The weather here is very strange as if it can't make its mind up whether to be hot or not! I'm feeling very lethargic today.

JaneJeffer · 24/07/2018 15:29

Basilashvili is looking nice. He looks older than 26 and also strangely looks very Irish.

He has very nice eyes, jane- and I'm sure AC has already spotted his beard Grin.

No chat about beards or food so far on Sky.

magimedi · 24/07/2018 15:47

Waves to all. Still sweltering here & am still swimming every day & some days twice!! Reminds me of 1976 - which you lot are too young to remember.

Bashavilli is v handsome, indeed.

JaneJeffer · 24/07/2018 15:59

Not drowning but waving magi Grin

Raahh · 24/07/2018 16:03

Afternoon, magi.
I'm not surprised it's raining cats and dogs. Most of the dc have now finished schoolGrin
It's actually not a bad thing- the fires on Saddleworth/Winter hill are now finally officially out.

But dh is working from home today, because the air con in his office is broken, and he was really hot yesterday, he had to send people home- and today it's bordering on autumnal Grin.

No chat about beards or food so far pfffttt! What kind of tennis commentary is that?!? It's missing the two most important elements! Grin

Hope you're all well, I'm so jealous of your swimming magi! It's absolutely stifling here.

I'm just on my way home from work, and hoping Hamburg will still be on TV when I get in...

Raahh · 24/07/2018 16:54

Private it's not the kind of commentary we've got used to is it? Grin

Sadly, though not unexpected Grin , Hamburg is not on my telly box, but I've been checking scores, and amusing myself checking the schedules for the next few weeks.

Del po will be happy to be on the beach next week Grin.

I remember 1976 magi Confused

Fizzywinegum · 24/07/2018 18:27

I vaguely remember the summer of 76 - I was 7. I remember the ladybirds - I have a phobia of them which I think stemmed from that summer. Thankfully they’ve not been back this time (although I do know they’re good for the garden)

It really freaked me out at Wimbledon when John Isner picked a ladybird up with his long bony finger (double trauma!)

I’m missing the tennis - I was at a bit of a loose end this afternoon and thought that it would be nice to watch some tennis and listen to Andrew castle ramble on about beards etc Grin

I’m back at work tomorrow - it’s definitely cooler here today in S Yorks but still no rain.

Raahh · 24/07/2018 18:35

I was 4.5 Grin I have vague memories of that summer, because my gran moved flats. And we owned a very bad tempered cat.

Fizzy I have a little ladybird tattoo just above my belly button. Grin

I got it the day I walked out on a particularly hideous job. It was very spur of the moment. Not sure why I picked a ladybird. Or even a tattooGrin

Over the years, it has stretched to the size of dung beetle when I have been pregnant. Grin

(I did get another job quite soon after, and the bonus was, I was off for all of Wimbledon that year).

Can’t believe you’ve got a ladybird tattoo Raahh!

I’m a bit embarrassed about the phobia - thought I’d grow it if it but it hasn’t happened yet.

Think I’d rather have a dung beetle Grin

Raahh · 24/07/2018 19:08
Grin

It was a bit random, I'll admit.

It made quite a pretty dung beetleGrin, but it has gone back to normal size. It's only little, about a cm.

I am scared to death of creepy crawlies, generally. So far we seem to have avoided flying ants this year. We were plagued twice last year. I'm thinking the complete bleach bath I gave the kitchen at the time might have destroyed wherever they came from then.

Lol at the ladybird/long bony finger combo Grin

JaneJeffer · 24/07/2018 21:28

Speaking of fingers the Sky commentator was talking about Corentin Moutet's beautiful hands! And that he is a really good pianist. Meanwhile my 19 year old has to be nagged to death to sort out his college fees. I wonder if Madame Moutet could give me some parenting tips.

I was 7 in 1976 and remember melting Tarmac and the fields being all orange.

I don't mind creepy crawlies apart from wasps because they are evil.

Raahh · 24/07/2018 21:32

Oh yes , wasps are evil. Grin

I was 21 in 1976 - and was having the time of my life!!

PrivateParkin · 24/07/2018 22:34

Ooh that's interesting about Moutet Jane - he's not someone I've seen play at all I don't think, but he sounds a good prospect with his multi-talented ways!

On Delpo's Instagram he is shown training in leggings Grin and a long sleeved top - I only just realised it's obviously winter in Argentina isn't it? He will have to acclimatise quickly for Los Cabos!!

Presume the next main tournament is Toronto then?

JaneJeffer · 25/07/2018 19:53

Leonardo Mayer beat Monfils today. Gael had hamstring problems and the trainer put so much tape on I'm surprised he could move. I'm never sure with Monfils whether he's as bad as he makes out. He often pulls an injury when he starts losing (like Serena). Mayer's weird serving motion might have been getting on his wick.

Raahh · 25/07/2018 20:22

Jane one of Gael's early matches at RG was like that- looking like he was going to be sick in the first set/ looked like he was about to chuck the match. The commentators were convinced he would retire.

Next minute, though, fit as a fiddle, and managed a couple more rounds. I think it's the sort of thing that really messes with an opponents head, and he does do it quite often. It depends whether 'can I be arsed' Gael turns up.

I did see the first set scoreline and wonder what was going on.

Private yy , Toronto is the next masters, the Rogers cup, which last year was in Montreal.

The women are in Montreal this year.

A Question of Sport had a mystery guest I actually got tonight - Marion Bartoli! Sue must have talked her into it. Matt Dawson seemed really shocked to have a proper famous person. None of them got it right.
