Where they only just "discover" at Monica and chandlers wedding that Joey has "freakishly small feet!" Confused

7 years of living all together as friends and they just discover this now!

Is there anything which bothers you about the show or is it just me? Grin

wasn't in nearly enough pain leading up to 10cm

I wouldnt call being stuck with Janice not enough painGrin

detdet · 30/07/2018 23:30

I think Ross tucking her into the sheets annoyed me Grin

DaisyDreaming · 31/07/2018 00:44

I was watching the episode today when Chandler who I think of as a nice character, pretends to be Bob on the phone and then steps in when the woman is stood up so he can sleep with her. It annoys me that he did that as I think better of him

DaisyDreaming · 31/07/2018 00:51

The pregnancy test always annoyed me that magically she was pregnant within a few hours.

The fact rachel could of stayed on the plane AND come back and been with Ross

I wish carol had stayed in it, I liked her and Susan but they vanish.

Things like the Christmas party when the heat gets stuck on, where are all those friends from? Same for Rachel’s birthday

Also the rachel being distressed at turning 30 thing seemed funnier when I was 20!

I always felt bad for Janice what was so bad about her? I'm probably going to get proved wrong as I have watched for years but apart from an annoying laugh she was alright from memory and Chandler treated her like shit. She'd get loads of LTB on here I thing Wink

YerAuntFanny · 31/07/2018 01:06

Ross's inconsistent birthday.

The only full date we ever heard was October 18th.
Then he told Gunther it was December.
Then when he was offered hockey tickets for his birthday in October his birthday was 7 months earlier (so March).

itswinetime · 31/07/2018 01:11

Oh and when joey and chandler loose Ben on a bus!! I don't remember the details but Ross stayed friends with them and no one investigates! At least that's my memory!

starsandstuff · 31/07/2018 01:13

That at the beginning Joey was this sexy but dumb guy who got all the women, but as it progressed he got stupider and stupider til he was practically learning impaired, and had also got older and fatter, but still pulled all these hot women - including Rachel - who wouldn't have looked twice at him.

DaisyDreaming · 31/07/2018 06:22

I find joey as time goes on annoying with how dim they make him, the letter to the adoption agency to him learning French. As someone said he went from dim to what could be classed as a learning disability

dustarr73 · 31/07/2018 10:15

@itswinetime i loved Janice. She was great. But to be fair her laugh and OMG.Would get on anyones tits especially when you are in labour.

And she did cheat on Chandler with her ex husband.

dingdongdigeridoo · 31/07/2018 10:30

Rachel’s birth is annoying because she sits on her arse moaning that it’s not going fast enough. Surely if you were 2cm they’d tell you to go for a walk or even go home for a few hours? They only discover the baby is breech at the last minute, and she spends the whole of the labour on her back in stirrups. No wonder she had such a tough time pushing.

There you go, found something to annoy people when they watch that scene!

detdet · 31/07/2018 10:40

Thankyou @dingdongdigeridoo Grin

Mike was still one of the best characters though! Grin

OP posts:
detdet · 31/07/2018 10:50

Mike was lovely.

Which reminds me that Ross pretending to be Vikram with faux Indian accent was pretty shit!

POPholditdown · 31/07/2018 10:54

The only plot hole that has bothered me for years is Phoebe eating the meat lasagna, in The Dozen Lasagnas. I’m sure she’s established as a veggie early on.

bananaberyl · 31/07/2018 10:59

"I got off the plane"

I still cry every time I see that episode!

Groovee · 31/07/2018 11:03

I dislike when Rachel is with Bruce Willis and Ross with Elizabeth and they all go to the beach house.

POPholditdown · 31/07/2018 11:04

Slightly off topic, but I get annoyed when people complain about how offensive Friends is, yet you have a show like Big Bang (which is still running and so more relevant to today’s society) is full of gay jokes, racist jokes, ‘geeks’ are laughed at, pretty ‘promiscuous’ dumb girl jokes, fat jokes, speech impediments are funny, probably lots of other stuff.

I watch both of them either way, it’s just tele! But I find it weird they have the exact same themes but one is terrible and the modern version is fine.

TinyRick · 31/07/2018 11:05

Pretty sure Chandler's dad is an old school drag queen rather than trans. His name was Helena Handbasket and they worked in Vegas.

Agree with how they made Joey stupid by the end. He was fine for the first 6/7 seasons.

I hate how Chandler became a complete creepy sex pest from when he got with Monica onwards.

And soooo much porn/strippers throughout the show.

dingdongdigeridoo · 31/07/2018 11:27

It annoys me too POPholditdown. Happens a lot with older TV shows now. When they go onto streaming there will inevitably be a load of articles moaning that Sex and the City or How I Met Your Mother are actually really problematic, with a few out of context quotes to back up their point. I can’t think of a single show that doesn’t have off colour jokes now and again.

LikeIDo1 · 31/07/2018 11:34

Groove yes to Rachel being with Bruce Willis's character Paul.

In the episode where Paul cries and cries, he starts crying when they are talking about going for dinner so evening time. Then at some point Paul says "we established 14 hours ago that was exactly what my father was trying to do.."

It annoys me because 14 hours ago? So now it's the morning? Everyone has been up all night? Rachel is still talking about going for some food? Arghhh so many questions!!

LikeIDo1 · 31/07/2018 11:36

I'm not really talking about the shows offensive nature because it's of it's time. I'm more lightheartedly talking about the shows plot holes/inconsistencies!

OP posts:
POPholditdown · 31/07/2018 11:59

Sorry that wasn’t at you OP! It was a pp who mentioned that stuff, and it’s always mentioned on Friends threads that ‘it wouldn’t be accepted today’.

I still love it, plot holes, poor taste jokes an all Grin

Annabelle4 · 31/07/2018 12:02

Another thing I've noticed, watching it now as an adult...

Phoebe is a complete b*tch Shock

VickieCherry · 31/07/2018 12:08

Phoebe ate meat while she was pregnant, was the lasagne during that season?

I think people forget how different the 90s really were. Friends was quite revolutionary for a primetime TV show - lesbians! Women having casual sex without repercussions! Close male friendships! There is a reason it was so popular then, and remains so today. Some of it does seem very dated now, and the jokes (especially gay jokes) can be cringeworthy, but at the time it was incredibly modern.
