Shiny new thread.

Hopefully we will see some players return from injury in the next few weeks.

Munich/Istanbul in play this week amongst other tournaments.

Madrid week beginning the 7th (hopefully with Delpo playing)

ooh rumours that Serena could pull out of her match against Maria.Interesting.

JaneJeffer · 04/06/2018 14:42

Oh what's up with Serena??

Well done Diego and Rafa.

Raahh · 04/06/2018 14:50

just had to leave to pick up dd1 just before Rafa won. Vamps! Though well done to Marterer for holding him off for so long.

During the match, one of the commentators said there was a rumpur Serena mat pull out. Not sure if she has though.

Blimey that was a badly typed post. cba to correct itGrin

you get the gistGrin

She has now. They showed her press conference. She has injured a pectoral muscle. Ouch !

JaneJeffer · 04/06/2018 14:52

Just about Raahh Grin

magimedi · 04/06/2018 15:00

SO no one has won the Serena/Shrieky match!!

Look forward to seeing more of Marterer.

Raahh · 04/06/2018 15:33

Maybe it was the effort of getting in and out of the cat suit that injured Serena?

So, Shrieky through by default. Serena's fan club Marion will not be happy. I think she had already engraved her name on the trophy. Grin

Marterer did exactly what Sam Smith said he should do -just keep Rafa on court for as long as possible. They said 2 hours would be great- so 2 and a half was an amazing achievement. And he didn't disgrace himself- he came closer than anyone has to taking a set off him, and seemed to have Rafa a bit rattled at times.

Of course, the next time they meet- the Nadal team (who had already done their homework) will know even more about him, and will know what to expect. But he did well today.

Lol Raahh - the first ever catsuit-related injury!

Finishing work a bit early so might catch some of Delpo, but this match is not going to be a thing of beauty, let's face it.

Raahh · 04/06/2018 16:00

Foggy is playing. Now, Serena should take note on how to look like a super hero GrinSadly, he lost the first set (though I do like Marin, so not too sad)

If Fabio gets no further, he has won Outfit of the tournament, definitely.

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/06/2018 16:01

Isner, however, looks like an overgrown toddler.

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/06/2018 17:17

Ooh, Foggy has taken a set.

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/06/2018 17:57

Yay! Delpo! Go Argentina- they are having a good day.

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 04/06/2018 18:09

He's pumped!! But such a tough draw from here...

JaneJeffer · 04/06/2018 18:14

Foggy makes me laugh Grin

PrivateParkin · 04/06/2018 18:17

Jane - me too. Some of his facial expressions are hilarious!

Raahh · 04/06/2018 18:31

I didn't realise Foggy had drawn level, had to disappear for a bit. Wow. Amazing match for both of them.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 04/06/2018 18:33

Just got in and seen that Schwartzman won, Serena has withdrawn and foggy is now 2 sets all with Cilic.

At least there wasn’t a Rafa upset.

Foggy is quite funny but probably v annoying to play against. Foggy and Cilic seem to be quite different characters.

I’m also not very tall - it would have been interesting to see a match with Schwartzman playing against Isner.

Raahh · 04/06/2018 18:37

oh it's Mac.

I'm not feeling very well. I've had an horrendous pain in my side all day. I think it may be a water infection. my more dramatic side is thinking appendicitis. dh would definitely think this
so I've had a bath and I'm drinking lots of water.

if I don't make it through the nightGrin vamos Rafa! number 11 is nearly there...

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/06/2018 18:41

Fortunately for Diego- he won't have to face Delpo next or Cilic (who might still go through) both being 6ft 6.

Rafa is only 6ft 1Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/06/2018 18:43

I meant 6ft 6 is nearly 2 whole feet taller than me.
Isner is 2 feet 2 inches taller than me.

Which is just ridiculous.

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/06/2018 18:44

Of course, Kevin today, was 6ft 8.

Were tennis players always so tall??

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 04/06/2018 18:58

I always imagine Rafa to be quite small but 6ft 1 is pretty tall(for normal people!)

Tennis players are definitely getting taller - 6 ft 2 used to be considered tall but now not so much now.

It’s a bit like policemen looking younger these days (although that’s probably just my age Grin)

Well done Cilic

Raahh · 04/06/2018 19:00

Oh policemen are definitely getting younger- and shorter Grin we had reason to have a visit from one ( nothing seriousGrin) the other week, and he was barely taller than ds, (15) who is only 5ft 2!
