Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

OP posts:
CoolCarrie · 31/05/2018 22:25

Robert was a fireman in London’s Burning! Or at least the actor was

Clawdy · 31/05/2018 22:27

So Anna emerged from jail just in time to see Phelan's end.....hmm. Thought she had left the series for good.

SpinMill · 31/05/2018 22:29

It's been dire this week. Makes no sense, can't understand why no-one has just phoned the bloody police. Rosie story line is beyond terrible, wedding story line no better. Agree that David's is all that's been worth watching.
I know others have already said but I've been watching classic corrie and there's just no comparison.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 31/05/2018 22:34

He was also in Corrie before as a different character in 2000! He was Leanne’s drug counsellor.

iheartmichellemallon · 31/05/2018 22:34

It's just ridiculous - someone should have phoned the police & where on earth did Anna come from?

David's storyline, however, is excellent & his acting phenomenal.

eddiemairswife · 31/05/2018 22:36

It's absolutely ridiculous.

catherinedevalois · 31/05/2018 22:38

So it all finishes next episode. As if we care. It's a year past its sell by date. Just die Phelan, I can't bear to think he might live and escape or go to prison and possibly come back in the future.

Honeyroar · 31/05/2018 22:51

There's clearly a signal problem in Weatherfield- nobody uses their phones when they ought to.

VanGoghsDog · 31/05/2018 23:29

I was so bored of it tonight. Isn't it just the longest day ever as well?

I don't care if Michelle marries Robert. Wtf is all the drugs and icing sugar shit about (can't see that going wrong at all).

Agree re David, deserves more focus. And would have more impact if everything around was normal and dull.
Phelan storyline done to fucking death now.

BoCha · 01/06/2018 08:15

Ignoring all the crap storylines - does anyone know where Nicola's lovely stripey maternity top is from?!

JustDanceAddict · 01/06/2018 08:21

David’s story is amazing - and the acting is superb. When he said ‘if you must’, to Gail’s offer of a hug and then stroked her hair I shed a tear.
As for Pat - a load of bollox. Where did Anna appear from? Why didn’t Seb call
Police?

qazxc · 01/06/2018 08:29

Fawn was the name of Daniel's "free Anna windass" movement. He has totally forgotten about it now though.
Surely now there's a gunshot someone will ring the police. Mejon , you are not the only one shouting at tv, I am too.
Who do we think got shot? Hopefully not baby. My guess is Nicola, leaving idiot Gary holding the baby.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 01/06/2018 09:23

I'm hoping the bullet ricocheted around the room and took out everyone except the baby (and possibly Nicola so she could look after him)

MillieAndObi · 01/06/2018 09:48

David's storyline has been perfectly done, particularly the way it has been woven into Aiden's death. The way they portrayed Aiden, feeling like he couldn't tell anyone how desperate he was feeling, the underlying message being that men so often suppress their feelings; that awful comment which boys and men are so often told - "man up" - from David's solicitor outside court a few weeks ago. And then the comparison between Aiden, who confided in no-one, and David, who is now starting to deal with what happened to him because he's started talking to people, is just beautifully portrayed.

I've also noticed that they've got more of the other male characters talking to each other, discussing feelings and so on, since Aiden's death.

It's just a shame that this fantastic message of men opening up, crying, having emotions, is appearing at the same time as yet another violent man is rampaging about the street Hmm

eddiemairswife · 01/06/2018 10:06

Anna just turning up like that?? In real life Gary would have known she was being released. I can't even remember why she was in prison, and don't care either.

blueskypink · 01/06/2018 10:22

Well he did know didn't he? When she appeared he said something like, "you took your time". And he'd told Sarah earlier that he had something planned but couldn't tell her what.

JustDanceAddict · 01/06/2018 11:44

Also did you notice Carla’s Uggs when they were outside waiting to see if Robert would turn up?

kikashi · 01/06/2018 12:11

Yes, I noticed the Uggs. I agree with whomever upthread said there was no tension - really dull - the wedding seems endless. Great scene with David and Gail (and in keeping with their relationship) although the pedant in me did wonder where Emma,Max, Lily, Harry etc were.

As for Seb - surely he would have his phone in his pocket ??? As for Anna turning up - words fail ...

Agree that all the weddings and Phelan shenanigans have deflected from the poignancy of David's storyline.

ChevalierTialys · 01/06/2018 12:28

Phelan fiasco - what a load of rubbish!!!

As if Seb wouldn't have just gone into a room upstairs and called the police!

Sarah getting out of the ropes - put me in mind of her and David in Richard Hillmans car.

David is literally the only reason I am watching. I used to call him Ratboy (it just seemed to suit him) and found him awful, so I never thought it would get to the point where I considered him the best actor in it.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 01/06/2018 12:33

I used to call him Ratboy

Dad? Is that you? Shock Grin

eddiemairswife · 01/06/2018 12:44

Yes, David's acting is excellent. (even though he looks like a little boy wearing a false beard.)

Hygge · 01/06/2018 12:51

I've decided now that it will be Pat who has been shot in the fight.

They will then either:

A. Call the ambulance / police like any normal person would.

B. Decide that the police already think he's dead and contrive to hide the body because they don't want Gary to get the blame for kidnapping him or Nicola / Seb (not Eileen, she was already on the floor unconscious before the gun shot) to get the blame for shooting him.

ajandjjmum · 01/06/2018 13:27

Had a tear in my eye at the Gail and David hug too.

I wonder if the storyline might be that Gary, knowing Anna was to be released, wanted to give her the opportunity to have her say (or worse) to Phelan before they handed him in. So he kept him captive for this?

blueskypink · 01/06/2018 13:32

I presume that's what he meant when he told Sarah he had a plan (which didn't involve him killing Pat) but couldn't tell Sarah. And when Anna turned up he was clearly expecting her.

blueskypink · 01/06/2018 13:33

I'm wondering if Pat meant it when he said Eileen disgusted him and he'd only been with her for cover. I got the impression there was at least some affection there.
