Well, it's not long now until the US open- I need to sort out the whole Amazon thing. It won't be the same.

He's come a long way since the beginning of the year, Jane- he didn't seem to be able to do anything right then.

I don't think they did fill it up every day or even close !!

Fizzywinegum · 19/08/2018 23:21

I really like Mark Rylance Raahh - he was great in Wolf Hall - would love to see him on stage.

I think our extra curricular discussions show how interesting this match has been Smile

JaneJeffer · 19/08/2018 23:23

Novak looked so wild eyed and unhappy for a long time and he seems way more relaxed now.

JaneJeffer · 19/08/2018 23:26

I forgot how ugly the Cincinnati trophy is.

Novak thanking Roger for letting him win Grin

PrivateParkin · 19/08/2018 23:37

Jane it's an awful trophy isn't it? I saw a promo video of Dimitrov visiting the place where they make them - so presumably the lucky winner gets to keep it for his mantelpiece?!

JaneJeffer · 19/08/2018 23:38

Lucky them Grin I wonder what else they make.

PrivateParkin · 19/08/2018 23:40

I think Djokovic does seem more relaxed than when he won the french, although he was very stressy against cilic, chucking his towel around etc. I think he looks a bit more... weary? as well. But he has to be favourite for the US Open i think?

Fizzywinegum · 20/08/2018 11:36

Private I agree that Djokovic is up there with the favourites for the us open but I’m still hoping that Rafa or Delpo will come out on top. Not sure about Riger after watching him last night - he seemed quite tentative and made a lot of errors.

Will be interesting to see how the likes of Tsitsipas and Zverev fare at the us open.

I think Djokovic seems a bit happier but he can soon switch into having a tantrum. He does sometimes still have that hollow eyed look about him - he’s also quite skinny - maybe he’s just hungry and needs to stay off the weird juices.

Raahh · 20/08/2018 11:53

I've been reading about the match this morning, and the consensus was that Roger didn't play well really, and Djok was probably only at 50%. A more relaxed Novak is a danger (as proved at Wimbledon), as he hasn't got anything to prove really- except to himself. And he's got nothing to defend- so he's in a very solid position.

I hope Delpo has a good run, and it has been great to see that Stan seems to be finding form.

I'm not sure Rafa will be able to replicate last year- he's had a long season, but he's been playing well. It will depend on the draw, I think.

And yy- interesting to see how the younger players step up- they seem to be running out of steam quicker than the older ones. Grin

I hope Stan does well. It's great to see him improving.

So annoying that it won't be on TV.

PrivateParkin · 20/08/2018 15:15

Fizzy I really hope for Rafa or Delpo as well. Roger looked a bit off the pace yesterday.

Yes that could be right re Djokovic - perhaps he's just hangry!! Grin

Does he still have that "guru" helping him?! Grin

PrivateParkin · 20/08/2018 16:05

Well he's just tweeted that angels helped him win Cincinnati so I guess he is still getting some spiritual guidance! Grin

Raahh · 20/08/2018 16:18

Angels?

Righty-ho, then Grin

The more I see pictures of that ugly vase/trophy thing on FB, the more I think the organisers in Cincinnati must be having a laugh. Grin. It really is gruesome. Looks like the sort of thing my granny used to have- probably with gladioli in it.

But I bet it's worth a fortune or plastic Grin

It's amazing how much cleaning I get done when there's no tennis on

Raahh · 21/08/2018 16:15

My dc are still off school, and underfoot. As is the dog. This is my excuse for being as lazy untidy as usual.

I saw pictures of Rafa practising, he was mentioning playing on the Children's day at the weekend.

DS2 is off to Secondary school on Friday. DS1 isn't back at college until the 10th. I don't know how we will get back into a routine. Everything has gone to pot Grin

PrivateParkin · 21/08/2018 16:33

Jane you're v good doing the cleaning! Our house is a tip atm which makes it hard to clean properly. We are in the middle of a big clear out - hopefully with a view to moving house in the near-ish future - but it's kind of getting worse before it gets better.

I saw a random thing on t'internet yesterday saying Delpo is (or maybe he's already done it) going to do some coaching via face time for an astronaut who's playing a tennis match in space or something Confused I read it late at night and at first I thought Delpo was actually going into orbit himself Grin but he isn't, I was pleased to hear!!

JaneJeffer · 21/08/2018 16:38

Space tennis?? How will the ball bounce without gravity? Confused

PrivateParkin · 21/08/2018 16:39

Jane Grin omg I didn't think of that - maybe I've got it all totally wrong?!?

PrivateParkin · 21/08/2018 16:40

I had to Google it again spacetennis

JaneJeffer · 21/08/2018 16:44

DS1 is asking what I'm laughing at Grin

PrivateParkin · 21/08/2018 16:47

Grin I read the article again and I still don't get it - they kind of glossed over the gravity thing...
