Anyone watch this? Just found it on iplayer. Love Eve Myles, her husband goes missing in it.

Someone kindly explained it to me in a summary. Hope they don't mind if i repost it as it will help a lot of people have closure lol :)

"Steve Baldini worked with the traveller gang to call off Gael Riordan. Evan had been working in some sort of ‘undercover’/dubious capacity with the Swansea police who were bent, kidnapped Alys and took her for a showdown with Faith to reclaim Evan’s corrupt funds. Arthur came good and helped them both to escape. Evan’s parents’ marriage imploded in court and it looks like his mother attempted suicide. And in the final scene, Evan is pictured lovingly returning back to the girls."

peacheachpearplum · 05/04/2018 22:10

I thought it was brilliant.

MaitreKarlsson · 05/04/2018 22:29

I'm furious with Evan.
Loved the series but the ending was shit!
By the time he eventually did come back I was so fed up on Faith's behalf that I wished he hadn't. Think it was unrealistic that she would have got home with Alys after that traumatic day in court and horrible showdown - and just left her to go in alone while she and Baldini sniffed each other's faces despite being warned off him by the judge.
And I still don't fully understand that evil copper's haircut. It's been bothering me for 8 episodes. Wink

Ophelialovescats · 05/04/2018 23:51

That haircut has been giving me nightmares. ....the biggest unanswered question in the whole series is how would anyone chose a hairstyle like that ??

Upandupin · 06/04/2018 11:17

Very confused although I really enjoyed the series.

Did Steve secure Evans realise somehow? Funny how they both turned up at the same time.

My guess is maybe series 2 will be Evans version of events. Maybe it'll be called 'Keeping Evan' Grin

Felt like Steve sacrificed his all for Faith's happiness therefore making sure Evan is returned.

Jadoo · 07/04/2018 11:42

Loved this! And wasn't disappointed by the ending, except I'm going to go with the idea that Evan was just in her conscience. The chemistry between her and Steve was just too good.
Things that annoyed me though:

  • token friend who always says I love you to Faith is kept completely out of the loop but is always available to look after her kids.
  • the hideous giant metal hood in the middle of the living room
  • the way she walzed into court mid-hearing and got Steve off the hook
  • the comedy haircut was a total giveaway. Never trust a person with a lopsided haircut.
SofieMonde · 07/04/2018 13:19

Should be called Evan's Above lol

Cagliostro · 07/04/2018 20:34

So what happened to Marion (Evans mother)? No sign of tablets as a suicide attempt.
And if I were Faith, I'll be bloody furious at Evan turning up like that.

And I was sooo annoyed at the "let's all wade through a puddle" showdown. Why not park on far side of puddle?

Fontella · 07/04/2018 21:39

However I hope some "loose ends" get tied up (well, not lose ends exactly). For instance, I want the farmer who ripped up that old bloke's garden, causing him to die, so that he could get his greedy hands on his tied cottage, to get his comeuppance (though I doubt he will).

Yes, I do agree this was just left hanging. She finds a dead body ... and that's it? No follow up? It's almost hard to understand why they even had it as a tangential storyline.

Unless it's going to be one of her missions in the next serious to go after the Farmer and his bent solicitor who 'caused' the old bloke to die.

I definitely do think there is going to be a next series - so hopefully all those loose ends will be tied up properly.

peacheachpearplum · 08/04/2018 12:21

My guess is maybe series 2 will be Evans version of events. Maybe it'll be called 'Keeping Evan' I think it should be "Losing Fath."

peacheachpearplum · 08/04/2018 12:21

that should be Faith not Fath.

tattychicken · 09/04/2018 22:10

Does anyone else think Arthur might be an undercover cop? Deeply entrenched but trying to take down the drugs ring/corrupt police? He was suddenly very confident and efficient during the confrontation in the puddle, and his explanation of having been in the army didn't seem very convincing....

Fontella · 10/04/2018 10:21

Does anyone else think Arthur might be an undercover cop

I would love Arthur to be something other that what he seems. He's a great character, worth developing, and very easy on the eye too which always helps.

LooseAtTheSeams · 10/04/2018 21:54

Arthur as undercover cop is genius! That totally works!

GoldenKelpie · 11/04/2018 22:19

Ah, knew there'd be a thread on this Grin. Just watched the last episode on catch up. Furious that Evan turns up at the end with a smug grin after Faith cleans up his mess! Awaiting series 2 where she divorces him and gets together with Steve.

Cagliostro · 11/04/2018 23:10

It really annoyed me that the end made Faith look unfaithful because she was about to kiss Steve. Like she is the bad guy breaking up the family when they’d just found daddy again. Even though he was the one fucking about and getting into all kinds of trouble. I suppose that was the intention though.

OP posts:
MaitreKarlsson · 12/04/2018 17:39

Yes that's true. Was she supposed to feel guilty!!?

arriettyspiders · 14/04/2018 14:31

I made it to part way through episode four. I still wanted to know what happened without having to watch any more. Catching up now.

Did anybody find the lead actress extremely irritating? Not at all convincing! I remembered her from that dreadful Frankie programme (similar character) which was cancelled after first series.

Hellsbellscockleshells · 15/04/2018 13:53

Just finished watching this on catch up loads of questions. Although I did fall asleep in one episode.
How did Evan end up back there it was Faith imagining seeing him in the last episode?
Did Faith’s Mum in Law die or was she just staring into space?
Who was in the boot of the bent detectives car in the final episode (was it Evan or Faith’s friend).
Did Gail or whatever she was called (dumpy criminal woman with leather skirt with cocaine) have an affair with Evan?
Who did Faith phone at the puddle was it her?

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 17/04/2018 11:40

I don’t think Evan did have an affair with Gail O’Riordan, he said he can’t! The bit where her and Faith are sitting outside the caravan talking, very unrealistic. Gail would really have been after her as her money went missing.

I did find the end very odd how she was with Steve after the court told her not to go near him at the end.

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 17/04/2018 11:41

I did find the last episode confusing though was it the bent police kidnapping her daughter and why did Evan suddenly turn up.

Hellsbellscockleshells · 17/04/2018 22:09

@MumsTheWordYouKnow no it wasn’t just you.

TheDrsDocMartens · 19/04/2018 02:39

Anyone else think the house was totally unsuitable for children?Blush The fire in the middle of the room would be really awkward to fireguard. The stairs weren’t great either.

Why didn’t Faith go to the police with some of her problems early on before she knew some were corrupt?

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 24/04/2018 23:23

Tempted to out this in AIBU!

I want to know the same explanations as hells bells!!!!!
