficientBaxter · 21/11/2018 19:47

Just watched the Sally-in-labour episode and realised that Kevin must have a cellular/mobile phone in his breakdown wagon.

Bit posh for 1990! Didn't calls used to cost about £1000 a minute back then ShockGrin !!

Iwantacampervan · 22/11/2018 07:39

David was smiling - first and last time!

kikashi · 22/11/2018 19:30

Kimberley's dad had more than a touch of Wallace from Wallace and Gromit about him. Horrid, horrid story line with Curly pestering Kimberley for sex and getting over excited in the canteen bleurgh!

Agree with others that Sally's labour was ridiculous in the extreme! I would have thought that Kev's cabin might have a radio receiver (like cabs) but not a mobile phone!

HelenaDove · 23/11/2018 01:34

The Christmas episodes with the Duckworths Alec Gilroy and the dog were hilarious.

I dont watch the current up to date episodes but it does show how much the soaps have changed over the years. Now it would probably be a kidnapping storyline or a robbery storyline.

kikashi · 23/11/2018 08:14

Helena I thought that too. A few years back (in the mid 80's) the ones that were shown at Xmas always seemed to have a good old sing song in t'Rovers around the piano with a lot of life and camaraderie. All so dreary and depressing these days.

Angela looks like she's on the scene again in Derek's life (although we haven't seen her).

I thought MIke and Alma played the break up scene well. There were pauses and Alma trying to do the "pick me" dance for the past few weeks seemed more true to life than the affairs they have in the soap now that you blink and miss such as Johnny/Jenny/LIz.

cherrytree63 · 23/11/2018 08:32

I was really surprised that Vera took to the dog (until he ate the turkey lol), she never struck me as being an animal lover.
I don't remember Curly as being such a dick, but maybe he grows up by the time I started watching Corrie, which was around '91 when I was bored on maternity leave.
Poor Alma. But although I think Mike has behaved outrageously I did have the tiniest smidgen of sympathy for him (I'm too soft for my own good).
Ivy is awful.
Still love Bet and Alec, Bet's much softer than I remember.
I'm curious as to how Ken and Deirdre reunite, there's an awful lot of ugliness to get over.

kikashi · 23/11/2018 09:03

cherry Bet is an awful lot softer and kinder than I remember too. I really like Alec this time round but remember being irritated back in the day. With Jackie and MIke we know that Mike isn't in love with Jackie (given his facial expressions when she wanted more of his time and body shudder) I think he genuinely is really very, very fond of Alma I'm not sure he can really love someone though, too obsessed with himself and making it big.

I did laugh when Boomer chased Vera and Jack up the stairs! Ivy at the hospital was dreadful, just dreadful reminds me of my mil and the poisonous comments (although she was careful to drip the poison when we were without other adults in the room)

Kannet · 23/11/2018 14:47

Funny to see ken talking about visiting Susan. She hid the baby well

bebesequin · 25/11/2018 08:45

This is my guilty pleasure.
Dont watch current soaps - no time or inclination.
However sneak in a classic corrie every morning with my coffee before I leave to catch the train.
Also can't believe these were 28 years ago - storylines are much better then than now. Great character acting.

southeastdweller · 25/11/2018 19:32

Please can someone tell me what happened in the last two episodes that were shown on Friday? Are we in 1991 yet?

AamdC · 25/11/2018 20:02

Wr are southeast just Ken contemplated taking an overdose ut but Bet saved him Dreary came back from paris and has cleared the air with Ken and there is a little spark betweenn Ken and Alma?
