Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

OP posts:

I think he said it to hurt her. He could have pushed her off the roof of the "mill" flats development when Vinnie wanted rid of her but didn't.

How well have either Gary or Anna's "plans" regarding Phelan gone in the past? (right back to the partnership with Owen days). What makes them think this would be different. Wouldn't Gary be in danger of getting charged for kidnap and assault even if they eventually intended to hand Phelan in ?

Hygge · 01/06/2018 14:24

I think he might have first been with her because she was convenient.

It upset Michael, who he hated.

She had a home, which he needed since his divorce and losing his other house and his money.

She looked after him, which he enjoyed.

It upset Anna to have him on the Street, and he hated her too.

It gave him somewhere to live and be looked after, and also the opportunity to needle at people just for the fun of it.

But I think he did come to love her. When he thought she was in danger from one of Vinnie's thugs he went running down the Street looking for her, he was properly upset at the thought of her coming to harm, and properly relieved when she was okay.

And then he found Nicola and had the chance to be part of a family, and he really wanted that.

Plus he had a passport for Eileen when he went on the run. He wanted her with him.

I think as much as Phelan could love anybody, he loved Eileen and Nicola.

In his mind they have betrayed him though and so now it's all about the baby. I'm not sure he'd want to kill either of them, even now, but I think he would hurt them to get the baby if he had to.

After all, he could have killed Gary and Sarah but he didn't. If he can spare those two when he hates Gary and thinks nothing of Sarah, he'll spare his family if he can.

David's story is also my focus. Great acting. The rest of the programme is just filling in.

Inkanta · 01/06/2018 19:09

Also - Steve's acting is very funny and good. Smile

Inkanta · 01/06/2018 19:13

The Phelan scenes are awful.

Yeah - they really are!

Chocolateandjam · 01/06/2018 19:47

I agree with lots of pp. There were several hours and countless opportunities for someone to call the police.

When Nicola opened the door and saw Phelan standing there, why did she not slam the door shut?

I thought the baby did an excellent job Grin.

cloudyweewee · 01/06/2018 20:00

The Phelan story has just dragged on too long and I couldn't give a flying fig how it ends now.

Spam88 · 01/06/2018 21:12

Well that was a busy 12 minutes.

Daysthatendinwhy · 01/06/2018 21:14

They’ll all have got patched up and forgotten about it by Monday.

blueskypink · 01/06/2018 21:15

If I lived on Coronation Street I'd never accept a marriage proposal.....

VanGoghsDog · 01/06/2018 21:15

They’ll all have got patched up and forgotten about it by Monday.

Bit like Robert's "black eye" which is fading every minute!

Daysthatendinwhy · 01/06/2018 21:21

“It’s all goin’ on today, innit?” Yes Gail. Quite.

OyO · 01/06/2018 21:27

Where does Gary live?

Just wondering where Anna will reside now.

OyO · 01/06/2018 21:29

Ah, Durham. Of course.

Namechangeforhair · 01/06/2018 21:32

Was that Nigel Havers with Rosemary?

blueskypink · 01/06/2018 21:32

So the woman who's been obsessive about Faye just casually announces that she's off to Durham now - before even establishing whether she wants to go with her Confused

But hey NO MORE PHELAN 🎉🎈🎆

MrsMotherHen · 01/06/2018 21:32

that final scene was cringey.... I feel the writers have really let some good actors down theres only so much they can do with shite writing.

Hidingtonothing · 01/06/2018 21:33

Glad it's finally over but oh dear, it really wasn't done well, embarrassingly dire.

Spam88 · 01/06/2018 21:33

It was indeed! Clearly he didn't rip Gail off enough last time.

Michelle was holding up very well for a person who'd been shot in the abdomen. I also liked that Nicola apparently had a barely detectable pulse but was still conscious 🤔

Hidingtonothing · 01/06/2018 21:34

Yes Name, the con artist returns Smile

Namechangeforhair · 01/06/2018 21:35

I can't remember what he did last time.

Thesearmsofmine · 01/06/2018 21:36

Finally it’s over! I did half expect him to come back to life.

iheartmichellemallon · 01/06/2018 21:37

Thank goodness that's over!

Daysthatendinwhy · 01/06/2018 21:40

embarrassingly dire

Yes it was.

And did I hear right? Josh has been released without charge, not bailed?

ellenanora5 · 01/06/2018 21:42

Why on earth are they bringing Lewis back, and now we'll have to put up with Gail and Audrey fighting over him again, I love Sophie Thompson though, think she's great.

So finally the Phelan nonsense is over, he missed an opportunity to take out half the street though.

And I suppose we'll have to go through the wedding again.
