Where they only just "discover" at Monica and chandlers wedding that Joey has "freakishly small feet!" Confused

7 years of living all together as friends and they just discover this now!

Is there anything which bothers you about the show or is it just me? Grin

Mike in the last season.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 04/08/2018 15:52

It’s how the whole princess conseula banana hammock started. She found out she could change her name to ANYTHING.

Batteriesallgone · 04/08/2018 17:21

I didn’t think Monica was a bitch. I think Phoebe showed very little thanks, appreciation or understanding of the work involved in her ‘big wedding’ which she said she wanted.

StealthPolarBear · 04/08/2018 17:22

Ah yes I remember.

StealthPolarBear · 04/08/2018 17:22

And Rachel's birthday. Ice and cups

Batteriesallgone · 04/08/2018 18:21

Ice and cups was hilarious!

It was really important to the show that Monica be an intense hostess. If she wasn’t the group would have fallen apart. Her apartment was always the centre of things.

icelollycraving · 04/08/2018 18:39

Can you imagine the shopping bills?! People just dropping in all the time for breakfast/dinner/drinks etc

Sevendown · 04/08/2018 19:33

Monica’s wedding was so bland!

I think the writers wrote Emily as so annoying because she messed up their planned storyline by becoming pregnant irl.

Her episodes had to be cut and the last few she’s in you can tell they are hiding her belly.

I think pasty passed on it due to pregnancy too.

Chandlers’ yo yo weight is so much more noticeable when you binge watch them.

They do write it into a couple of episodes but then later don’t mention it.

He really didn’t look well and I think he’ll be the first to die irl.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/08/2018 20:17

It's most noticeable when they get engaged in the last episode of season 6. The first episode of season 7 takes place just minutes after but he's dropped about a stone in those few minutes!

hamandpease · 04/08/2018 20:18

Ooo @Sevendown how was the Emily story supposed to go?

FrayedHem · 04/08/2018 20:37

This is the thread for me!

Ross did ask to move back to the top-table but Monica tells him Ben is enjoying whatever the meal for the adults was.

I wasn't a fan of Emily, or that wedding at all, apart from Hugh Laurie on the plane with Rachel.

Phoebe also has a moving birthday. When she meets Frank Junior, his is in October and hers if February? I think. But in the One where everyone is late Phoebe's is in October.

There's only one episode I skip or will switch off, and that's when Chandler and Joey take baby Ben out and get off the bus without him. Then bring the wrong baby home. I'm not sure why it annoys me more intensely than the other stretch of the imagination episodes, but it really does!

NextInLine · 04/08/2018 21:01

It really annoys me that they reuse the ‘someone has to carry on the family name’ joke that Joey says. It’s in two different seasons.

OraangeSoda · 04/08/2018 22:11

They don’t bring the wrong baby home do they? [confused

FrayedHem · 04/08/2018 22:14

No you're right their dithering over which is the right baby but do pick Ben

fieldmuse · 04/08/2018 22:16

I hate that one too.

MadMags · 04/08/2018 22:38

Any episode with the monkey.

Fucking ridiculous storyline.

Hygge · 04/08/2018 22:54

"I find the one where Monica invited herself as Ross's plus 1 to their cousins wedding where she wasn't invited (because it turned out she'd slept with the groom) cringeworthy.

I don't get why the bride wouldn't just invite Monica though because it's not like she slept with the groom recently, it was probably years and years ago."

What annoys me about this episode is that you would think she would recognise the grooms name and realise that's why she wasn't invited.

And if she somehow didn't even see an invitation or ask the grooms name beforehand, the cousin must have known that someone would mention it to her eventually.

Phoebe's birth annoys me. Would they really just let her go into a natural labour with triplets or let a crazy doctor loose on her? Wouldn't it be a higher risk and possibly early birth they monitored carefully and even scheduled an induction or c-section for?

I think that Rachel was meant to be self-centred and self-absorbed when she was younger and when she arrived after escaping her wedding.

She had lost touch with Ross and Monica, and although she had met Chandler once or twice before when he came home from college with Ross, they both looked very different (Rachel's nose, Chandler's hair) although you would expect her to remember Monica cutting his toe off.

I think they just didn't recognise each other when they met again. They both looked very different, Chandler had grown up a lot, Rachel was changing her values, and I don't think they were on each others radars in the earlier years.

If we can go into other TV shows with annoying continuity, Frasier's Dad Martin says in one of the earlier episodes "I never had a brother" and then we meet his brother a couple of seasons later, married to the Greek lady who is angry at Frasier. It annoys me every time. They knew this was going to be a massive show (Phoebe from Friends was cast as Roz but then they decided she wasn't right and cast the other actress instead) and they can't even keep track of a family tree. And they keep mentioning all these other aunts and uncles without explaining how they are related. And they make a joke about their mum saying a "handshake is as good as a hug" implying she was reserved and cold but then show her as warm and loving in other episodes when they talk about or remember her.

And in Everybody loves Raymond their house is completely different in the pilot episode to the others, and his sons have different names. I know why they changed the names but it still seems weird.

HoosierDaddy · 05/08/2018 08:33

More niggles!

In Barbados they have mighty craic listening at the walls to hear Joey/Rachel and Ross/Charlie but Ross's room totally changes - when he loses his speech on laptop the room faces opposite direction to when he and Charlie get together. And the wall/door in Monica's room doesn't fit with the layout of his, to have a joining wall.

Pp mentioned Ross's granny's ring... would Carol not have had it as her engagement ring?

FrayedHem · 05/08/2018 12:19

Yes, the Barbados rooms were strange! Though I love those episodes as silly as they are.

Nanna/Judy's mum died after Carol and Ross were married, so that could account for Carol not having the ring. Emily's wedding ring was also a family heirloom. Poor Monica not getting either!

At Monica's wedding, I thought it was weird a choice of Phoebe's fake pregnancy father to be Barbra Streisand's husband, James Brolin, as Elliot Gould (Jack Geller) was once married to Barbra Streisand.

The reused "family name" joke reminded me of a couple of others. There's an episode wear Joey realises he's wearing two belts, then when he's playing the WW1 character opposite Gary Oldman, the Gary Oldman character is drunk and he realises he's wearing two belts.

Also in a very early episode when Rachel is waitressing and she drops a bun? in a customer's hood, Ross rescues it pretending he is having some kind of mental health episode - claiming to hear buzzing and swatting his ears with his hands. He does the same bit when he's had too much Maple Candy.

Timeisslippingaway · 05/08/2018 13:07

Hygge

Sorry to change the thread but why did they change the names and the twins in everybody loves Raymond? I've always wondered.

Hygge · 05/08/2018 13:08

The Barbados rooms really annoyed me because they had doors that couldn't possibly go where they went.

Timeisslippingaway · 05/08/2018 13:11

In one of the flashback episodes Chandler and Rachael "make out" so I'm not sure how the wouldn't remember each other, but then that always happens with pilot episodes.

Hygge · 05/08/2018 13:14

@Timeisslippingaway - they originally used the names of all three of Ray Romano's real children (Ally, Gregory, and Matthew) but he felt that was going a bit far for the programme, so although they kept Ally's name, they changed the twins names to Geoffrey and Michael instead.

Apparently Ray Romano's real brother wasn't overly keen on Robert's character too, so it sounds like it was all very close to real life, so perhaps he thought his children would appreciate a bit of separation.

Deadringer · 05/08/2018 13:20

I hated all of the episodes with the monkey in them.

Timeisslippingaway · 05/08/2018 13:20

Ahh I see, I had no idea.
