Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

OP posts:
EB123 · 15/05/2018 00:22

I just caught up on last week and tonights episodes and i thought they were very well done. Having had someone close to me attempt suicide, it really hit home, the way Aiden had everything to live for and the way he seemed ok to most people.

Aiden, Eva, Johnny and Jenny were brilliant, i also thought the reactions of the different characters were so well done.

Hygge · 15/05/2018 07:18

I thought Sophie's text was to show how the small things can seem so important afterwards. To show how families and friends might examine the tiniest thing to see if that was why, and by extension if that means they were to blame or if they could have prevented it.

Nobody thinking rationally would take that text as anything other than a message asking about a party, at most he would have been looking to say goodbye to her there and she wouldn't have noticed any more than anybody else did.

But they're not thinking rationally, they're grieving, so making a bigger deal out of the message and Sophie's non-reply than it deserves.

SumAndSubstance · 15/05/2018 08:37

Hygge, I absolutely agree with you regarding Sophie herself. I just can't imagine that she would have felt anything good could come of telling Johnny about it.

SuperSuperSuper · 15/05/2018 08:50

Surely there's a newer will. It would have been out of character for him not to have rewritten it when Carla gave him the shares. He could still have acknowledged Alaya's support and friendship with 10-20%.

blueskypink · 15/05/2018 10:40

Exactly so. Sophie isn't presumably so grief stricken that she can't think clearly. So why would she go to Johnny and effectively say, 'here look at this - maybe I could have done something to stop him'. It was a very cruel thing to do.

Spam88 · 15/05/2018 11:29

It was ridiculous, but I imagine it's playing on her mind more because of her mums reaction.

ajandjjmum · 15/05/2018 11:46

Burn the Will Michelle!

ellenanora5 · 15/05/2018 11:53

Oh god Alya will be insufferable when she gets the factory, she's unbearable as it is, and a useless actor, I wish they would get rid of her.

Kate can go aswell, she's hopeless.

I like Flora Grin

ShowerGel9 · 15/05/2018 12:06

What did sophies text say?

Hygge · 15/05/2018 13:32

I think it was guilt that made her go to Johnny.

She feels guilty, and she's questioning herself, and perhaps her religious beliefs played a part in feeling she had to confess that guilt and the wrong she feels she's done to Aiden.

I'm not saying it was a good idea to confess, just that I think those were her motives.

kikashi · 15/05/2018 14:46

The writers needed to give Sophie some lines - so came up with that. I think she wanted to be told There, there it's alright and made to feel better etc - so a bit selfish. Was that tiny scene the reason they made Aidan be Sophie's mate then?

The producers really need to sack Rosie - so, so wooden. They can't even give her story lines - dead wood.

kikashi · 15/05/2018 14:47

Shower I think the text just asked her if she was coming to the party in the Rovers for Johnny and Jenny leaving. Sophie was tired so didn't reply.

ajandjjmum · 15/05/2018 14:52

Maybe the writers are just trying to show how suicide affects even those who are not closely associated, but almost friends in passing? And by doing what you think is the right thing, you can be doing absolutely the wrong thing!

I agree. Sophie is the most boring character on the street.

Rafflesway · 15/05/2018 17:40

The will looked very official and not just a "Home made" job!

If drawn up by a solicitor, irrespective of whether Michelle destroys same, the solicitor will still have an original duplicate which will have to be declared and used accordingly.

Definitely don't want Aliya to get the factory though!

yawning801 · 15/05/2018 17:43

So who does Kate Oates need to bump off before she goes...
Twat Phelan,
Dozy Rosie,
Awkward Alya,
Silent Sophie...

Who else?

HushabyeMountainGoat · 15/05/2018 17:50

I'm not sure what purpose Izzy is serving at the moment either... she only ever pops up occasionally in the factory.

Redglitter · 15/05/2018 17:55

Hopefully another will will appear. I find it hard to believe that after planning things for so long Aiden wouldn't have an up to date will. There's No way he's leave the whole factory to her.

I reckon we'll have a week or so of Ayla being a pain in the arse of a boss then a new will will show up leaving it to his family

ajandjjmum · 15/05/2018 17:57

Or Suzie's rightful parentage will be discovered, and she will automatically inherit?

ShowerGel9 · 15/05/2018 19:16

Can't believe they have given Aliah such a Hugh status on the street.

I bet about 5% of viewers actually like her/care for her as a character.

Housewife2010 · 16/05/2018 11:37

Phelan needs to return and dispose of Alya

Optimist1 · 16/05/2018 12:05

Good solution to two problems, Housewife - could Kate be collateral damage, please? Grin

Housewife2010 · 16/05/2018 15:09

Yes please. Kate is irritating.

wildgarlicflowers · 16/05/2018 15:16

I am so desperately sad that coronation street, the icon, has come to this cheap and tacky horrid show that we can hardly bear to watch.

The suicide made me cry and feel crap for days, the baby was gut wrenching and the endless 'drama' and life lessons is totally unnecessary.

We all KNOW what real life is thank you, we are dealing with this shit day in and day out, what we are looking for new producer

is some RELIEF from the endless crappy issues not more of the same night after night.

Bring back humour, warmth, day to day dealings and kindness.

Bring back corrie!!!!!!!!
