Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

OP posts:
LineyErgoSum · 09/05/2018 19:58

The fucking continuity announcer announced it before the programme aired. Ffs.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 09/05/2018 20:12

I dislike that they had Daniel deny he was talking from his own experience. The whole aim of the storyline is to get men talking about depression. If the show can’t even bring themselves to throw away the “embarrassment” element then how can they expect RL sufferers to speak up? They’ve really missed a perfect opportunity with that.

randomuntrainedcuntowner · 09/05/2018 20:14

I only tuned in for Eva's scene. She was brilliant. It is so close to home for me as my brother killed himself 2 years ago. The going over every little thing, the shock. She did so well. I am weeping. 😢

Yorkshirebetty · 09/05/2018 20:16

Bless you, random. Sorry for your loss Flowers x

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 09/05/2018 20:20

Thanks random

crazycatgal · 09/05/2018 20:24

I wish Toyah would stop manipulating Eva so she can keep Suzie.

randomuntrainedcuntowner · 09/05/2018 20:25

It's such a waste. I almost agree with Kirk's girlfriend. People who do this don't believe the devastation they leave behind. You really never do get over it.

LineyErgoSum · 09/05/2018 20:25

Oh random Flowers

It is very moving.

LoveMySituation · 09/05/2018 20:26

Glad you liked it Carrie. Random Flowers

I know it's only a soap but hats off to them, they did this really well.

keepondreaming · 09/05/2018 20:33

It was really well done.
I think every reaction to suicide was covered, from the devastation of Johnnie, the anger of Kate, the disbelief of others, the effect on David and Daniel still in denial that it was himself.
I particularly liked Gail's soliloquy, it was very poignant.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 09/05/2018 20:34

I agree. They did it very well. Even things like Beth’s reaction. Because that is what people say. There is always someone who will say that after a death by suicide. Maybe not to the bereaved but in gossipy conversation. I’m glad they covered that.

Littlebunnyboy130 · 09/05/2018 20:36

Very sad. Sat here trying to make sense of it all. My brother killed himself exactly the same as has been portrayed, was about 4 years ago. Everything was the same, waiting in the living room while the police and paramedics dealt with his body. Coronation street have portrayed this well. I'm sat here with tears streaming and the confusion of it all feeling so fresh. He was only 27.

PuppyMonkey · 09/05/2018 20:38

Okay so that was a great episode.Sad

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 09/05/2018 20:38

So sorry to hear that little. Tonight must have been really hard for you to watch.

val4 · 09/05/2018 20:39

So sorry Random and Littlebunnyboy 😦

VanGoghsDog · 09/05/2018 20:40

how early were David and solicitor going to the courts when david ran off?

You don't necessarily get a specific time, just 'morning session' or 'afternoon session', then it depends what cases are before you and how they go. For some cases anyway. So, I assume they just got there at 9am or something.

I disagree re the Daniel bit - I think it's still important to show that people do find it hard to talk, and that there are people (Robert, in this case) who will listen. They had David do the 'I nearly did it' bit, Daniel is the 'I still can't open up' part. Which I think is fair enough.

It was very well done. I officially hate Toyah. Poor Eva.

Littlebunnyboy130 · 09/05/2018 20:41

Thanks Zibb. Really hard but can't talk about it in real life to anyone. His suicide destroyed my life I didn't cope well with it at all but slowly rebuilding things now.

Yorkshirebetty · 09/05/2018 20:41

Littlebunnyboy sorry for your loss Flowers x

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 09/05/2018 20:41

Toyah must be the worlds shittest counsellor, the cow.
Flowers for all those who it hit hard. No one can imagine what it's lik.
On an important note-how long has that garden been there? Funny no one has ever mentioned it's!

Littlebunnyboy130 · 09/05/2018 20:42

Thanks Val. Sorry you are going through it too random. It really is tough but you do get through it.

cloudyweewee · 09/05/2018 20:47

The garden has been used in quite a few scenes lately. I also thought that Gail's soliloquy was beautifully done.

lou1221 · 09/05/2018 20:50

Flowers To @Random and @little. So sorry you've gone through this.

I think Corrie did this episode really well. So incredibly sad, the disbelief, anger, shock, even contempt was all so true. Gail's bit had me sobbing, and the part with Aidan being taken away just brought back memories of my mum being taken (natural death).

I'm so glad that David has told Shona. I gasped when the opening scene was David on the bed, I thought, at first, that it was Aidan, very pleased Corrie didn't go down the glory hunting path.

Mixed views about Daniel, he still can't admit his demons, but Robert knew it was him, and Daniel knew that Robert knew.

Toyah is a manipulative bitch, she's vile. I really hope that Eva takes her baby back.

PuppyMonkey · 09/05/2018 20:51

Gail has been involved in quite a few memorable Corrie moments hasn’t she? Norman Bates with a briefcase etc. It was a lovely touch to have her do that bit tonight.
