She was the secretary I think, though fortunately has had elocution so can pronounce butter properly!

LineysInTheSand · 01/04/2018 22:09

Gosh, the frocks! Not a clue what's happening, mind you ...

Clawdy · 01/04/2018 22:10

It's not remotely faithful to the book - very much darker. The bottle of urine on the table, the self-harming, very un - Christie. And the quivering, jumpy Arthur Calgary is just annoying. I hope it improves. And how ridiculous to show so much trailer over the closing credits, I feel as if I've seen next week 's already!

buddhasbelly · 01/04/2018 22:11

Agree about the spoilers for next week's - I switched over when they came on

I really enjoyed it, I can't wait for the next episode.

StripySocksAndDocs · 01/04/2018 22:14

I've read it and seen the Marple version; and I STILL can't remember who it was.

Really enjoyed it. Roll on next Sunday.

RustyBear · 01/04/2018 22:16

Didn’t like what they’ve done with Calgary, in the book he’s the stable contrast to the family. Think I can guess what his problem is going to turn out to be, though.

Butteredparsn1ps · 01/04/2018 22:36

Am disappointed that the next episode is not till next week! Enjoyed it a lot and can't remember who dun it so will enjoy all the twists & turns.

Littlewhistle · 01/04/2018 22:46

I was really looking forward to it but lasted 18 minutes before I gave up. No idea what was going on and couldn't be bothered to waste any more time on it Sad

MissWimpyDimple · 01/04/2018 22:59

I liked it, but all the men looked the same so I'm confused already!

Akire · 01/04/2018 23:04

I WAs lost after the first 10min. To many people first as children then adults then back to
Children. I’ve got no hope of keeping up. It was bugging me the mother blood on carpet started oozing when she was found, like she had just been shot. But Coulnt have been. Shame I do like a good murder.

Systemoverload99 · 01/04/2018 23:59

I really enjoyed it! Wanted it to be on again tomorrow though, much prefer it on consecutive nights

LineysInTheSand · 02/04/2018 00:26

I agree about all the men looking the same. Dark brylcremed short back and sides with floppy top hair, shirts and ties, nice cheek bones.

LassWiADelicateAir · 02/04/2018 03:10

I really enjoyed it but it has only a passing resemblance to the book.

I agree- complete personality transplant -even to the point of sending him to the Arctic rather than the Antarctic.

I'm not keen on what they have done to Phiilp either. It is a bit of a cliché that he is all bitter and twisted after an accident.

LassWiADelicateAir · 02/04/2018 03:28

Drugs? Closet homosexual?

The Philip character is annoying me. It seems very unfair to turn him into such a petulant, self-pitying creep.

catkind · 02/04/2018 08:36

Aye. That obviously placed book was the charioteer wasn't it? Was obviously lying about going to arctic, I reckon wheelchair man had got the right end of the stick.

I like it so far. Lots of people looking suspicious and broken in different ways. I wonder if all the flashbacks are real or if some are people's lies.

Footle · 02/04/2018 09:00

The book was John Wyndham's The Chrysalids.

catkind · 02/04/2018 09:04

Ah over-suspicious then lol! Why is that so obviously placed?

Footle · 02/04/2018 09:04

Yes all the men looked the same. The ominously suspenseful music got on my nerves all the way through. Some great knitting and couture , as is usual in these festive offerings.

Footle · 02/04/2018 09:07

catkind, the News kept going on about post-nuclear strike precautions didn't it? The Chrysalids is on the same theme. Maybe a clue there? Dunno what, if so.

catkind · 02/04/2018 09:22

Maybe he was doing secret physics after all! (Though would a nuclear physicist read books about it?)

Yorkshirebetty · 02/04/2018 10:21

I loved it! Perfect Easter viewing. Gorgeous house, wonderful clothes, period details and a house full of dysfunctional, suspicious people! I'm very intrigued by Kirsten and I wonder what the deal is with Tina?

eddiemairswife · 02/04/2018 10:24

Wholeheartedly agree about all the similar-looking young men. Why do the casting people do that? Not so long ago all the men in dramas had little dark beards.

HettySunshine · 02/04/2018 10:27

I enjoyed it too. Looking forward to the next one and I've just started watching And Then There Were None.

Thanks got the reminderThanks
