Trauma - example of a bad trailer

Anyone feel that TV trailers give away too much? I understand it's a balance but having watched the trailer last night for ITV's new three part drama Trauma I feel like it basically gave away the whole plot bar whatever the denouement turns out to be. Has really put me off watching!

I know what you mean. It’s the same with film trailers, very often far too much of the action or plot is shown. I know they want to lure viewers, but I like to join the dots myself, nothave it done for me.

JustDanceAddict · 12/02/2018 15:20

I hate trailers, they’re usually the best bits of a film too!

neddle · 12/02/2018 15:23

I coined the term 'overtrailered' in our house when The Incredibles was released.
The trailers made it look good, the film was ok, but all the best bits were in the trailers so we'd tired of them already.

nuttyslackster · 12/02/2018 17:59

I agree about film trailers. Often all the best/funny bits are in there and then the film is a real let down as a result.

If the trailer is really long, you can guarantee the film will be shite.

Riverside2 · 12/02/2018 18:12

This one?

No. I like a full trailer. The subtleties wil be crucial. This will be the start of the story I reckon.

Hated Dr Foster though but trying not to pre judge!

nuttyslackster · 12/02/2018 19:10

Yes that's the one. Doctor Foster Series 2 was awful so that also puts me off!

Riverside2 · 12/02/2018 19:12

I didn't get past ep1 of Doctor Foster, but the subject here looks more interesting....hence why I like a full trailer.

If it turns out to be a misleading trailer, I will be annoyed!

AnyFucker · 12/02/2018 21:37

The programme is crap

SavageBeauty73 · 12/02/2018 21:37

Anyone watching? There's no way the surgeon would talk to the bereaved dad without management or a witness.

AlbertaSimmons · 12/02/2018 21:40

DH and I just said exactly that Savage. It’s a bit shit really so I’m going up to read my book instead.

calzone · 12/02/2018 21:40

I’m wondering what the twists are.

AnyFucker · 12/02/2018 21:41

Highly unrealistic. Pretty much every scene so far. Overwrought rubbish....much like Dr Foster was.

darksideofthemooncup · 12/02/2018 21:41

Jon Sim's character isn't very likeable but I suspect that's intentional

SavageBeauty73 · 12/02/2018 21:42

Very unrealistic. Wish I'd watch Collateral instead...

chickensaresafehere · 12/02/2018 21:44

This is shite,so unbelievable.
Won't be watching part 2.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 12/02/2018 21:46

Just came on here to see if a thread was up yet !! Yes...agree with all the above. Hating John Sims character and it's all rather strung out...

WeeM · 12/02/2018 21:46

It’s 9.46 and he hasn’t once mentioned wanting to know who actually killed his son....

I usually love both John Sim & Adrian Lester, but this is crap.

SavageBeauty73 · 12/02/2018 21:51

He would be pestering the police for who actually stabbing his son.

The mum looks pissed off rather than distraught. Her son was murdered.

Oh ffs man !!!! Shut up !!!

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 12/02/2018 21:54

Why on earth would be put himself in that position! So unrealistic.

SavageBeauty73 · 12/02/2018 21:57

The boy was stabbed near his heart. Of course he could die from his injuries. The dad hasn't mentioned who stabbed him once.

Chip on shoulder. Doesn't like the successful surgeon and his professional wife.
