Have I got this right?

  1. Leo killed wife with Egyptian bookend
2.Leo was incarcerated by angry maid

so

  1. Whose was the body in the lake if it wasn't Leo?
  2. Who killed Jack?
AnneLovesGilbert · 15/04/2018 22:06

Unremittingly grim is exactly right. Bloody hell.

We really liked the previous two and I can’t believe it’s the same writer.

What a load of miserable, soul destroying, nonsensical, hysterical, pantoesque tripe.

Disappointing.

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/04/2018 22:07

The dodgy cop paid someone in the prison to bump him off. For Leo and in revenge for jack shagging dodgy cop’s wife.

No body in the lake. They’re playing along for the secretary.

HarrietSpecter · 15/04/2018 22:08

Very confused...

I'm all for adaptations, but this was 🤔🤯

Maybe it was ok if you didn't know the original story?!

Clawdy · 15/04/2018 22:08

Anne you summed it up perfectly.

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/04/2018 22:08

I’d like to know why Leo killed the son in law. What was the naffing point in all that?!

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/04/2018 22:11

In the book because son in law had either worked it out or was close. Phillip in the book isn't remotely the waste of space they made him here.

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 22:11

Hmmm. Probably just so there would be a cliff-hanger at the end of episode 2? I can't remember Philip giving any clue that he suspected Leo.

AdaTwist · 15/04/2018 22:12

I quite enjoyed it.

But I'm confused about why the son in law was deaded too.

MajesticWhine · 15/04/2018 22:13

Can anyone tell me who the murderer was in the book please?

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 22:13

So isn't someone going to wonder where Leo is?

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/04/2018 22:14

Phillip is killed in the book because the killer thinks Phillip knows too much. The killer in the book isn't Leo.

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/04/2018 22:14

Which would make sense lass, but there was no hint of that at all.

Extra pissed off with what they did for poor Arthur.

The previous tv adaptation was a million times better. Can’t remember who did it but it seemed to make sense!

alltheworld · 15/04/2018 22:14

Why pretend this is an adaption? Why not just be upfront... we are using the title and the characters but that is it.

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/04/2018 22:14

Can anyone tell me who the murderer was in the book please?

I'll pm you. Don't want spoilers

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/04/2018 22:15

And why did they threaten him with the statue to then just stash him in the bomb shelter?

Sheer madness.

Apologies, I’ll stop ranting now.

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/04/2018 22:16

Me too please! I’ve even read the book but totally forgotten Blush

NameChangeBiatch · 15/04/2018 22:16

I thought it was really good. I haven't read the book to compare it to though.

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 22:16

The adaptation with Alison Steadman as Kirsten had the original killer but bumped Gwenda off.

Clawdy · 15/04/2018 22:18

Nice happy ending in the book - Mick and Tina realize they love each other, and so do Arthur Calgary and Hester!

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 22:20

Yes, did he meekly go down to the shelter there or was there a fight? Why didn't they get the police involved? Also, just because the statue was from Leo's study why did they make the leap it was him? Loved the bright red blood line on it. I'm sure Leo would have washed it off before now.

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/04/2018 22:21

Many sensible questions running.

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/04/2018 22:24

Yes - that isn't a spoiler. Calgary is lovely in the book.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 15/04/2018 22:24

So isn't someone going to wonder where Leo is?

No, because it's believed he's in the lake, presumably suicide.

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 22:30

But why would anyone think he committed suicide? Also where was Gwenda while this was all going on? I have too many questions!
