Anyone watch this? Just found it on iplayer. Love Eve Myles, her husband goes missing in it.

OP posts:
Bamaluz · 14/03/2018 18:03

The main town is Laugharne, the hotel was in Porthcawl, and Arthur Davies was in Barry Island when he took the phone from the bin.
I think they have used locations all along the South Wales coast.

Can't help with the plot at all though.

Thamesis · 14/03/2018 20:35

Enjoying it but agree could be a bit more pacey.

What about the other solicitor? She's living in a flat with no furniture. Gambling? Can't remember if there were other clues?

ReelingLush18 · 15/03/2018 06:32

None of them are quite as they seem, are they?

The other solicitor has a lovely home even if it is furniture free.

I think Evan owed the traveller family money for some dodgy deals he'd been roped into helping them with? Presumably he did so because he needed the money to shore up the firm?

I'd forgotten about the gun on the boat. And what was the holster thing Faith found in a bag on the boat in episode 4?

MaitreKarlsson · 15/03/2018 20:54

Just watched episode 5.
Have realised Steve Baldini is played by Mark Lewis Jones and I first saw him several (cough) decades ago when I was on a school trip to Wales to see The Caretaker. Was a big fan even back then. At least I am consistent in my taste Blush
Meanwhile episode 5. Is Faith cracking up? I am losing track of how much money she owes everyone. 80k here, 200k there, cocaine fees to Reardon, hush money to the crooked dentist.
That drill scene reminded me of Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman. Scary.

Thinkingofausername1 · 16/03/2018 09:39

Watched it yesterday it's fab!

Anniegs · 17/03/2018 12:44

I’ve binged watched this on iPlayer - what a delight makes me want to head back to s wales immediately. Love the interaction of the children with Eve I wondered if they were her own as it seems SO natural! A bit disapproving of scenes where the children seem to be bundled off or left alone though😵

Lastoftheusernames · 18/03/2018 22:40

I've quite enjoyed this on iPlayer, but one of the greatest mysteries is how that house can have a lovely, large open plan kitchen/living area plus a couple of rooms coming of it downstairs, but the 3 children are all cramped together in one bedroom.

tattychicken · 19/03/2018 12:07

I thought that! It's massive downstairs but apparently only 2 bedrooms upstairs. Weird.

ReelingLush18 · 19/03/2018 16:00

I think the children sharing a room is more to fit in the with the tight family unit vibe we're supposed to get about Evan, Faith and the children.

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 20/03/2018 17:13

I absolutely love this programme so far! It's on tonight at 9pm! Looking forward to it :) It just makes me want to go back to Wales again. I love Wales so much. I just want to move there permanently (can only dream!)

ReelingLush18 · 20/03/2018 19:07

I don't know this area of Wales at all. I'm only familiar with Snowdonia. But love the country but for the rain...Mind you, it doesn't look very rainy where Evan and Faith live.

I fell alseep part way through episode 5 so didn't really understand what had happened to the sitting tenant (John???)? Had he been murdered or did he collapse with the stress of being intimidated?

Oh, does that mean that episode 6 will be available to download tonight. Afraid I will be watching Shetland live...

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/03/2018 19:10

Watched it for about 12 minutes. Found it so bloody irritating, cringeworthy and corny. Had to turn it off.

Kinraddie · 20/03/2018 20:42

Just on episode 2 and really enjoying it. Can't believe nobody's commented that the policeman is played by the guy who played Joe Miller (the baddie!) in Broadchurch. And so nice to see Mark Lewis-Jones again who played lovely Rob Morgan in Stella.

calzone · 20/03/2018 22:55

This is my favourite programme of the week!

I love it.

Yes to the baddy from Broadchurch being a policeman now.

ReelingLush18 · 22/03/2018 10:55

Just watched episode 6 and starting to get a bit Hmm. It's all going very pear-shaped for Faith, isn't it??? Is it eight episodes long? I mistakenly thought last night's was the last one. There's a way to go yet isn't there?.

Everyone seems to be dodgy in some way or another. Steve Baldini is coming across as one of the only good guys, even with his previous 'form'.

The senior investigating officer is just viciously vindictive. As is Faith's SIL. I just don't buy that the BIL would have been allowed to be involved in the investigation, given his conflict of interest..

MaitreKarlsson · 23/03/2018 18:02

I'm getting a bit annoyed too ReelingLush. I was the same - thought we were going to find out what had happened to Evan in the finale!! Too many trailing loose ends like John as you say - we haven't found out what happened yet. Or what that mysterious file Tom was shredding was about. Or why that annoying ex-homeless chap Arthur is reporting on Faith and taking photos of everyone (unsubtly in the case of Alpay). Or why Bethan is going nuts (loved the scene where she plundered the empty home's luscious fridge though).
Kinraddie I've been trying to work out who the BIL copper reminds me of - thank you!! He looks quite different bald!

MaitreKarlsson · 23/03/2018 18:04

And I agree DI Williams is comedy evil
Just checked - 8 episodes Wink

Waspsarewankers · 24/03/2018 22:01

I've been watching this but getting annoyed at the slow pace. I stuck with it because it's an 8 parter and I wanted/need something to watch as there's not much on tv at the moment.
The last 2 episodes have quickened in pace and I'm enjoying it alot more.

Hate the police woman. She seems to have lost the plot 're the actual case and just gone to all out war on Faith.
Who was the blonde woman that told Williams to go after the crash? She seems dodgy too!

mancmummy1414 · 24/03/2018 22:34

I’m hooked on this! Amazing soundtrack too.

Penygirl · 25/03/2018 08:18

Yes, that music is great.

MaitreKarlsson · 26/03/2018 22:13

I think the blonde woman was a senior copper from another force...

hopeful2016985 · 27/03/2018 18:24

Remember in one of the first episodes when the vagrant sighted a black BMW outside their house with a stocky person with a baseball cap? That fits her description

hopeful2016985 · 27/03/2018 18:25

I reckon she’s the corrupt police officer Alpay was afraid of

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/03/2018 18:30

I'm confused by there being at least three of the cast of Hinterland in this.
I suppose there is a finite number of Welsh speaking actors

MerryDeath · 27/03/2018 20:47

love the soundtrack- it's on spotify
