Trauma - example of a bad trailer

Anyone feel that TV trailers give away too much? I understand it's a balance but having watched the trailer last night for ITV's new three part drama Trauma I feel like it basically gave away the whole plot bar whatever the denouement turns out to be. Has really put me off watching!

He's visiting the mother!! It wouldn't happen.

Longdistance · 13/02/2018 21:24

I watched it last night, and thought it was shit.

I’m not going to put myself through it again. As above, the fact the lad was attacked and by who was hardly touched on, he was too busy blaming the doctor. What a load of rubbish.

Crispbutty · 13/02/2018 21:28

Just watched last nights and part way through tonight’s. Am very disappointed with it though and I have loved watching John Simms since The Lakes but this is very poorly written.

HelenaDove · 13/02/2018 21:37

I had high hopes for this because of the cast.

Dancergirl · 13/02/2018 21:46

I think it’s a bit rubbish too. But dd was an extra so have to watch it in case we see her!

The doctors manager - what has he been in? It’s bugging me.

HelenaDove · 13/02/2018 21:53

Hes bought her the same outfit the docs wife was wearing and wanted to have sex with her while she was wearing it............sick

OnlyAbigail · 13/02/2018 21:56

John Simm's character is such a total loser! It's embarrassing to watch!

HelenaDove · 13/02/2018 21:56

YY Abigail.

Clawdy · 13/02/2018 22:47

I'm really intrigued as to how he knew where to buy that dress from! He saw it, seemed to know what it was, and where to get it....don't know a single man who could do that!

darksideofthemooncup · 13/02/2018 23:09

It's just odd, I'm still none the wiser at how we are meant to feel about any of the characters as they are all quite unlikeable.I felt for Dan's wife though, imagine to live with him!

MollyHopps · 13/02/2018 23:23

I didn’t get beyond the surgeon turning up at the duneral, so I am glad that reading here it seems my judgement isn’t wrong on this one.

What a pile of fucking crap! That’s two on a row, if anyone else watched Kiri?

3catsandcounting · 13/02/2018 23:33

Dancergirl - it was bugging me too, then it came to me; he was the manager of Caroline Quentin's character in Life Begins, ages years ago. Travel agency I think?

3catsandcounting · 13/02/2018 23:34

ages years ago? You get my drift?🙄

SeniorRita · 14/02/2018 00:44

Awful. I can barely think of a good ITV drama.
I'd watched most of Kiri, but had forgotten about it. I knew from the first episode that the dad did it. Must try and watch the last one/s I missed

Pemba · 14/02/2018 04:21

Kiri was Channel 4.

To be fair to ITV they have done some good dramas, for instance the first series of 'Broadchurch' was excellent of course, also 'Unforgotten' with Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar. But lately 'Girlfriends', 'Next of Kin' and now 'Trauma' were all disappointing. And when they do get one that is good and a bit different, like 'Brief Encounters' about women doing Anne Summers-style parties during the eighties, they cancel it after one series! Meanwhile the dreadful 'Marcella' is returning, I made a note not to watch again after the last series.

But the BBC turns out plenty of dross too, like the second series of 'Doctor Foster' and also 'McMafia' which I gave up on after two episodes, 'Hard Sun' didn't seem much better. Plus that ridiculous 'The Replacement', about the architect returning from maternity leave.

Maybe they should all produce fewer dramas, but try to make them really good. It's mainly about the writing I think, the actors are usually good.

Putkettleonlove · 14/02/2018 07:24

Clawdy as a doctor married to a surgeon in real life I can confirm the likelihood of John Simm's character locating and buying the psychiatrist's dress just like that is the least realistic thing in the whole ludicrous plot so far! 😂😂😂

Piggywaspushed · 14/02/2018 07:47

The funeral seems to be the only thing Mike Bartlett thought might have stretched credibility, as at least the surgeon protested a bit and said ' we don't normally do that'. Everything else : completely normal and easily achieved...

JustDanceAddict · 14/02/2018 08:45

Watched first ep, cba with the other two as thought it was complete bollocks

CeciliaMiddleton · 14/02/2018 09:38

I thin he'd put himself in that position because he does, on some level, feel guilty, no? If you go back to the very start of the episode you'll see that the doctor WAS drinking at his birthday party - so he definitely lied about that!

This is actually quite a good review I think:www.culturewhisper.com/r/tv/trauma_itv/10969

3catsandcounting · 14/02/2018 10:16

As PPs have mentioned, I think the Doctor is hiding something. Why the near-disastrous climbing scene at the beginning?
He also appears quite hyper on a few occasions; is that just his character, or maybe drug-induced?

I'll have to watch this evening, but won't be sad it's over.

Crispbutty · 14/02/2018 10:38

I’m going to watch tonight as I hate starting something and not finishing it. I’m hoping it gets better.

Watched collateral last night and thought that was much better apart from finding it confusing watching John Simm in another series at the same time.

SeniorRita · 14/02/2018 12:35

Well, just went to C4 Catch Up to watch the last 'Kiri', only to find I've seen it - is that it then? Another thing that doesn't really end?

I just watched last Next of Kin, was OK, though as always slightly unfathomable plot.

I agree re McMafia, I couldn't be bothered from the first ep. Girlfriends was OK but totally implausible in every way. Such good actors in it, a shame for them. Am generally unimpressed by Kay Mellor stuff I think. Love, Lies and Records was the same, kept thinking I must have missed the last episode.

I liked Unforgotten actually. I'm not a Broadchurch fan. And that Bancroft thing was bobbins, another thing that didn't really conclude.

fleaflyflo · 14/02/2018 14:22

Am now wondering if the female doctor has a part to play Hmm

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 14/02/2018 21:24

Anybody watching? It's just going from bad to worse
