Chocky. Fucking terrifying

Slartybartfast · 11/01/2018 06:07

Why dont you - yes switch off the telly and go and do something else more interesting - i think was the phrase
Magpie
Songs of praise - can't see the point personally
antiques roadshow - yep - lowers the mood being sunday evening

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 11/01/2018 06:20

Chorlton and the Wheelies - just weird and disturbing
The Flumps - drippy and boring
Screen Test - duller than mud
Worzel Gummidge - Aunt Sally was a bitch and Worzel was grubby

HeteronormativeHaybales · 11/01/2018 06:46

The 10 little Indians thing is called Apaches and tbh I really wouldn't watch it IIWY Shock

A similar one is The Finishing Line, about railways.

Also not a fan of Blue Peter et al, though I didn't 'hate' programmes because I didn't watch/tuned out if they didn't interest me. I also don't remember anything I found really disturbing (apart from public information films).

Smiling/wincing with recognition at the Sunday teatime holy trinity of Antiques Roadshow, Songs of Praise and Last of the Summer Wine/later Heartbeat.

Fiderer · 11/01/2018 06:48

The Armchair Thriller with the nun haunted me for months.
Hated Magpie - smug gits.

Some Chinese/Japanese? programme which I only watched because my mum thought my brother & I both loved it and she was usually v against TV. Cannot remember what it was called & Google is no help. The Something (Marshes?) of Yang Shang ? Something. Grin

areyoubeingserviced · 11/01/2018 06:49

The Walton’s.

LightastheBreeze · 11/01/2018 07:22

I had forgotten about the nun Armchair Thriller, it is on Youtube so I must watch it again and see if it is as scary

Also didn't like Magpie

Slartybartfast · 11/01/2018 07:32

google tells me it was
Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go Out and Do Something Less Boring Instead? ran from Aug 73 to April 95.
surprising it ran for so long with that tagline

Nakedavenger74 · 11/01/2018 07:43

Mini Pops. What the fuck?!

Fiderer · 11/01/2018 08:00

Found it - The Water Margin, where the 'Marshes of Yang Sang Po' came from, don't know!
It freaked me out but I was too stubborn to admit it.

ArbitraryName · 11/01/2018 08:31

Yes to the Look and Read series The Boy from Space but also the one they did called Dark Towers. Creepy knight!!*

I loved Dark Towers. My mum was a teacher and I remember she took it with us on holiday (visiting her cousin in guernsey) and we watched it there. Looking back, that seems a weird choice of holiday viewing.

DS2 watched Geordie Racer at school.

Thishatisnotmine · 11/01/2018 09:03

Woof. About the boy who turned into a dog. Ridiculous.

CrumpettyTree · 11/01/2018 09:05

Fingerbobs and Jackanory

BoredOnMatLeave · 11/01/2018 09:09

Only fools and horses. Reminds me of being bored on Christmas day and my family laughing at the "jokes" which I still don't find funny.

And "you've been framed". I used to go to my dad eow and he would put it on and ignore me because he thought I would find it funny. Anything to avoid parenting

Broadwsybabe · 11/01/2018 09:14

I loved Rentaghost and Grotbags. I hated Hulk and Hart to Hart

Chathamhouserules · 11/01/2018 09:16

Mr Ben - very scary to 4 year old me

TeaAddict235 · 11/01/2018 09:19

TeaAddict235 · 11/01/2018 09:27

The moomins (freaks)
The magic roundabout (even back then I knew that someone on something dodgy must have created that!)
Thunderbirds (I mean, come on how rubbish was that),
Mork and Mindy
Happy days (I was a bucket of laughs me)

TeaAddict235 · 11/01/2018 09:32

@LemonysSnicket
You hated Ed, Edd and Eddy Shock and Cat dog? Shock. Did you like Cow & Chicken or REN and stimpy? Wink
For me, the Cartoon Network Stuff was like Netflix today, finally stuff that I wanted, albeit that I was probably doing my GCSEs and a levels.

Dulra · 11/01/2018 14:17

Monkey magic. Hated it gave me the creeps but my siblings loved it

Dontsayyouloveme · 11/01/2018 14:36
