Where they only just "discover" at Monica and chandlers wedding that Joey has "freakishly small feet!"

7 years of living all together as friends and they just discover this now!

Is there anything which bothers you about the show or is it just me?

Also i dont think Barry is a paticularly attractive man, yet he was engaged to Rachel and sleeping with Mindy but also used to get it on with Amy too when Rachel was asleep??.

We like spotting the bad continuity shots. Once you start though, it's hard to stop.

No, her stepdad wasn't able to get out of jail to walk her down the aisle. They kind of forgot about her birth mum and dad being introduced in previous seasons.

I lost touch with my secondary school best friend almost as soon as we left school. I have only vague recollections of what her sisters looked like despite going to family events. If I had bumped into her sister’s school best friend in a bar when I was 25 I would never have recognised her! I don’t find that difficult to believe at all.

The Ross medical miracle / contraception thing bothered me too. I wondered if the whole ‘medical miracle’ thing was just a cover for ‘he was a clever boy and you were a fat girl, so obviously he was the favourite’.

The births annoyed me but whenever I talk to American friends about birth they do seem to involve going to hospital as soon as you get any signs at all, hours and hours at hospital only having ice chips, and a whole rugby team of people deciding to turn up and see how it’s going

I think that film acting is about good editing. If you get anyone to say the same lines over and over, eventually you'll get a cut that is acceptable. Friends was filmed in front of a live studio audience so there would be a limit to the amount of re-takes possible.

It makes me think that most film actors must be utterly shite. Given how many genuinely briliant and talented stage actors/actresses there are who barely get work its a travesty.

I saw Keira Knightley in a play in the West End and to be honest, if I'd been told she was an amateur I wouldn't have been surprised. IMO she was attrocious. I was really shocked how bad it was.

Having seen her on stage, I'm completely convinced that the fact that she was able to turn in a performance that is vaguely half way decent in anything has to be about lots of takes and world class editing.

Things that annony me about Friends:

David the Science Guy and Phoebe should totally have ended up together.

The episode with Monica's messy cupboard that no one has ever seen in annoys the hell out of me as in the first series the door is often open and just looks dark inside.

Ross having lived in NY for years and in academia takes a job that is in a building on the other side of town but apparently has no idea. I mean get real - you would know where the univeristy campus buildings were even ifonly roughly. (the one where he roller skates between classes)

@GlacierMints I saw Keira in The Children's Hour (with Elisabeth Moss IIRC) and she was very good. They both were.

I find the one where Monica invited herself as Ross's plus 1 to their cousins wedding where she was invited (because it turned out she'd slept with the groom) cringeworthy.

I don't get why the bride wouldn't just invite Monica though because it's not like she slept with the groom recently, it was probably years and years ago.

But still, if your not invited to a wedding you don't just turn up as your brothers plus 1 and then make a scene!

Someone way upthread suggested it was unlikely Rachel would tell Ross and go to a doctors appointment and get her first early scan the same day. I don't see why not with the US health system?

Another medical related thing that confuses me in Friends and American TV shows. Why are the pregnant women always at their doctors appointment in stirrups? In my two pregnancies, I’ve never had to have an intimate exam. So what are these doctors doing at the early appointments?

An early transvaginal ultrasound I assumed?

Ross was on top table but he switched his place setting card to be on the same table as mona. Only he picked up table number 6 thinking mona was table 6 only he had been reading it upside down so it was actually table 9.

You would have thought Monica would say "hey brother why are you not on top table and who is this random child in your place?" 🤔 Especially has she was so anal about everything to do with the wedding.

That kids table thing was so lazy. Clearly it would be so easy to say oh some cards got mixed up.

If they had just had him turning up at the kids table and then getting out of it in a funny way while staring wistfully at table 9 it would have been funny but I think the writers couldn’t be bothered.

Re Erica having unexpected twins, when they said the second baby was on its way she said something about being told there was a second heartbeat, but she had assumed that it was her own. She was meant to be a bit thick iirc.

Helen baxendale as Emily was excruciating to watch - anyone else find that?

Going through the thread with repeated rebuttals in my mind and metaphorically biting my tongue but...

"I also found it odd that they made Monica and chandler adopt yet Courtney cox was pregnant in real life so could have easily made them have a baby in the show." Courtney cox was dealing with recurrent mc at this point and as a result the show makers decided it was unfair to expect her to act a pregnant character while going through that. That's why the infertility and adoption storyline was created. Then lovely irony Courtney maintains pregnancy with daughter coco and they have to work around that.

I agree that Helen Baxendale was excruciating to watch as Emily. She seemed so fake.
I'm just watching them all from the beginning currently on series 3! Loads to get through but I remember them so clearly.
