at magi's request here is the first grass thread ( we will probably need more than one!).

Can't believe it time for Queen's again. Hope the weather holds out- bit gloomy in the north west.Grin

( can't link to other thread as on my phone).

See you all later- the only thing I'm not looking forward to is the likelihood it will be Mr Castle in the commentary box.Grin

Yes kazza I thought he would have more respect for Murray as well but apparently not.

JaneJeffer · 19/06/2018 17:29

I was always surprised that Murray, being such a righteous dude, got on so well with Kgyrios.

Raahh I've just realised Halle is on Sky so I'll be able to watch some of that. Football permitting.

PrivateParkin · 19/06/2018 17:30

Yep, I do agree about the Stan thing. That was well out of order.

Raahh · 19/06/2018 17:47

1 set each in the Lopez/Goffin match- though the second set was closer than the first.

My dog has just growled at the tv.

I'm not sure who upset him- Murray, Kyrgios, or Andrew CastleGrin

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 19/06/2018 17:52

Probably all three Grin

I also feel like growling at the telly!

Raahh · 19/06/2018 18:06
Grin

I do like how every now and again, Andrew chucks in a name from way back, just to remind us he used to play.

When really we know he's really only good for picnic recipes.

kazzaD66 · 19/06/2018 18:08

I see Deliciano is a break up in the third set. I bet Judy is finding it hard to resist the temptation to run over to Court 1 Blush
AC says they'll get to some of the texts soon - wonder if he looks at mumsnet aswell HmmGrin

PrivateParkin · 19/06/2018 18:10

Lol Raahh yes AC, play to your strengths if you don't mind: picnic recipes and hair.

Fizzywinegum · 19/06/2018 18:22

I heard him mention miroslav mecir - has anyone actually seen Andrew castle play? (Apart from in senior matches?)

kazzaD66 · 19/06/2018 18:26

He did take Mats Wilander to 5 sets on Wimbledon No 1 court in the early 80's, if my memory serves me well, and has dined out on that loss ever since.

Raahh · 19/06/2018 18:31

I saw Castle play in Didsbury. He didn't win. Grin. Can't remember what year.

Mecir played Matts a lot- and beat Wilander in straight sets at Wimbledon in '88- Matts was going for a calendar slam that year. Of course it was the lovely Stefan who won instead. Grin.

Raahh · 19/06/2018 18:37

Ooh, how long has Castle been sitting on that joke - a Nick 'Curious' match Grin

They keep talking about Murray not playing for a year- but he did play in November, it might only have been a charity match with Federer (and they might not want to mention it, because he lost), but he did play.

I loved Stefan Edberg. Beautiful to look at and so was the tennis, his backhand down the line was a thing of beauty. He's the reason I bought a Wilson Pro Staff racquet Grin

Raahh · 19/06/2018 18:41

Stefan was supposed to marry me.

He just didn't realise it.

He's part of the reason I suffered through a year of learning Swedish at university. Really. At least I know how to correctly pronounce his surname, should we ever meet Grin.

OP posts:
Raahh · 19/06/2018 18:44

No, Sue, he's not entertaining. He's a twit.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 19/06/2018 18:52

Raahh can’t believe you spent a year learning Swedish Grin. Although I may have toyed with learning Czech during my lendl phase - it looked very hard!

DramaAlpaca · 19/06/2018 18:55

at everyone.

Just found the new thread. I enjoy the chat even though I'm not getting to see much tennis.

Loved the comment about Milkman failing to deliver Grin

Raahh · 19/06/2018 18:58

I was rubbish at Swedish. Grin. I was at uni to do an English degree, and had to do two extra subjects in my first year. 2 people on the course were Swedish!! Grin. (I had done French and Russian for 'A' Level, which were nothing like Swedish at all. I can remember to say 'I don't know'. Which is useful Grin

And they aren't even showing Kyle - how bloody crap is that!!

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 19/06/2018 19:47

Haha I love that you learnt Swedish Raahh! That's fab.

Hi drama hope you get to see some tennis soon. I've only seen bits and pieces today - just Dimitrov, the start of the Djokovic match, and the v start of the Murray match. I think I've seen more of AC than of actual tennis Hmm

I see Raonic is out injured again (shoulder) Sad

Raahh · 19/06/2018 19:52

Noooo! Milos got through his match yesterday, because his opponent retired! How sad. Sad

Lopez won. Which is something.

84CharingCrossRoad · 19/06/2018 21:42

Am going to sound awful but I'm pleased Kyrgios won.
Mats Wilander was my favourite player in my teens.

JaneJeffer · 19/06/2018 21:44

Hi Drama hope you had a lovely holiday.

magimedi · 19/06/2018 22:23

If I had been at Queens I would have been mighty tempted to storm the barriers & give Kyrigos the slap he well deserved.

Greta to see Andy in reasonable shape again, but I do wonder if he is fit enough for 5 setters @ Wimbledon.

Enjoyed seeing Kyle on the red button - he has certainly got a lot of skill.

Am finding the Fever Tree thing very trying - I keep on wanting a gin............. Grin
