Elle had Ric's number - he's a lothario consultant and it was a cheeky suggestion that the two of them might have had something going on in the past - but we've never seen anything on screen.

Jac is a CT specialist and used to work with Connie when she was in Holby as another CT specialist. They are both Strong Women.

Cwenthryth · 03/03/2019 11:58

Sorry sure I’ve been on casualty threads with a different username but can’t remember which now.

Connie used to have Jaq’s job before her didn’t she? Before Connie disappeared to America and retrained in emergency medicine. Connie is the original Jaq.

MissEliza · 03/03/2019 12:21

I haven't watched Holtby in years but vividly recall what a back stabbing nasty piece of work Jac could be.

RedForShort · 03/03/2019 12:39

Took a bit before I was entirely sure 'lothario consultant' wasn't a specialist in some lesser know medical field. Grin

Isitmybathtimeyet · 03/03/2019 12:44
Grin

Yes, can't remember if Connie and Jac worked together normally or just get seen together in these cross-overs.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/03/2019 13:17

They did work together in Holby years ago. Also, have a feeling that Jac might have had an affair with someone (maybe even Sam?) that Connie was involved with... There is most definitely history that's personal as well as professional.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 03/03/2019 14:45

Yes, that's it. It feels like everyone's had affairs with everyone else, doesn't it?

Pretty sure Jac operated on Connie when she had her car crash in the last big special.

SaturdayNext · 03/03/2019 16:10

Seriously unprofessional of Jac to waste time playing power games over the use of the OT at the expense of the patient.

Do lights ever go off dramatically one at a time in power cuts in the way they showed at the end?

RedForShort · 03/03/2019 16:35

Yes always SaturdayNext. It's only way you'd know it was a power cut.

If everything went off at the same time it would be incredibly difficult to know it was a power cut rather than someone accidentally flicking the wrong switch and turning off the whole hospital instead of the kettle.

CouldBeAnyoneReally · 03/03/2019 17:14

Grin I said the same about the lights going off.

Also was Sasha driving at 90mph and I just didn’t notice? As it was a pretty impressive acceleration into midair.

Well! Ruby is great! I thought she was a bit odd when she joined Casualty but, I'm liking her more and more. Gem was a pain this week but, quite a natural reaction.

I don't want Iain to die - or Sacha which I think is coming as the storyline develops... I missed what Gem was trying to give Connie as she entered the lift. I'll bet that is a vital piece of equipment too!

All in all, I enjoyed the episode but, I was very tense too.

HesterLee · 03/03/2019 20:09

I did enjoy the episode but the most unrealistic and ridiculous bit was Ruby getting an unconscious Iain into her car and driving to hospital rather than calling for an ambulance.
I mean there are lots of unrealistic and ridiculous things about Casualty and Holby that I let slide but that was something else!

MissEliza · 03/03/2019 20:34

What about Ruby guessing the code for the key box?!

MissEliza · 03/03/2019 20:35

Also agree I like Ruby too. Her character has developed very nicely.

purpleme12 · 03/03/2019 20:45

I wondered if he told her it in the past maybe? Either that or surely it must have been something fairly obvious like his birthday?

FairfaxAikman · 03/03/2019 20:47

It was 3006, their usual ambulance call sign

JustDanceAddict · 03/03/2019 20:48

The code was the ambulance call number.,

purpleme12 · 03/03/2019 20:51

Oh very observant

Isitmybathtimeyet · 03/03/2019 20:54

Yes, it came over her radio and she then typed it in.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 03/03/2019 20:55

Re. Key box. It was the call out code for their ambulance.. 3006? she was trying to guess it when Welsh lady (whos name escapes me atm) said it over the radio and she tried it and it worked.
I love ruby but agree she should of called a bloody ambulance and why didn’t she mention about all Ian’s belongings being packed up.
I really hope Ian doesn’t die!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 03/03/2019 20:55

Cross post!!

CouldBeAnyoneReally · 03/03/2019 21:01

Yes I was shouting at the tv when they were in resus “BLOODY WELL MENTION THAT HE HAS PACKED UP THE ENTIRE EFFING FLAT”.

Also he asked Gem for her key last week so she’ll have to remember that soon.

I'm really not a fan of Ian..

Isitmybathtimeyet · 03/03/2019 22:01

I saw some 2016 episodes the other day and I'd forgotten how chilled Ian used to be.
