I'm in Canada, just watched last episode of series 3, have you seen it yet?
Or would anyone like to know what happens???

OP posts:

is that significant? I don't get it.

kateyp · 30/05/2007 07:42

I noticed that too - although just put it down to being a really bad fake beard they had put on Jack.

TwoIfBySea · 30/05/2007 08:29

Yes, I did wonder if it was deliberate or the continuity person needed sacked.

TwoIfBySea · 30/05/2007 08:30

And the only significance I would put on it would be that it was showing Jack was actually younger in the flash forward than he was in the island parts.

mammyjo · 30/05/2007 09:49

I didnt even notice the beard thing!

PinkTulips · 30/05/2007 10:27

i have a theory, the island is in that pacific version of the bermuda triangle (you know the spot exactly opposite it where loads of ships and planes vanish?).

also, intersting fact; Jacob means 'the supplanter' in hebrew

LazyLine · 31/05/2007 07:54

The beard thing highlights for me, the main problem with Lost. You get so used to picking up on every little thing. Did you know that the funeral director that Jack visited had a name that was an anagram of "flash forward"? People who watch Lost spend ages searching out the little things. Someone on another forum checked out whether the note that Charlie wrote to Claire would be ruined when Desmond dived in the water. They did it buy finding the brand of pen that Charlie used and writing on paper and submersing it in water!

The issue with all this stuff is that people are watching out for EVERYTHING. But yet there are still continuity errors and mistakes made. So you never know whether something is supposed to be there or if it's just a mistake on the writers part. It annoys me that there isn't more attention to detail when they know how close everyone is looking.

I think that it was just a bad fake beard. One assumes that Matthew Fox's real beard is the salt/pepper shade that we normally see of Jack's stubble. Am very disappointed with the fake beard.

Only watched finale last night as missed on Sunday. Will read the whole thread later, but wanted to say that DH is very grey but when he grows his hair longer it does look darker.
I agree about Charlie and going out the porthole, but perhaps he did think he had to die, not sure I would've done that tho as he HAD already turned the thing off.
WHY DOES LOCKE know that they can't leave. And how come Jack's dad is still alive.
I also missed the very beginning, do we know who died and was in the coffin, or not??

Flame · 31/05/2007 08:14

I'm gonna end up watching it again aren't I?

I agree that the beard was only black because it was a dodgy beard.

BandofMothers · 31/05/2007 08:24

I don't think it was Ben in the coffin, I don't think Jack would be that upset, and try and jump offa bridge. Maybe Locke, but Locke ran off so did he even get off the island at all. And why would Ben leave?? Do you think they took him against his will???
If they are all going to get suicidal/realise they shouldn't have left then it could've been any of them.
I was thinking even Sawyer, but then I think thta is who Kate was talking about at the end, "He'll be wondering where I am"
Did anyone else think Kate didn't look so good witht the make up on?? I thought she looked worse, very shiny and no freckles.

Flame · 31/05/2007 08:27

I thought he seemed oddly upset for it to be Ben.

But would have thought that had it been anyone else the others would have gone.

Flame · 31/05/2007 08:28

Well not "the others", but the others iyswim

Nbg · 31/05/2007 08:28

Oh buggery arse, I forgot to record it again!

Is it repeated again on sunday?

Flame · 31/05/2007 08:35

watch here

Urgent · 31/05/2007 08:36

Hi - I keep wondering whether Charlie really is dead. You just see him slipping away from inner door porthole. Could he have got out?? or into an air pocket. I don't think he is dead?

BandofMothers · 31/05/2007 08:37

That's what I thought, which is why I thought Locke as he tried to stop them, but he ran off. Can't think of anyone else.

I assume something happened that we don't yet know and all willbecome clear in another years time

NotQuiteCockney · 31/05/2007 09:11

The whole business with the porthole was Bad Physics. The whole station wouldn't have filled up with water - only from the porthole up. They could have had lots of time to get the scuba gear on. And even Charlie's little room, would have had loads of water, from the porthole up.

It was also totally clear that Mad Russian Bloke wasn't dead. I'm afraid I was screaming 'throw him in the water!' at the screen. I mean, he'd already been not-dead once before!

NotQuiteCockney · 31/05/2007 09:12

Hadn't thought of it being Ben in the coffin - makes sense, Ben might be Jack's only chance to get back to the island?

It had to be the future, what with all the maps etc scattered around Jack's room. He was trying to work out where the island was. Presumably Kate was living with Sawyer?

Flame · 31/05/2007 09:24

I was muttering about stabbing him lots.

I don't buy the whole "past flashes" thing either - it was def the future, just not necessarily the real one.

kateyp · 31/05/2007 09:26

Unfortunately Charlie is definitely dead. The writers/producers have confirmed it (as they wanted to make it clear that main characters can and will die) as has Dominic Monaghan (sp?) - he has left the series. They wanted to make it a noble death - Charlie had been told by Des that he HAD to die for Claire and baby to be saved. So he faced his own death for the greater good.

Having said that, when they found Naomi, Des thought that Charlie HAD to die to get that outcome, and he didn't...so it doesn't really make that much sense.

But he has gone.

NotQuiteCockney · 31/05/2007 09:34

I was actually kinda sick of Charlie. Particularly all his bloody flashbacks with extremely dodgy accents.

Seriously, does him being dead mean he did sleep with Claire? Most of the time, if people have sex on lost, they seem to die soon afterwards (Blonde girl with Sayid, Psychologist with Hurley, I'm sure there are more).

JoolsToo · 31/05/2007 09:42

funny you should say that about Charlie's accents NQC - I thought in the last episode he was morphing into Desmond!

BandofMothers · 31/05/2007 09:47

I had suspicions, but def thought so when saw the maps on his floor.
Kateyp, he thought Charlie had to die to find PENNY, he saved him and instead of Penny like in his flash it was Naomi instead, so technically, had he let him die then, it may have been Penny. Who knows what would've been different if he had lived this time??

Good thought about Jack being upset about Ben as a way back onto the island, hadn't thought of that.

mammyjo · 31/05/2007 10:10

Oh my goodness! I think I must watch it too much at face value as I hadnt picked up on most of this stuff. Certainly would never have noticed the anagram thing!

JoolsToo · 31/05/2007 10:36

talking of continuity errors there was one at the beginning of the last prog.

Jack on the plane reading the paper put it to one side with the fold on the rh side but when he picked it up again the fold was on the lh side.

it's all fascinating stuff
