Trauma - example of a bad trailer

Anyone feel that TV trailers give away too much? I understand it's a balance but having watched the trailer last night for ITV's new three part drama Trauma I feel like it basically gave away the whole plot bar whatever the denouement turns out to be. Has really put me off watching!

OP posts:
FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 12/02/2018 21:59

We'll all be back tomorrow won't we ... however shit it's been!

Ruffian · 12/02/2018 21:59

Terrible waste of that cast

AnyFucker · 12/02/2018 22:02

At least Collateral is on I player

WeeM · 12/02/2018 22:04

No chance I’m wasting another hour of my life on it...what a waste of a great cast. Asking the dr if he wanted to say a few words at the funeral, I mean seriously wtaf

Charley50 · 12/02/2018 22:08

Watch Collateral instead. It's pretty gripping.

Ruffian · 12/02/2018 22:08

Goes to the funeral gets verbally abused, accused of criminal negligence, physically assaulted. OH asks how the funeral went and he says 'a bit difficult'.

DorynownotFloundering · 12/02/2018 22:19

Good , not creepy at all, ending though.

Clawdy · 12/02/2018 22:19

So he wandered down strangely deserted corridors and then barged into the operating theatre where his son was......ludicrous. He would never have been allowed anywhere near it.

Piggywaspushed · 12/02/2018 22:26

Utter dogshit.

beachcomber243 · 12/02/2018 22:27

Every scenario was unbelievable, just ridiculous. Why no focus on the person who did the stabbing? Why would he be able to just walk into an operating theatre, and wouldn't the staff in there go nuts? Etc. etc...

I shan't watch the rest of it, the programme isn't worth my time. Sod the atmospheric creepy music, it's as bad as Doctor Foster and Broad Church remakes. Rubbish.

crimsonlake · 12/02/2018 22:36

It was so bad I turned over.

BeachOrPool · 12/02/2018 22:37

Sorry to derail the thread OP but can somebody PLEASE tell me what song is being played on the advert?

Riverside2 · 12/02/2018 22:37

I recorded it
Judging from comments on Twitter it's as unrealistic as Dr Foster so I think I'll skip it

Housemum · 12/02/2018 22:47

Utter tripe. Sadly teenage DD2 enjoyed it so will end up with it on for next episodes - I will be crocheting and barely paying attention though...
Why didn't John Sim/wife rant and rave about the unknown attacker?
How did he get into theatre?
Why did Adrian Lester suddenly lose all profressionalism and act shifty?
First time JS talks to him, when he starts to suggest something might be wrong, why did AL not immediately refer him to the PALs service or suggest he puts his issues in writing to the chief exec? (Unless he actually did balls up in which case that explains it)

Esker · 12/02/2018 22:49

Awful from start to finish. Unless they introduce a twist soon there is absolutely zero complexity. Right now it's just an angry grieving man (deeply unsympathetic portrayal which makes it all the more frustrating) wrongly accusing a surgeon.

To add to all the other flaws aforementioned... you are harassed and stalked by a grieving parent and at no point mention to a colleague or superior?

beachcomber243 · 12/02/2018 23:12

Amazing that the surgeon could spend minutes of his day talking to an angry dad/stalker who had been aggressive and confrontational... instead of calling security and/or getting on with the job he was paid to do.

If only I could get 5 minutes with my GP just when I demanded it after being obnoxious to her. So not true to real life it's staggering.

LindyHopSkipRunner · 12/02/2018 23:31

Just watched it - agree it was terrible. Neither parent giving a shit about who stabbed their son? I can't suspend belief that much even for John Simm's acting.

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/02/2018 00:17

Well, that was a load of shite. Much like Dr Foster.

Collateral, on the other hand, has hooked me right in.

ohfourfoxache · 13/02/2018 00:32

Well that was a load of tripe Confused

What concerns me is that, if there is a twist and somehow the surgeon fucked up, it’s probably going to harm the profession IRL. Basically because there are some people out there who insist that there are problems where none genuinely exist.

BitOfFun · 13/02/2018 01:17

I have to agree with all these comments. Disappointing.

nokidshere · 13/02/2018 01:46

If I put it on again it will only be to sigh over Adrian Lester

HelenaDove · 13/02/2018 02:47

Watched Collateral on i player V. gripping. Shaping up to be as good as State of Play was.

Piggywaspushed · 13/02/2018 07:21

I have always loved John Simm and was disappointed by him in both : he seemed to be going through the motions at times and overacting at others. He's not a convincing MP and certainly not a convincing bereaved father. And Trauma was beyond preposterous, although the reviews today seem to be very favourable.

Little Boy Blue was the most devastating portrait of grief and bewilderment I have seen lately : they could all take lessons from that.

SavageBeauty73 · 13/02/2018 08:29

I watched both last night. Thought Collateral was excellent apart from John Simm. I can't get over Billy's character smoking in her flat 70's parenting style.

Piggywaspushed · 13/02/2018 09:01

I think it says something that I care more who murdered the pizza delivery guy , who had one line, than who killed a 15 year old boy...
