at magi's request here is the first grass thread ( we will probably need more than one!).

Can't believe it time for Queen's again. Hope the weather holds out- bit gloomy in the north west.Grin

( can't link to other thread as on my phone).

See you all later- the only thing I'm not looking forward to is the likelihood it will be Mr Castle in the commentary box.Grin

Argh MrStark do you think so? I heard quite an emotional interview with him this morning (don't know if it was the same one you heard Jane) but he was saying he doesn't care about being No1, winning titles any more, he just wants to play tennis. I don't know if he's just managing people's expectations or what, but it was pretty moving to hear.

Meanwhile I see defending champion and purveyor of fine grass court tennis Feli Lopez has been shoved out on to court 1 tomorrow for his match with Goffin!! How disrespectful!!

Raahh · 18/06/2018 16:06

Jane quite.

Nalbandian will be after them now Grin

Yes, and I think that statement is to soften the blow. I don't think he can play at elite level any more and if he can't win matches he'll drop his ranking so far he won't qualify for the tour.

I think he'll run at Wimbledon with all he has left and then bow out, rather than slowly limp out as a shadow of himself

Raahh · 18/06/2018 16:09

Private it doesn't surprise me that they have moved Lopez, because they will want to fit both Murray and Djokovic on the main court. Which since neither are seeded is really not very fair. But it's always going to be the case, unfortunately.

Wow! Jay Clarke is producing some great shots. Just a shame that Querrey is banging down aces like they're going out of fashion Confused

Raahh · 18/06/2018 17:28

I wasn't really concentrating then, but did Andrew Castle really just start discussing the 'neatly trimmed growth' of the Umpire ??

How does this man keep his job? Grin

Grin I'm not watching at the mo but it sounds like exactly the kind of thing he would say!! Painful.
Raahh · 18/06/2018 18:05

AC is just barking. I don't even think he talks about tennis really. He just rambles.

John Lloyd must wonder what he did to deserve being lumbered with him Grin

Really enjoyed seeing Jay Clarke for the first time - love his attitude.

Much as I am a Murray fan I am SO sick of hearing about him from arsehole Castle!

MrStark - I also don't have the channels to watch all year but love this place to chat about the tennis we can all see.

DH reckons that all the rude spectators will be 'orf to Ascot' tomorrow. Good bloody riddance.

Fizzywinegum · 19/06/2018 09:14

Didn’t really get to see any tennis yesterday apart from the last few minutes of Querrey’s match and a few minutes of AC rambling on about nothing - someone has definitely stolen his hairspray - he wasn’t as bouffant as usual Grin

Will hopefully get to see the Murray match later - feeling a bit nervous about it. They showed a clip of him walking and he looked a bit limpy Sad. Will be sad if this is the end of his career.

PrivateParkin · 19/06/2018 09:34

Castle should stick to Smooth Radio IMHO - where he and his bouffant hair belong!!
I'm nervous about Murray too fizzy. I know plenty of players have come back from injury and had success... and I think he's got to be one of the most determined competitors around. If anyone can make a decent comeback, it's him. We'll see, got my fingers crossed for him. It'll be nice to see him out there again if nothing else.

Raahh · 19/06/2018 11:45

Private maybe that was the problem with AC- he had his radio 'hair' onGrin.

So today Andrew is chatting about prawn sandwiches...

Raahh · 19/06/2018 13:32

Oh good, I can see his new show now, 'Picnic tips, with Andrew Castle'.

And they are still trotting out the same old 'Baby Fed' crap about Grigor. (which is rubbish) It's like they have the same script every year. Grin.

OP posts:
Raahh · 19/06/2018 13:34

Ahh, they are not quite calling Dzumhur 'diminutive' then Grin.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 19/06/2018 13:35

I actually think Andrew Castle would be easy to get along with because he would chat away about any old nonsense Grin

Raahh · 19/06/2018 13:38

Jane it wouldn't be 'high brow' would it? Grin .

Grin

Dzumhur went under the net Grin

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 19/06/2018 13:40

I looked away for a minute and when I looked back they were both on the same side of the net Grin

Raahh · 19/06/2018 13:42

ooh, Grigor is in trouble now.

I do like Dzumhur's beard.

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 19/06/2018 13:50

I don't think I've ever seen someone go under the net before! Grin He did it so gracefully too!

Raahh · 19/06/2018 13:50

By all means, AC, go and get lunch. And get someone else to commentate. We don't mind.

OP posts:
Raahh · 19/06/2018 13:51

Private he did, just slid under. Maybe he does the luge in the winter ?

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 19/06/2018 13:56
Grin
PrivateParkin · 19/06/2018 13:56

I like his style!! Playing and luge-ing!

Raahh · 19/06/2018 14:15

That was quite a good match, really. I enjoyed the added luge. Grin
