Anyone watch this? Just found it on iplayer. Love Eve Myles, her husband goes missing in it.

I have no clue what actually happened, who was in cahoots with who, who Evan was working for, why he left, why he came back... but what a great ending. That moment with Faith and Steve, I could feel the emotion. Swoon

Fontella · 04/04/2018 23:37

I am off to watch it now. I hadn't realised that the actors playing Faith and Evan are actually husband and wife in real life!

As are the actors playing Terry Price the copper and his wife Bethan (Evan's sister).

In real life, actor Matthew Gravelle is married to Mali Harries.

serenadippity · 04/04/2018 23:44

Loved this

mrsmuddlepies · 04/04/2018 23:47

Really enjoyed this series. Has a second series been confirmed?

Fontella · 04/04/2018 23:49

I've got myself a massive crush on 'Steve'.

Mark Lewis Jones is the actor and there is something about him that reminds me a bit of the late Irish actor Richard Harris, Weird because he looks nothing like him! Hard to explain but there is something about his expression, look in his eyes ... I dunno what it is but I keep getting fleeting glimpses of Richard Harris!

Confused

Fontella Ditto the Steve Baldini crush Easter Blush

spacecadet48 · 05/04/2018 00:35

Just finished watching it. Don.t quite understand how he can simply return home at the end!

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 05/04/2018 00:41

I think he was feeling threatened by that Gael Reardon and Steve Baldini paid them two people off what Evan owed them, plus to sort Gael out so they probably threatened her and told her to go away "permanently", so Evan felt save to come home. Still surprised me that Faith falls in love with Steve after one week? Lol

Kinraddie · 05/04/2018 00:46

And Dave Coaches was the judge Grin

spacecadet48 · 05/04/2018 01:00

She has gone through absolute hell....not sure how the next series is going to start! Perhaps Evan will be off living with his mother!

Lovelydearie · 05/04/2018 07:11

I loved this!

So Evan was corrupt was he? or just trying to help the police?
Did he sleep with Gael Reardon or not?

Confused!

Fflursan · 05/04/2018 07:23

Im talking about the last episode gwenhwyfar it was a very shit ending.

SofieMonde · 05/04/2018 09:24

So he got in too deep and asked to work with that massive law enforcement bureau....Swansea CID, then found himself with corrupt cops. He love her and his family all along.

Was his mother relaxing on the sofa or dead when the father went to collect some clothes? I thought she had killed herself as the truth about evan's dad was too much for her?

I like the theory that seeing Evan at the end was her conscience. he could go missing again, for a whole 2 more series with another Welsh crime synidcat.

I am not making fun of the Welsh, it is just that we are flooded with so many US cos shows that hearing 'Swansea CID' seems very strange. It was an amazing show and I think totally out of the blue for most people as it provided a real breathe of fresh air. Beautifully shot, scripted and music to boot.

Waspsarewankers · 05/04/2018 09:25

Loved it but it is unfinished. There has to be a series 2. The end was shit because there's still too much mileage to go.
That email has been sent to the met. The mobile phone is in the drain by Faiths house but did the evil police officer delete the video first?

SofieMonde · 05/04/2018 09:26

@Lovelydearie Evan was corrupt and did some dealwith that gang but in the end he says he is just a small town lawyer and couldn't do it.

Did he cheat on her? he was only meeting the CID at the strip club. Did he actually sleep with the irish blonde cocaine lady? I know she loved him and said he was a good man.

spacecadet48 · 05/04/2018 09:36

I thought he slept with her once. When she went in for a kiss he said I cant do this again. Not sure if that referred to the kiss or the criminal activity he had got involved with. As for the mother I thought she was in hospital as Evan sister was saying to her hubbie that she thought her mum was going to die. Anyway lets see what happens in the next series!

Landed · 05/04/2018 10:18

Brilliant! Brilliant! And in case there is any doubt about what I think let me say it once more BRILLIANT! From start to the very very end simply brilliant! Grin

For once a drama where you actually don't waste time watching every single episode. Loved the pace, loved the way emotions felt true to life, the frustration, the upset, the feelings if despair and feeling scared. Faith Staying strong to the very very end.

Brilliant should really win awards left right and centre.

Fontella · 05/04/2018 12:23

And Dave Coaches was the judge

Hahaha - yep, it took me AGES to figure out who it was. He looked so similar and then towards the end the penny dropped!

Grin
Fontella · 05/04/2018 12:32

I think there will definitely be another series - they left way too many loose ends for there not to be. Such an excellent production and cast.

Also it's one of the best bi-lingual dramas to come out of Wales in a long time - they shoot the two versions simultaneously and then the Welsh language version (Un Bore Mercher / One Wednesday Morning) is broadcast first on S4C and then the English version on BBC Wales.

A lot of it is shot in Laugharne - where some of my family come from. My grandparents lived on one of the streets shown.

I also recognised the Square in Carmarthen town centre and the court building is also in Carmarthen.

augustusglupe · 05/04/2018 13:27

And Dave coaches was the judge
Me too Grin I knew he was familiar, so I paused it and then I knew!

Cagliostro · 05/04/2018 16:38

I just watched the last episode. WTF 🤯

OP posts:
ThisBabyIsAnOctopus · 05/04/2018 16:46

I've just finished episode 8 and I'VE NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT!!!! Who was bad?Who was good? Who was Arthur really?!?!

LizzieDarcy1907 · 05/04/2018 16:59

I'm going to watch it again later, as frankly I watched last night and had no clue what was going on Grin. Really glad there is another series in development though. I had a feeling Evan would just walk in through the door........

MissDuke · 05/04/2018 17:06

I think I might watch it all again from the start as am so confused!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/04/2018 17:06

Just found the thread. I've been really enjoying this programme.

However I hope some "loose ends" get tied up (well, not lose ends exactly). For instance, I want the farmer who ripped up that old bloke's garden, causing him to die, so that he could get his greedy hands on his tied cottage, to get his comeuppance (though I doubt he will). And I want that bitch copper to get hers, too.
