Apologies if a dedicated thread has already been started on this.

Watching now.

Can’t see most of it as it is shot at night / in poor light conditions.

Anyone else watching?

I thought it was a bit shit. I did warm to Coral a lot more than I ever have though. Too blimmin' late now!

I'm disappointed in the series. It's been shit for a while, but I've invested so much time in it I feel I have to keep watching. It used to be my absolute fave.

pickledparsnip · 04/03/2018 11:39

Oh and Negan is just crap. Such a shit baddie.

Aridane · 04/03/2018 13:11

Yeh, Negan is embarrassingly crap.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/03/2018 17:43

JDM is too good looking to be Negan. When they cast him I thought he would bulk up and be more like he was in Watchmen.

Also in the comics there is Carl and Negan stuff that you see more of Negan’s other side and now I don’t see them doing that with him and any other character and it mostly works because of Carl being so significant to Rick.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/03/2018 17:45

Negan isn’t ugly but he’s not pretty. More square jawed and big.

Aridane · 05/03/2018 17:47

I get distracted by his dazzlingly white teeth

OP posts:
MiddleClassProblem · 05/03/2018 17:50

Yes, he must have a post apocalyptic dentist we haven’t seen

beepbeeprichie · 05/03/2018 18:00

Captain I agree with everything you say. Gimple is taking this in a stupid direction- is it due to falling out with Kirkman? 2 fingers to the comics? Who knows. That link I posted is worth a watch from an amusement perspective but also because what he says is true; far too many flash backs/ flash forwards/ breaks... all dragging it out for advertising revenue for AMC to milk its cash cow.
He also says something about being too invested and stubborn to stop watching. I feel like that too. I watch Supernatural which is about on season one million and goes round in circles but yet I don’t resent it the way I resent TWD.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/03/2018 20:10

I’m sure some of you have seen this but as op said, I think Dixie:

www.digitalspy.com/tv/the-walking-dead/news/a851513/the-walking-dead-ezekiel-demands-lauren-cohan-maggie-more-pay-amc/

I think it’s just a great example of the rift between producers and cast/crew. If the cast were happy they wouldn’t make this stuff public although I think Khary Payton is a bit of a lose canon compared to the rest.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/03/2018 20:10

*loose

beepbeeprichie · 05/03/2018 20:26

Thanks Middle I knew there were rumblings but hadn’t seen that. Quite interesting that the article refers to other “stars” as Tara, Eugene and Rosita. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a TWD fan group and seen anyone express any love for them. And most people want Gabriel dead already Grin

MiddleClassProblem · 05/03/2018 20:41

Really? On these threads there’s def Eugene love, more recently Rosita love. I’m a big Tara fan since her solo ep. She went from being a weak character too being really strong and now gets to do a bit of comedy or eat liquorice which is what I would be doing lol. Another reason I love Jerry. If TWD was in Britain it would definitely have more humour mixed in with the drama.

DontOpenDeadInside · 06/03/2018 07:09

Ooo on that last link it says Gimple is stepping down for season 9. Hopefully we might get back to basics.

dejectedharry · 06/03/2018 07:39

Yes I've read a few articles saying that after Gimples disaster of a season he's not the showrunner for season 9. Thank god!

LiveLifeWithPassion · 06/03/2018 09:06

Gimple has really ruined it. Hope he does go though it’s too late to undo his crap decisions.
That was such a bizarre episode.
Rick is more than flawed now, he’s just weak and rubbish. Is that how he is in the comics?
Why did he want help from those crazy garbage people when they’ve made it so clear in the past that they’re not interested and couldn’t give a shit about Rick and his lot.
His son’s death seems to have had no mental impact on him.
That phone call to Negan was amazing. He got told good and proper. Negan was harsh but so right. It just makes Rick an even less likeable character and I liked seeing Negan with a bit more depth.
As for mincing those zombies. Yuk. We didn’t really need to keep seeing the mince.

MiddleClassProblem · 06/03/2018 15:33

“Omg! They killed all my people! Zombies are surrounding me! I muust climb up high to get away! But first I must change into my nightie...”

If they can climb up one side of the heap why can’t they walk along and down the other side?

The blue paint was some forced attempt at symbolism that didn’t work.

I don’t think Rick is in that weak a position as Negan doesn’t know what Simon did (why Rick didn’t say about the junkyard when he said they just save people and don’t want to kill I just don’t know).

And the section titles out of nowhere, pointless and desperate attempt to stay fresh/arty. It doesn’t work as the story would be told the same way without them. Those titles didn’t focus particularly in that character as they were mostly scenes with other characters.

I honestly don’t think you can compare it to the comics as it’s quite different. That fondness you saw from Negan about Carl gets to play out, Rick is married to Andrea, Michonne is bonking Ezekiel, there are a lot more characters, Heath is knocking about and Denise was his girlfriend and died in the war, Rick has one hand.

There is a grenade attack on Alexandria, Negan takes Eugene (I think it’s during that attack though I can’t remember clearly my book is in a box somewhere from the move), Maggie is leading Hilltop up el duffo.

MiddleClassProblem · 06/03/2018 15:39

Also Jadis talking normally... twat.

She’s not in the comics.

MiddleClassProblem · 06/03/2018 16:24

Also forgot to say odd ending

MiddleClassProblem · 06/03/2018 16:31

One more thing! What was the significance of the gazebo for Michonne?

MiddleClassProblem · 06/03/2018 17:25

Oh just watched talking dead. I think it is where Carl and Judith did the hand prints but I wasn’t fully paying attention so might be wrong

yumyumpoppycat · 07/03/2018 00:19

Here you all are! I didn't see this thread as was on the other walking dead thread and thought you had all abandoned watching as things had gone so bad! Great news about new show runner for series 9.

elmo1980 · 07/03/2018 03:16

're the gazebo I thought michonne said he used to sit on the roof. I don't ever remember him doing that so that bit was a bit lost on me.

beepbeeprichie · 07/03/2018 22:08

Yeah they ran to put the fire out on the gazebo but then as they were driving away it was back on fire anyway!! (I only noticed that from the most ridiculous things from the walking dead)

MiddleClassProblem · 07/03/2018 22:29

They didn’t manage to put the fire out as the walkers came too quick. I don’t think they went on the fire training health and safety course as they were waving those things all over the place.
