Poor Marin- I agree, the momentum shift with the rain delay definitely contributed to his loss. I like Cilic.

Commentators need to learn when to shut up. It's why I was pleasantly surprised by Murray's commentary during the Rafa/Delpo match at Wimbledon- he didn't really say much- but what he said, was pertinent. I don't mind the odd anecdote- but constant rambling, or very biased commentary gets on my nerves.

I don't think Marin would suffer from getting a new clothing sponsor tbh. I'm not sure about this shirt he's wearing at all. It's a bit Isner-esque.

PrivateParkin · 16/08/2018 23:33

Sorry for wittering, am worse than the commentators.

Raahh · 16/08/2018 23:34

ooh- what's he wearing? Not stripes?? Grin

(I don't mind rambling, I'm the worst for it!)

Raahh that's so true about Andy - he definitely knew the power of saying nowt, that's for sure.

There is a lot of rambling in this match. They might have mentioned tennis, I'm not sure.

PrivateParkin · 16/08/2018 23:36

Yes it's stripes! Blue, white and navy. And luminous yellow shoes Hmm

PrivateParkin · 16/08/2018 23:36

Aw they are playing Aretha Franklin at the change of ends. RIP Aretha Halo

Raahh · 16/08/2018 23:37

As I cannot watch the tennis, I am amusing myself watching an ancient episode of 'Tales of the Unexpected'. The acting is diabolical. And it's nowhere near as creepy as I remember itGrin.

Ooh here comes Novak. Might switch over to that soon.

PrivateParkin · 16/08/2018 23:39

Raahh I can offer waffly updates but that's my limit!

Haha I love Tales of the Unexpected Grin Last night when the tennis was rained off and while nodding off, I ended up watching The Holiday, the cheesy Christmas film which I secretly like for some reason

Raahh · 16/08/2018 23:40

Stripes! Just makes Isner make look like a stretched 4 year old. Grin

Aww, R.I.P ArethaSad.

It's strange- she was only 76- Madonna was 60 today (I remember her birthday, because it's dd1's today as well)- but those 16 years make them worlds apart musically.

What do you think of this Davis Cup business Raahh? I'm not convinced.

Raahh · 16/08/2018 23:43

Private I am very excited by the fact it's not that long until the 24 hour Christmas channel starts up again. (Usually the beginning of October!!)

I love cheesy crap US Christmas films. They all have the same plot. Grin

Ah happy birthday mini-Raahh Cake hope she had a good day.

They've switched over to Djokovic now - this is probably going to be the better match, tbh.

PrivateParkin · 16/08/2018 23:46

Omg Raahh I absolutely love those made for TV Christmas films!! I live for them in the run up to Christmas Grin

My favourite is the one where there is a taxi driver who is actually Father Christmas

PrivateParkin · 16/08/2018 23:49

These courts are so squeaky - maybe from the rain?! All you can hear is squeaking! It's like listening to a pair of rodents playing each other Grin

Raahh · 16/08/2018 23:51

Private I read earlier in the year that they were considering these changes- and I'm not convinced either. Another tournament at the end of the year, when the players are already knackered? That sounds like a good idea. Hmm.

And the February bit is surely too close to the Aussie open?

OP posts:
Raahh · 16/08/2018 23:53

Oh- the taxi driver one! Grin

By the time I get to December I have usually overdosed on so many of them. Grin

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 16/08/2018 23:55

Lol, surely it's impossible to watch too many of them?!? Grin

Dimitrov has just broken serve - a bit unexpected.

Raahh · 16/08/2018 23:58

Maybe Grigor can get a break by beating Djok.

Which would be a big win for him, given how his year has gone.

I won't hold my breath. Grin.

PrivateParkin · 17/08/2018 00:12

Well he's looking pretty good so far Raahh

But yes, we'll see...

Raahh · 17/08/2018 00:18

yes, he's doing well so far.

Djok might be taking a while to warm up. Again. Grin

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 17/08/2018 00:26

Yes that's what happened yesterday wasn't it??

Novak has just saved a break point. I think I'll stay up for the end of this match...

PrivateParkin · 17/08/2018 00:36

Re the Davis Cup, I can't understand why they are proposing these changes, especially getting rid of the home/away thing, which was surely the best thing about it and it must have been amazing for the players to have that kind of support. Especially younger/lesser known players who wouldn't get that week in week out. And as you said Raahh there are so many extra tournaments now, the Laver Cup, the new Davis cup and the February thing, not even sure what that is - something in Australia? And they are getting rid of the Hopman Cup instead or something? Anyway why don't they sort out the calendar as a whole and keep the Davis Cup as it is, maybe change it to be every other year or something and look at reducing the best of 5. But having it as yet another week-long tournament in November.. good luck with that!

Greg was saying on sky that he was none too impressed with it all, and he's exactly the kind of player who would have benefitted from those DC ties.

PrivateParkin · 17/08/2018 00:44

Wow Dimitrov's forehands Shock
