Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

Just me probably, but I hated that artificial, unfunny re-creation of the Ena,Minnie, Martha threesome. Not going to work, so contrived.

CoolCarrie · 17/05/2018 13:23

I agree Clawdy with you ! Ena, Minnie and Martha with their hats, hair nets and milk stout were sweet & funny. I’ve only seen them on YouTube but they had a warmth about them that won’t work now. Watch Victoria Wood’s version, very funny.

ShowerGel9 · 17/05/2018 13:59

I agree Clawdy. It was utter 'cringe time'

VanGoghsDog · 17/05/2018 17:37

@HettySunshine - not necessarily. None of my wills have ever been stored that way. I've never returned a signed copy to the solicitor (I've had three wills so far) and you have to pay for storage, I chose not to, so it's not stored. It's in a file in my house. That's the only signed version that exists. The solicitor did not suggest I get two signed and send one to them. Not any of the three times. And it was a different solicitor each time.

HettySunshine · 17/05/2018 18:38

At the practice I work at, you sign at our offices, we witness your signature (if you like) and then you leave the will with us and we send you a certified copy and store the original in our vault. I guess it just depends on the firm you use.

Those three old women were crimgey. And I can't get away from the fact that one of them has dementia, is homeless, and has just lost her only child in a violent way. The attempts at humour seem in poor taste. Shame, because the actress is decent.

keepondreaming · 17/05/2018 18:51

@HettySunshine That's how my solicitor did ours couple weeks ago. I have certified copies and I've put them (along with insurances etc) in the safe.

@VanGoghsDog If you have the only copy, what's to stop someone destroying it or saying you haven't got one? (As I hope Carla etc do with Aidan's!!)

SumAndSubstance · 17/05/2018 18:53

I don't mean to come over all uptight, but I did find the old women horribly stereotyped and not in any way likeable. The Flora-Adam-Daniel triangle is entertaining enough, but her unpleasantness towards Sinead, to which Daniel is apparently oblivious, undoes anything positive. And yes, what an absolutely ridiculous storyline.

Wishfulmakeupping · 17/05/2018 19:29

Agree super exactly what I thought way too try hard and way too soon

Wishfulmakeupping · 17/05/2018 19:31

But I don’t like that character at all anyway. I’m fast forwarding a lot again.
I missed a few weeks —stopped watching due to sheer frustration at the ongoing pat saga— but what happened with Sophie Thompson’s psychic character did that go anywhere?

Wishfulmakeupping · 17/05/2018 19:31

Strikeout fail 🤦🏽‍♀️

Clawdy · 17/05/2018 19:35

Yes, what did happen with the psychic woman, has she gone?

SumAndSubstance · 17/05/2018 21:05

That's a very good question, Wishful, I don't remember there being any conclusion to the silly psychic plot (liked the psychic woman though).

Ah, you might be right Smeaton. I don't remember anything after that. (about the psychic on Coronation Street, that is...)

blueskypink · 18/05/2018 01:22

Odd that they'd have such a good actor (Sophie Thompson - sister of Emma) on to play the psychic and then just let the storyline fizzle out.

SuperSuperSuper · 18/05/2018 09:17

Very odd. Hopefully she'll be back.

deadringer · 18/05/2018 09:57

Bettyboo I agree about Rosie, she is a much nicer character now than when she was younger. Has Flora got dementia? If so the writers seem to have forgotten about it.

kikashi · 18/05/2018 13:26

Flora doesn't seem to have needed to be in a care home - she is quite sprightly and her friends are quite young too. Shoe horned in weirdly.

The Sophie and Kate scenes were awful - Sophie needs to go she is like a plank. It actually makes me feel angry that she is probably being paid a 6 figure salary for several years and yet they axe good actors/characters.

deloresclaiborne · 18/05/2018 18:29

the most annoying thing on corrie at the moment is michelle parting her fringe every time she speaks
just stop it. makes my lips twitch

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 18/05/2018 18:36

Does Flora know her son is dead?? She is not acting like someone who has recently lost her son, and what about his funeral etc, it’s all a bit bizarre the way she is now suddenly a comedy character.

Akire · 18/05/2018 19:26

I think she still has dementia just not so effected. But she has freighting days when she doesn’t knowwhere she is or what’s going on. Or leaves cooker on and is a danger. Though is odd her old mates are all acting like nothing wrong but I guess you wouldn’t draw attention to it.

Odd because if she does has dementia she wouldn’t be able to sudden decided she wants to live and someone else might have power of autonomy over her financiers so how or why social worker would not be concerned that she moving in with a non relation who could just be after her money. Even if that’s just weekly pension.

Stellar performance from whoever this creepy alley stalker is. Hmm have Corrie had a massively reduced budget for actors this years? They seem to be employing performing chimps.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 18/05/2018 20:47

And why is the garage hiring a new mechanic? Has josh left?
