Like the title? I think she was either, with that laugh!

Another who thinks that Friday's episode went too far.

I think it's good they're including male rape. It does happen, but for example, when Carla was raped, it was pre watershed appropriate imo. We knew what was going to happen and the scene after made it clear that it had. There was no prolonged unbuckling of belts, which there was on Friday. Just unnecessary.

I am glad that they tackle more diverse and challenging issues now, but this was inappropriate. Not the subject of male rape, but the amount that was shown at this time.

Boswellox · 18/03/2018 20:58

I mistook the clairvoyant for Liz and Adam with his new buzz cut for Aidan.. "Should have gone to Poundshop for +4 magnification glasses"

Akire · 18/03/2018 22:11

I’m not bothered in the slightest by New doctors mum or real mum (can’t even remember her name she’s just so boring).

Why can’t Dev sell up shop and have new blood in? Not like we ever see kids these days.

Totally agree we need normal boring sory lines. Don’t need drug addict from
Zero- rehab in 3 weeks. Or rape or murders or having a secret baby for your sister or having a transplant from your newish step sister!!

honeyroar · 18/03/2018 22:47

I didn't think Fridays episode went too far personally. It was uncomfortable, of course, it was never going to be nice. I found the grooming of Bethany worse.

They could bin Michelle for me, she's a bit of a smug, boring character, despite varied storylines.

Babawoollysheep · 18/03/2018 23:09

I'm watching current and classic Corrie.

Looking back I agree classic Corrie is excellent.

But I still love new Corrie too, times have changed I think and people aren't satisfied with just the ins and outs of people's lives.

I think a big problem with current Corrie is that there are a lot of pointless filler character that simply can't act very well.

There are some good characters imo like Liz, Steve, Eileen, the Platts, Mary, Roy.

Personally I think the Platts are excellent on the whole. Some of the big storylines are good but then they take it a step too far and it goes ridiculous. Like with Bethany and her grooming storyline, it went off the rails with the strip club stuff.

Too many storylines and rushed just to cram in as much drama as possible and most of it ends up feeling pointless.

I just watched Classic Corrie with Bet and Alec and her miscarriage, it was excellently done without a big boo har but you really felt for them and you felt with them.

Sean Wilson just tweeted that he'll be on The Wright Stuff today if anyone's around (I'm not). He will be asked to comment I'm sure.

MotherOfWurzel · 19/03/2018 09:44

Yes I think there's so much going on that we actually know less about the characters now because we forget everything that's gone on. Characters don't seem to get much screen time unless it's a dramatic storyline, we don't seem to just check in with them much getting on with day to day life or dealing with the aftermath of something that happened a few months (weeks!) ago.

Fewer core characters might be the way to go. Perhaps with more characters who are there for realistic interaction but don't live on the street.

CoolCarrie · 19/03/2018 12:52

Far too many characters and too many episodes those are the main problems.

I’ve stopped watching Emmerdale as it was getting on my wick completely, but holding on to Corrie for the time being.
They won’t get rid of Fizz, the actress has got a tea shop to pay for, that’s why she went into the jungle show!
The old Corrie was great full of genuine humour and wit, suitable for family viewing, with strong, warm decent people, now it’s shock, horror, crap acting, terrible writing and no real connection to the old series except the set and the name, and it makes me sad.

CoolCarrie · 19/03/2018 13:10

The producer was on This Morning defending the David storyline and did the usual “ raising awareness, breaking taboos “ crap, but really it was clear that it is all about ratings with her. She is leaving in 2019 so maybe we have to hang on for a year, but how much damage will she do by then?

She implied in the interview that it wasn’t her decision to go ahead with the story Hmm

logicalmum · 19/03/2018 19:59

Fizz having a tea shop to pay for is nothing to do with keeping her in Corrie. Thats her problem surely, and it should be making her money anyway, She spoils the program imo, alongside a few many others.

Clawdy · 19/03/2018 20:03

That scene with David in the shower was almost exactly like the scene in Hollyoaks years ago, when they were dealing with the same storyline. Why didn't they check that first?

logicalmum · 19/03/2018 20:04

*coolcarrie+ I agree, it makes me sad too and very nostalgic for those long ago days, used to watch it with my mum, never missed. Absolutely ruined now.

cloudyweewee · 19/03/2018 20:16

I have never seen Hollyoaks but thought the scene in the shower was powerful. I remember watching Brookside when Sheila Grant had been raped and she tipped scouring powder into the bath before getting in. It reminded me of that.

EdithWeston · 19/03/2018 20:34

" She is leaving in 2019 so maybe we have to hang on for a year, but how much damage will she do by then?"

Weren't we saying much the same in the final months of the previous one?

PuppyMonkey · 19/03/2018 21:00

I couldn’t make out what the clairvoyant was saying to Gail about Richard, did anyone catch it properly? Confused

MotherOfWurzel · 19/03/2018 21:15

Just that he was a bad spirit hanging around

ChevalierTialys · 19/03/2018 21:28

She said a man woth a hammer is trying to speak to her. Then she said Richard says he's tired of waiting.

IIRC Richard killed Maxine OR whacked Emily with hammer. Something like that anyway.

PuppyMonkey · 19/03/2018 21:50

Ah thanks both. Wonder what her game is then.

CoolCarrie · 19/03/2018 22:14

logicalmum, watch the reruns on ITV 3 Monday to Friday around 3.40 two episodes each day and then repeated 6.OO am next morning, they are lovely to see again, Bet, Alec, Mike, Alf, Emily, plus the never aging Sally!

EachandEveryone · 19/03/2018 22:16

I hope David doesnt keep it to himself.

CoolCarrie · 19/03/2018 22:19

The clairvoyant must have read about Richard’s crimes, he killed Maxine, and his ex wife, then tried to drown the Platts, it must have been in the papers, well The Sun and Daily Fail for certain!

EB123 · 19/03/2018 22:22

I thought Jack Shepard did a very good job tonight.

HesterLee · 19/03/2018 22:26

Thinking back to the children - baby Oliver has both his parents alive and well and living on the street. Not together of course.
