Apologies if a dedicated thread has already been started on this.

Watching now.

Can’t see most of it as it is shot at night / in poor light conditions.

Anyone else watching?

I enjoyed the scenes with Carl- thought they were fab. I also liked the switching between scenes, how kick-ass Morgan was compared to the almost serene-like quality of Carl.

What annoys me is you'll have a scene with a baddie, they go out of shot and then the camera stays there for a few seconds. Then out of the shadow emerges a goodie (in yesterday's episode it was Morgan, three times). It's as if the writers (or producers?) think we are so stupid that we don't know what's going to happen next.

I can't stand the character of Negan and just want him gone. It's ridiculous how he has this army who think he's the bees knees- get rid of the baseball bat and he really isn't!

MiddleClassProblem · 27/02/2018 17:29

Also the symbol on the stained glass of Rick’s tree that was in the intro. Other things from the intro that I noticed were some satellite dishes and something lying laid out on the floor in the beginning not sure if it was clothing or something.

That’s about all I got Grin

cardibach · 27/02/2018 20:29

Each Well, fast forwarded half of that. No emotion felt at all
Well if you don't watch it develop you won't feel any emotion will you? Jesus, people's attention span is getting ridiculous.
Some really subtle writing and acting in this episode, I thought - though I didn't really enjoy the first half of the season (too many pointless fun battles).

DispatchReady · 27/02/2018 20:56

Speaking of no emotion though, did anyone think it was a bit weird the way the others (Tara, Rosita etc) just turned away and left without saying anything to Carl?! Perhaps they didn't know what to say but their faces didn't really reflect any emotion at all! Nice!

Listened to the podcast of the show and they think the last scene with Rick is definitely a flash forward to his death! I didn't think he was badly injured - he just had a bloody hand/arm but apparently not. Need to be more observant!

MiddleClassProblem · 27/02/2018 21:17

I thought there was a knife or stick in his hand. Although it was his right hand. I assumed they were alluding to him losing it rather than his death.

MiddleClassProblem · 27/02/2018 21:21

Maybe I’m wrong but to me it looks like there’s something stuck in his hand

StripySocksAndDocs · 27/02/2018 21:35

Hard to make out, could be his hand is resting on top of it.

MiddleClassProblem · 27/02/2018 21:56

Yeah, you might be right. Chop his his hand off already! Grin

I don’t think it’s his death though.

Pemba · 28/02/2018 00:26

TWD has definitely gone downhill the last year or 2. I'm not 100% sure of the meaning of the phrase 'jumping the shark' but I think that's what they might have done with killing off Carl - it's just a step too far. Throughout the show's run I always felt that Carl's character represented hope for the future, as well as the reason for Rick to keep on. Apparently the character is still going in the comics - what was the point in getting rid?

Rumours are that those in charge of the show didn't treat the young actor, Chandler Riggs very well either. I thought he didn't look very happy in 'The Talking Dead', or was he just a bit shy?

If Maggie goes as well, that's it, I'm not watching anymore.

Figgygal · 28/02/2018 10:15

I was really impressed with chandler riggs at the end there but yes what was going with Rick and the tree I thought he had something impaled through his hand

hopethisworks · 28/02/2018 10:38

Middle class - Rick photo, if it is something in his hand I think it looks a bit like the top of a baseball bat?!!! Agree also that goodbyes from Rosita and others were a bit "Soooo I'll be off then". 😳 Seemed very abrupt. Although the moment when Daryl took Judith was a nice warm and fuzzy moment in all the gloom (also did anyone else find watching difficult at times purely down the darkness in the tunnel and the mumbling?). When he said "I got this" I wondered if it was to do wit( losing Beth?
Meh, I'm rambling now! Bit like the writers ...

hopethisworks · 28/02/2018 10:39

Cross post Figgy! Def think something is impaled in his hand

HouseworkIsASin10 · 28/02/2018 10:52

Totally agree, they just walked away without 'bye then' Shock
I was waiting for Darryl to come over to Coral and say something or do anything. At least he took care of 'lil asskicker'.

Agree with PP re Negan not in the same league as The Governor. The Governor had different sides to him, we could see something when he first got together with Tara's sister and kid. When he was on his own for a few months.

Loved all the first 6 seasons, the earlier ones were amazing. Now it's so repetitive.

As for Morgan, just seen him advertised in a new show so bit concerned he's another one that may be leaving. Or may have worked on the new one in the hiatus?

MiddleClassProblem · 28/02/2018 12:37

It was so dark it was hard to make out much of it watching it in the day time so I think that’s why it didn’t hit me emotionally.

I just don’t like these flash forwards as you are waiting to piece them together and it distracts from what is actually happening.

darumafan · 28/02/2018 12:52

In the picture of Rick, is the thing under his hand jut his pistol in its holster?
In his seated position, the holster would be 'loose' and would be pulled down by the weight of the gun.

cushioncovers · 28/02/2018 15:25

A good bye scene with Daryl and Coral would of been good. I can't on board with the dream sciences and largely ignore them tbh. Realistically the show will have to draw to a close soon surely? Maybe series 10?

beepbeeprichie · 28/02/2018 20:34

Gosh that was poor. Gimple has ruined the show. And I’m just not sure about Greg Nicotero directing- he’s a special effects guy.
Pacing was rubbish. Carl could easily just have died at the end of the last episode. I was chuckling away at the most ridiculous scenes from the walking dead thing (it’s on YouTube and amazon prime but hopefully will attach link. Always highly amusing-

I'm losing the will to live with this. Can't see a fecking thing. It's so dark!

leghoul · 02/03/2018 03:49

I fast forwarded all the Carl bits
Completely tedious and drawn out
Rick - looks like injured abdomen on his right side eg bite, bullet, knife wound and bloody hand

leghoul · 02/03/2018 03:50

Eg knife through hand into torso

I’ve posted on the other thread. I thought this episode was done really well and I was very moved (read: sobbing like an idiot). I feel so sorry for Chandler Riggs and so sick of smug Gimple. He is destroying the show. I think this was a bad move and a desperate grab to get people watching instead of building a credible and satisfying narrative - he just goes for tricks like Glenn in the dumpster and big cliffhangers all the time as he seems incapable of subtlety and nuance. Negan has been like a cartoon character. The only time I’ve found him menacing in any way was when he was toying with Spencer - for the first time, I felt unnerved by him.

I really feel they’ve lost purpose with losing Carl. I’m starting to wish they were following more of a Game of Thrones pattern - where you know it’s all going somewhere and the loose ends are going to be tied up. I loved the wandering and disparate nature of Season 4, but I just feel we’re on a loop now and all Gimple can come up with is the shock factor. The heart of the show has slowly drained away.

I might go back to the beginning and watch the old episodes again to remind myself how great it was!

Aridane · 04/03/2018 09:51

Judith is cute - though older Judith bears a striking resemblance to the ‘aged’ pictures of Madeline McCann

OP posts:
Aridane · 04/03/2018 09:51

What was with the Negan / Judith micro scene at the end?

OP posts:
CaptainBrickbeard · 04/03/2018 11:04

I guess it was symbolising Carl’s conviction that a peaceful resolution is possible - they can reach a truce with Negan and work together instead of killing each other. Like Morgan’s old mantra of ‘all life is precious’, whether it’s a Wolf or Negan or any crazed psychopath they’ve encountered. It’s maybe an interesting way to tie all the pacifist threads together after Carol and Morgan and to some extent that Saviour this week who was satin he wished it didn’t have to be dark and violent all the time. Can Rick actually see that through where all the others have tried and failed? Even with someone as unlikely as Negan? Carl obviously thought he could.
