I disliked Blue peter as a child and still do.

Round the twist! Scared the hell out of me!

Weezol · 11/01/2018 15:16

Thank heavens it's not just me re: Moomins. If I ever say that in real life people look at me as if I've announced that I find Trump attractive.

BLUESEAPARADISE · 11/01/2018 15:46

Brum ...

I still remember my nightmare involving Brum and the " bad guys" robbing my house as we got ready for bed / slept ... as a result still absolutely petrified of the car!

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 11/01/2018 21:12

In defence of the Moomins, the books are fantastic - the writing's beautiful and very astute (and they found one hell of an English translator). So much of the quality of it is in the narrative/descriptive stuff that I think just doesn't translate to the cartoon.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/01/2018 21:18

Tomorrow’s World
Jakanory
Heads and Tails , bored me shitless
The Sullivan’s
Sunday dreads from Onedin Line , Heartbeat , Howard’s Way Music (but I loved the actual drama of Jan and Ken)
I wasn’t keen on cartoons at all apart from things like Mary , Mungo , Midge

zukiecat · 11/01/2018 21:21

I loved Blue Peter!

So did my DDs growing up,

I hated Tiswas, not a patch on Swap Shop Smile

I also couldn't stand Dr Who (still hate it now)

Emmerdale Farm when it used to be on at 5.10pm, my mum watched it and I thought it was the most boring thing ever

zukiecat · 11/01/2018 21:25

Ladybird

The Tales of The Unexpected when the man and baby turned into bees was one of my favourite episodes Grin

It was the one where the seemingly nice old woman lured the young girl to the caravan, only for her to find out she was one of the murderers that scared the beejaysus out of me

Parky04 · 11/01/2018 21:29

Bagpuss! Really disliked that programme as well as Why Dont You.

motleymop · 11/01/2018 21:31

The Wonder Years used to bore me senseless but I watched it anyway. And Happy Days. Happy Days was really dire actually.

missyB1 · 11/01/2018 21:52

Oh yeah “Why don’t you” used to make me cringe!

PurpleStarInCashmereSky · 11/01/2018 22:09

Chuckevision or anything with the Chuckle Brothers. They fucked me right off and Ihad to leave the room from sheer annoyance.

Found Blue Peter boring but would tolerate it.

ohanabanana · 11/01/2018 22:09

I can’t remember the programme but that Noseybonk character was creepy as f!
Quite like a lot of the other shows mentioned here - Rentaghost, why don’t you, willo the wisp.
Howard’s Way was the show that gave me the Sunday Night Chills.

Minecraftfan · 11/01/2018 22:29

The Sunday Service
Songs of praise
Rentagoast
Pinkwindmill

scrabbler3 · 11/01/2018 23:14

I found The Wombles boring.

Also hated the weather forecast.

The Tales of the Unexpected episode with the bees was on Sky Arts recently. Very chilling. I've watched a few actually, they're very good.

Ladybirdbookworm · 12/01/2018 00:21

Omg Armchair thriller !!!!!

The Nun in the rocking chair with no face !!!!! I'm still disturbed

Roll Dahl sitting devilishly in his chair at the start of Tales of the Unexpected and the theme tune with the silhouettes of dancing women amongst flames and playing cards ........My Grandma used to babysit us on a Saturday night - she really didn't worry about suitable viewing for 3 small granddaughters Grin

maddiemookins16mum · 12/01/2018 09:01

Oh and the worst was a series called The Brothers. Very 70's and I think revolved around brothers running a business, it was probably very unsuitable for a primary school child but my mum liked it.

areyoubeingserviced · 12/01/2018 09:38

Hammer House of Horrors
Does anyone remember the episode starring Nicholas Ball when a child ‘s birthday party turned into a blood bath?
I had nightmares for months

maddiemookins16mum · 12/01/2018 09:56

Oh yes, I remember The House That Bled...or words to that effect. It was the scariest one ever and I've never forgotten it.
That series with the nun at the girls boarding school starred a young Patsy Kensit I think.

JustDanceAddict · 12/01/2018 09:59

Love the nostalgia here.
Blue Peter - was ok, depended on what they covered really but I wasn’t a big fan.
Jackanory could also be boring.
Loved Tales of the Unexpected and still have vague memories of it.
Hated any classical music concert that my dad would listen to and the whole house would reverberate to it.

HebeMumsnet · 12/01/2018 10:03

Terrahawks! I was petrified of Zelda. And it was on in the middle of the day on Sundays, when you could just be innocently wandering past the telly on your way to not doing your homework, and THERE SHE'D BE like a rotten puppet corpse with scary hair.

Aethelthryth · 12/01/2018 10:06

The Singing Ringing Tree. Terrifying
Scooby Doo- boring
Rentaghost-boring
Swap Shop- didn't live up to expectations. Couldn't stand Keith Chegwin

Really loved the low budget dramatisations of children books on Wednesdays and Sunday tea times - A Little princess, Kizzy, the Changes etc

Birchy1 · 12/01/2018 10:09

Keith Harris and Orville !! It used go through me so bad my teeth actually hurt !!!!

Roomba · 12/01/2018 11:01

When I was about 5 or 6, Alfred Roberts' first wife was killed in a car crash on Corrie. It terrified me and for years I would run out of the room as soon as the theme tune started and refuse to come back in until it was over Grin

Also my mum loved that Sunday night about the dressmaking sisters in the 20s (ah! Just googled it - The House of Elliott!). It was so boring to me and every episode seemed to end on a cliffhanger with one of the women looking shocked and gasping, 'Jack!'

Ladybirdbookworm · 12/01/2018 13:07

*areyoubeingserved

Hammer house of horror when the diving gave way and all of the blood came spitting out over the birthday tea - loved it.
Absolutely terrifying .
