Andy properly weeping after his match. It's hard to watch Sad

PrivateParkin · 03/08/2018 16:38

Hi there just stealing a few minutes on line - hopefully this works as the campsite Wi-Fi is v patchy.

Hope everyone's well? I've seen no tennis this week but have caught some of the news on Twitter. Saw a clip of the end of Murray's match - yikes. Very raw emotions, but so great to see him back. Jane I have got friends in Washington and they said it's been like a tropical rainforest there this summer, except without the exotic trees and flowers Grin they've had a few bad storm, houses have been flooded, etc.

I went to the atp tournament there once, in 2000, before it was called the Citi Open. We saw Agassi and one of the Bryan bros, back when they used to play singles Grin.

Btw. Has anyone seen fognini 's hair lately?!?!

Fizzywinegum · 03/08/2018 17:15

Just watched the clip of Andy Murray - he was really sobbing Sad. I think we sometimes forget that they are human beings as well as super human athletes.

He’s now saying that he may not play his next match because of the 3am finish - I agree with him - 3am finishes are no good for anyone especially the players. I suppose it was because of the weather but who is at their best at that time in the morning. No wonder so many players are getting injured.

I’m going to check Foggy’s hair out now

kazzaD66 · 03/08/2018 17:18

Just seen the end of Andy's match on BBC website, he's properly sobbing, bless him! Can't believe there were any spectators left at that time of the morning - hardened fans! It's ridiculous that they play so late, esp if it now means that Andy decides not to play the quarters, having had three good wins.
Will now try to Google Foggis hair Grin

Fizzywinegum · 03/08/2018 17:19

Wow Foggys new haircut is pretty extreme!

kazzaD66 · 03/08/2018 17:20

Snap fizzyGrin

kazzaD66 · 03/08/2018 17:23

Flipping heck! There's a man comfortable in his own skin!

Fizzywinegum · 03/08/2018 17:26

Great minds eh Kazza Grin. Wish I was clever enough to do links.

JaneJeffer · 03/08/2018 17:38

When I was searching for that I came across this. Mmm hmm

JaneJeffer · 03/08/2018 17:42

The commentators were laughing at some guy who was on his phone saying he was texting his friends at 2.30 am to tell them he was on TV.

Fizzywinegum · 03/08/2018 18:05

Thanks Jane

Don’t think Wimbledon would have allowed that! Smile

Was it Venus or Serena that kept getting code violations for beads falling out of their hair onto the court a few years ago?

I don’t think I’d be able to stay up until 3.00am.

JaneJeffer · 03/08/2018 22:47

Hope you're having a good time Private

Shagovalov is not happy about the clock. I like his poll on the rain situation. I should join Twitter just to follow people.

PrivateParkin · 03/08/2018 22:55

Thanks for the link to Fabio's hair Jane - I tried to find the pic I'd seen online so I could post it on here, but then the signal dropped out again. He is definitely in beach mode! Hope he keeps it for his next match. If he does, I'll be expecting him to sip a cocktail from one of those hollowed out pineapples at the change of ends Grin

We are going somewhere a bit more civilised tomorrow (ie a city, yay!) so hopefully I should have better Wi-Fi etc so I can keep up with you all!

Raahh · 04/08/2018 12:56

I've just been reading your comments Grin , have been sodelined since yesterday with a migraine that kin of crept up on me. now I feel like a zombie.

Just read that Murray has retired from his next match, due to fatigue.

He's also withdrawn from Toronto. He clearly doesn't feel near 100%, yet.

Oh poor Andy. I'm sure his hip is still bad just from the way he was walking.

Those migraines are awful Raahh.

Private have you reached civilisation?Grin

kazzaD66 · 04/08/2018 17:19

It's a real shame about Andy but completely understandable, given the circumstances. Apparently, before he withdrew, the tournament director said that he hoped Andy would play because he was a role model and he should set a good example and that if he did pull out of Washington, it sent the wrong message and showed that Andy wasn't a fighter!! What a complete arse! He needs to concentrate on trying to run a better and more efficient tournament, methinks Hmm

Where are you on hols private ?
Get better soon Raahh my mum suffered from migraines for most of her life and I know how horrendous they can be. They are not just a "bad headache"!

kazzaD66 · 04/08/2018 17:29

I see Foggy beat Cameron Norrie in the Mexico semi final, so it's Delpo vs Foggy in the final.

PrivateParkin · 04/08/2018 17:57

Yes I've reached civilization!! We're in Venice, which is fab, but absolutely boiling hot. We've just walked back to our hotel from St Mark's Square and I thought we were all about to keel over. Now "resting" (aka checking Mumsnet) as we have wi-fi here, hurray!

Raahh I hope your migraine has gone, they are bloody awful aren't they? Take care of yourself Flowers

Kazza I also saw that comment from the Washington tournament director about Murray, I couldn't believe it either! What a cheek trying to tell Murray what it means to be a fighter/role model! Also it's weird because surely it's in their interests to keep him sweet and keep him in the tournament? I hope he's going to be ok, he seems to be pacing himself and not rushing back which I'm sure is the right thing to do.

The doubles line up for Toronto looks good. Djokovic and Anderson are a team, as are Fognini/Delpo.

I see Serena has withdrawn on the women's side...

PrivateParkin · 05/08/2018 06:49

Omg Fognini has beaten Delpo! With that hairstyle!! He will have to keep it now, for luck.

ferrier · 05/08/2018 11:47

Beyond delighted that Fabio beat del Potro to win in Mexico. His first hard court title and the first time he's won two titles in a season. Just wish that somewhere somewhere the whole match was available to view.

ferrier · 05/08/2018 11:48

He said he won't be keeping it. He did it for a bet.

JaneJeffer · 05/08/2018 16:38

Much TV flicking going on here between Irish open tennis, Gaelic, hurling, Scottish soccer and the Irish women in the World Cup hockey final!

Raahh · 05/08/2018 16:47

Jane that sounds like a recipe for a migraine Grin (I've only just got woken up, having spent most of the day dozing off. But it's getting better).
