Shiny new thread.

Hopefully we will see some players return from injury in the next few weeks.

Munich/Istanbul in play this week amongst other tournaments.

Madrid week beginning the 7th (hopefully with Delpo playing)

I thought policemen had to be a certain height? Maybe they’re not allowed to do that now.

Everyone is definitely getting younger though - apart from me!

PrivateParkin · 04/06/2018 19:21

Ha! I know, I hate seeing when the current crop of tennis players were born, because it's always the year I started university or something depressing like that (when we all know that was only a couple of years ago, surely?!).
Hope you are feeling ok Raahh. Lots of fluids is the way to go, and take it easy.

Raahh · 04/06/2018 19:24

Fizzy they definitely changed that at some point- I was at university with someone who is now has quite a senior position in the Met -she's barely 5ft Grin

I think I’m living in the olden days Grin

magimedi · 04/06/2018 22:00

Everyone looks young to me nowadays. Grin

Was so pleased that Cilic won - Foggi's antics are tiresome IMHO.

BagelGoesWalking · 04/06/2018 23:25

Very glad to see that Cilic and DelPo going through, pity they have to meet in the 1/4 finals rather than semis or even a final.

Foggy must be incredibly annoying to play, did you see he was penalised when he wandered up to the net to check a line in the penultimate (or last game)? Crazy!

Haley/Kerber will hopefully be a great game.

ferrier · 05/06/2018 00:18

I agree Foggy can be annoying but his shot making is just so sublime that he can get away with anything in my book. So I'm disappointed he lost. And even more disappointed that I couldn't find his match on any of the highlights - although caught Rafa's match three times .... gaaaahhhh.

Pleased for Schwartzman.

Raahh · 05/06/2018 02:40

well, I haven't got appendicitis. But I've probably got kidney stones. I've been at the hospital once 8.40pm. I'm tired and a bit bored now.

The painkillers are working.

I am not looking forward to passing kidney stones. Grin

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 05/06/2018 08:31

Oh no Raahh! So sorry to hear this. Glad the pain relief is working though. Hope the hospital has good WiFi so you can distract yourself with tennis!

Fizzywinegum · 05/06/2018 08:42

Hope you feel better soon Raahh - and that you get to see some tennis. Kidney stones don’t sound like much fun.

Looking forward to Thiem/Zverev match later - I think it’s in at 1pm - I keep getting confused between our time and Paris time.

Wonder if it will be another 5 setter for Zverev? I like both of them so just hoping for a good, close match.

Raahh · 05/06/2018 08:43

Grinme too- though I'd settle for sleep. Hospitals are rubbish when you're ill!

BagelGoesWalking · 05/06/2018 13:31

Oh no, Raahh! Sorry to hear that, I hope you get some relief/medication sorted out soon.

Any chance of paying for the tv and it having itv4 - if you're at all able to watch?

Raahh · 05/06/2018 13:32

watching the tennis on my phone is not the same.Sad

But at least I can see some of it whilst I'm stuck here. I'm Team Thiem.Bored now of how desperate the commentators are for Zverev to win. He's still only young. There's plenty of time. it doesn't have to be this year.

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/06/2018 14:30

Thiem is going well- though I was whisked off for another scan and missed most of It.

very inconsiderate Grin

Raahh · 05/06/2018 14:33

I think Zverev is injured though- the first few games I saw, he seemed to pull up in one of them.

OP posts:
TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 05/06/2018 14:46

Zverev definitely injured. Sad to see this turning into such a one-sided match when I had high hopes of it. Thiem could be a real threat to Rafa...

BagelGoesWalking · 05/06/2018 14:48

Yes, very one sided for obvious reasons. I did want Thiem to win this time and he won't have tired himself out too much.

Raahh · 05/06/2018 14:51

the only he could be. But Rafa in RG finals always seems to find an extra gear, and seems to make players who have played well all tournament look lacklustre. Like he did to Stan last year.

It's a shame about Zverev, I hope it's nothing serious and he can get better for Halle, he really Roger's main threat there ( everyone else seems to be at Queens Grin)

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/06/2018 14:54

Bagel I was on Dom's side, but I didn't mean for Zverev to be injured. it's never great for either player really.

But Thiem will be fresh to meet, probably, Djokovic. Who I'm imagining will have an easy match. So its only fair.Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/06/2018 15:02

i feel sorry for Thiem here- you can hear how disappointed the commentators are thst Zverev is going to lose. And Thiem will know he beat an injured opponent- though really, I think he could have won it anyway.

It reminds me of the Rafa/Stan Aussie final in 2014. It affected both of them, mentally. Stan went on to lose at RG in the first round and it was the beginning of a very bad 18 months for Rafa.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 05/06/2018 15:09

"Busted" and "one direction"? Hmm

Think he was working on that one a long time? It's like having blimmin' Len Goodman commenting on the tennis.

Poor zverev Sad just one match too many there I think. Congrats to Thiem though.
Need to wait for the cycling to finish before the Novak match will be shown apparently!

Raahh · 05/06/2018 15:18

Cecchinato has started well.

I'd love it to continue. Grin

Raahh · 05/06/2018 15:23

Novak apparently was gesturing for the physio.
Not another injured party. He appears to be swinging wildly at things at the moment.
