I agree edithweston I get so annoyed how they completely change a character like that. Tracy from evil, premeditated murdered (charlie stubbs) and didn't she start the fire that killed Kal? And now her and steve are playing happy families and she runs the local florist! She never got caught for burning down the flats

Yes, but Charlie Stubbs was a deeply unpleasant man who treated women dreadfully, so in a way, nobody cared when he was killed, it was almost a form of rough justice.

The plots are so ridiculous I nearly laughed when I saw this on Metro.

Also, have you noticed how there are lots of spoilers on Metro at the moment saying "Is xxx going to be the one to take down Phelan?" or "Is yyy going to be Phelan's downfall?" etc when we know that it's just false hopes?

They're trying to whip up some interest in the storyline.

But it's not really working, is it? I just haven't noticed any 'buzz' about it. Possibly because there's a fair section of the audience who really did not want to see the return of a rapist (given that Anna consented only under duress, and that sort of consent isn't really valid).

How can it be Anna's last scene. Is she going to die in a Osiris accident? Be transferred to Guantanamo? (about as legally plausible as some other stuff)

Charlie Stubbs wasn't that bad, was he? He was the first of the 'builders in morale-boosting vests' wasn't he? Len Fairclough must have been rolling in his grave.

Charlie S was vile and controlling with the Sally Lindsay character, it became really difficult to watch, she was terrified of him. Doubt it would be acted as well these days.

Looks like the door will be left open for Eva. Aidan looks to be leaving before Eva. Rosie will be going on maternity leave. She is another character they have brought back and then totally sidelined - she must loves cashing the paychecks for saying one or two lines a couple of times a month!

The Windasses were a Neighbour From Hell family when they joined Corrie.
They ordered the kitchen from Joe ( Gail's DH, own firm) had it fitted , wouldn't pay then trashed it and moved practically next door.
He ended up throwing himself off his boat.

Gary was a nasty arguementative thug.
Anna and Eddie were conning the DSS.

I miss Eddie Windass, he was the better of all 3 of them. I did not like Anna Windass one bit. I don't recall her and Eddie ever getting divorced.

Gary is a pig who needs to grow up. Now that he's reconciled with whats her face I just find her/them laugh out loud funny.

I just read Owen comes back to finish Phelan

We all loved Corrie but stopped watching it months ago. DH said last night it's trying to be all Eastenders and it doesn't work.
It needs to get back to strong characters, simple storylines and the gentle humour it does best.
Instead ridiculous storylines and terrible unlikeable characters.

70isa that's what I don't understand about Anna. They were 'well ruff' when they first came into corrie.

Whenever they bring in a so-called "rough" family , they always end up as salt-of-the-earth folk. They did it with the Battersbys as well as the Windasses. And also characters like Kylie and her sister. Not forgetting Gemma, who was a sullen, grim faced teenager in thrall to a gang of villains! Somehow she became a chirpy sweet comedy character, must be the magic of living on Coronation Street.......

When Craigie moved in with Darren (his rat) he was portrayed as a horrible louty teen, sneering at Tracey-Luv and pushing crisps down while Darren raided the breadbin to scare Tracey.

Now he's sweetness'n'light and the only decent PC in the village (Kirsty and Nathan set the bar low though !)

Oh yes, I forgot the Craigie original ! Tyrone was a bit like that too, stuffing his face, and looking gormless, with dodgy mates and a jailbird mum.
