Paedophile announcement? (I missed the first five minutes). What was that referring to?

LassWiADelicateAir · 09/04/2018 15:52

The suggestion made by Jack that the policeman friend of his parents (who tried to run Arthur down) had an unhealthy interest in helping waifs, strays and orphans.

SenorBork · 09/04/2018 16:04

Ah! I see! I think I missed that in the general WTFness of that scene.

BuildingBearFun · 09/04/2018 22:15

I’m glad we’re not the only ones. I’ll admit that I’m used to the Geraldine McEwan/Julia McKenzie stuff, but this is just unremittingly grim. I suppose I’ll watch the next one but only because I still can’t let go of my sunk cost fallacy.

southeastdweller · 09/04/2018 22:21

It's very overcooked, the writing. I think Sarah Phelps should have stuck to writing episodes of EastEnders.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/04/2018 22:46

What an awful let down this is. I'm so disappointed.

I don't mind adaptation and modernisation but this is poor. The characters are totally one dimensional, the writing is confused and I'm not too bothered either by watching next week or what the outcome is, I couldn't care less about any of them in any way, so it's not fulfilling its purpose for me.

LassWiADelicateAir · 09/04/2018 23:16

I'm mildly intrigued, if she has changed the murderer, to see who it is and what she will make their motive.

Pancakeflipper · 09/04/2018 23:29

I thought it impossible to stuff up an Agatha Christie adaptation. I have been proved really really wrong.

TheOriginalChatelaine · 10/04/2018 12:45

Good to see Demelza again on a Sunday evening!

Dozer · 11/04/2018 16:39

Read the plot of the book online and didn’t like agatha christie’s plot for the murderer/motive!

Taytocrisps · 11/04/2018 19:31

"I thought it impossible to stuff up an Agatha Christie adaptation. I have been proved really really wrong." I agree Pancake. Not impressed at all. I'm so sick of the flashbacks. As a plot device, it's been done to death (no pun intended). I'll probably watch the last episode just to see how it ends but I've very low expectations. I might download the book after that.

Taytocrisps · 11/04/2018 19:33

"Good to see Demelza again on a Sunday evening!"

Ah, of course! That's who she is - I was wondering why her face looked so familiar.

Clawdy · 15/04/2018 17:49

Have to say the original ending was rather odd and unlikely, but can't imagine another culprit who would seem right. Probably the only reason for watching tonight, to see how it pans out! Been such a disaster so far.

SianRunner · 15/04/2018 21:02

This truly is Ordeal by Ordeal by Innocence

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 21:03

All settled in for a disaster ending

SianRunner · 15/04/2018 21:09

It's completely bonkers.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 15/04/2018 21:11

Not even the redeeming feature of decent costumes this week.

SianRunner · 15/04/2018 21:17

I don't really know what's going on.

SianRunner · 15/04/2018 21:19

Mind you, I don't really care.

ilovesooty · 15/04/2018 21:34

I can't believe the changes made to the plot here.

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 21:40

Nooooooooo

ilovesooty · 15/04/2018 21:47

Leo was a nice enough chap in the book.

WipsGlitter · 15/04/2018 21:58

So the husband did it??

runningoutofjuice · 15/04/2018 22:00

Yes, in this version

WhatAGrippingLifeYouDoLead · 15/04/2018 22:05

Did anyone associated with this awful "adaptation" actually read the book? I cant believe what I just watched
