Good God... how did they win best soap? The best soap is Molten Brown. Fact. (Lime and Patchouli, specifically!) What with dozy Rosie, booed Jude and airy-fairy Rosemary... think we'll all be reaching for the remote control by the time Jude has emerged from his kennel!

How was Adam able to get hold of Vinny's will/financial stuff? Everyone who lost money has a claim on Vinny's estate surely? The baby was registered as Eva's legally, then Toyah faked up a birth certificate to show Peter. Not sure about how the baby was registered at the Health Centre.

Sean was instantly dismissed from the health centre for making an off hand comment to Eileen about Angie and Jude that they overheard and IIRC Gail was also sacked from there for breaching confidentiality as was Liz a while back for making personal comments to the clients (?)

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 27/06/2018 09:26

As if Ryan would ask a girl out and make a crude joke about buying condoms - in front of her mother !!

I thought it seemed about right for newhead ryan. He’s such a stupid knob. Ali looks almost pleasant next to him Grin

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 27/06/2018 09:29

Wow! Sounds like they need a refresher in professionalism and patient confidentiality at that medical centre!

thenightsky · 27/06/2018 09:30

I feel sorry for Eva. I think Toyah took advantage when she was vulnerable and had no one to turn to. Aiden had rejected the idea that it was his baby and she was in love with Adam, but couldn't talk to him as it wasn't his, so she had to finish with him. She was all set for an abortion and all the emotional turmoil of that when Toyah jumped in and offered what seemed like the ideal solution.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 27/06/2018 09:31

Btw did anyone else hate the terrible spoonfeeding from Johnny and Moira? We didn’t need those terribly acted scenes. Liz could have just gone to tell Johnny off her own accord without the rest. They were really bad scenes. So poorly done. And totally unnecessary. It feels like we’re back to watching CBBC tween drama.

drearydeardre · 27/06/2018 09:57

I think Eva is 'piggy in the middle' -see the pun there - she always has been a bit of a selfish character - she has everything -good looks, men throwing themselves at her - she was going to have an abortion but took advantage of toyah's despair over the surragate baby dying - she is no vulnerable teen - she could have said at any time -' I have changed my mind' but she let it all continue. my sympathy is with Toyah (and peter) who have suffered the devstating LOSS OF their much-wanted son.

kikashi · 27/06/2018 10:33

dreary I think the opposite that Toyah did take advantage but agree that since Eva is no teenager that the story didn't convince. FGS Eva is 30 years old and single motherhood is no biggie these days (it's not the 50's) - Leanne is one to the forgotten child (with Steve) who's name I can't even recall.

Housewife2010 · 27/06/2018 14:24

Leanne is so unpleasant. She's has no right to live in the Rovers. Toyah should ask her to leave.

Clionba · 27/06/2018 17:50

Where is Oliver in all this?

Honeyroar · 27/06/2018 18:09

It's like something out of Brave New World - all babies are taken away once they're a few years old and given back when they are at an age to recite lines woodenly!

I felt sorry for Eva too, I thought Toyah engineered the whole thing (out of desperation) and put pressure on if Eva looked like she was dithering. I'd feel a bit sorry for Toyah now, except she doesn't seem remotely bothered. I'm loving watching Eva getting angry with Johnny!

Eastie77 · 28/06/2018 09:10

I felt a twinge of sympathy for Johnny in that last scene with Eva. Deeply unpleasant of her to blame him for Aiden's death.

Social services in Weatherfield must be have a lot of time on their hands, arriving on the spot 5 minutes after hearing a baby has - shock, horror - rolled off a sofa. Always a surefire sign of neglect.

Simon's 'menacing' gang of friends are laughable (the ringleader looks like he is about 30Confused) and I was really hoping Peter would give Simon a good slap.

I can't deal with new head Ryan's stupid little moustache and the way his lips kind of contort. I actually have to look away when he is onscreen.

SuperSuperSuper · 28/06/2018 09:27

Haha yes - Simon's ringleader must have come from the same place as Clayton, the place where youngsters of 15 look 30. See also Grease, the movie.

Clawdy · 28/06/2018 09:36

I didn't feel any sympathy for Johnny. He has wallowed in self pity for weeks, ranting at everyone trying to help him, and never really looked at his own role in the death. I don't like Eva, but I was rooting for her when she launched that attack!

Tractorprincess · 28/06/2018 10:14

I felt no sympathy for Johnny either. About time someone told him a few home truths and about time Eva stood up for herself.

Clionba · 28/06/2018 10:28

Johnny is horrible and has been unforgiveably vile to Jenny, who has done her utmost to help and support. Toyah may as well just phone in her lines, her engagement with the storyline is so poor.

drearydeardre · 28/06/2018 12:55

I was a bit Hmm about the 'naff' jackets Si's gang were wearing - then I saw that Steve who is way too old to be in a gang -had one just like it
is it a new form of product placement Smile

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 28/06/2018 14:17

The jackets were hilarious! None of them matched! They’re trying to be a gang but can’t even get their uniform right Grin “one of us! One of us!”

No sympathy for Johnny here. Tbh I think Eva had a point about Aiden’s death. Johnny did treat him badly before he died. He was living in the abandoned factory at one point when his father was just around the corner with a sofa going spare.

yawning801 · 28/06/2018 16:26

On another note... what happened to Michelle's wedding planning business? That seems to have slipped through one of the many holes in the lace of Coronation Street's storylines!

SumAndSubstance · 28/06/2018 18:07

Deeply unpleasant of her to blame him for Aiden's death.

It was, but she was trying to be unpleasant - he deserved it! Besides, he's blamed pretty much everyone else for Aidan's death, including Sophie because she didn't reply to a text.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 28/06/2018 18:10

If I remember right one of the Connors blamed Eva for Aidens death when they found out about susie being his baby. I think it might have been Michelle when she came to the pub to spew her usual brand of venom.

Clionba · 28/06/2018 18:13

It was Michelle, Z - she was particularly vile bringing Rory's death into it as well.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 28/06/2018 18:15

That’s right, she did. That was a horrible scene.

Hygge · 28/06/2018 19:58

"Deeply unpleasant of her to blame him for Aiden's death."

It was unpleasant but she was trying to be by that point and they have said the same thing to her. And they had all been awful to him in their various ways before he died.

That said, nobody is to blame really. Aidan made his choice in the moment and I don't think anyone could have forced him to do it or stopped him from doing it. But if the Connors are going to lash out and lay blame, they should also expect to be handed some back for the way they treated him.

Suzy has already lost her father. She doesn't need to be taken away from her mother. If that were me I think I'd have said even more than Eva did.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 28/06/2018 20:19

The reality of the story is the Johnny is massively struggling with his grief and is lashing out at all around him. It’s Eva’s turn to be his target now. He is using her/susie as a way of avoiding facing his grief and processing all those horrible feelings of guilt surrounding why Aiden couldn’t stay living.

bobstersmum · 28/06/2018 20:26

Do we remember toyah going on about registering Susies birth? Who will be on the birth certificate do we know?
