Slightly copying the old thread's title...

Come on Corrie writers! Get a grip! This is the thread to moan about the utter tosh that we end up watching, or in some cases to praise the actors because some of them are actually pretty good! Let's discuss!

OP posts:

I know nothing in Corrie is ever realistic but could Toyah really just pick up Eva's baby and pretend it's the surrogates. What would happen with a birth certificate/passing over child benefit etc?

Akire · 30/01/2018 12:23

Yes not keen on way like sionard termination at few weeks and few pills. Then at 18/19 weeks your waters break you give birth to small but proper baby. (Even looked it up to check facts) Eva makes out in 2h of cramps it’s all gone.

Can’t say surrogate needed support and hospital stay when lost here and same hand Eva out back bar and all ok when same size

deadringer · 30/01/2018 12:49

It's a daft storyline. It is totally understandable for Toyah to want Eva's baby, she has just lost her last chance to have one of her own, but for Eva to go along with it is mental! It won't end well that's for sure. Is there any chance that the surrogate could still be pregnant with a second baby without knowing it, Peter is a twin after all, or would that have been checked at the hospital. I am sorry I don't know much about procedures after a miscarriage. It would be a twist though if they ended up with two babies.

ChevalierTialys · 30/01/2018 13:16

Just googled coronation street first appearances. Makes for fascinating watching.

Sidsreadingdiary · 30/01/2018 14:06

I totally agree that the surrogacy story line is utterly ridiculous. Surrogacy is morally and ethically complicated enough without adding all these lies and subterfuge.

In the clinic Eva said that she did not think she would be able to give her baby up for adoption, yet a few minutes later she is agreeing to hand her baby over to a woman who is sort of her sister. Not only will she have to give her baby to someone else, but then she will have to watch that baby being brought up by other people.

I enjoyed Eileen being sacked.

millimat · 30/01/2018 14:12

Did Steve reinstate Eileen?

CheeseandFickles · 30/01/2018 14:22

I'm gonna find out when and where Corrie are filming, make the journey there and snatch that bastard toothpick out of Peter's mouth.

I accept it may be irrational but it infuriates me Angry

LineySt · 30/01/2018 14:22

Yes, Steve immediately reinstated Eileen. Because tribunal.

Hopefully Tim will sack her again.

thenightsky · 30/01/2018 14:32

The Eva/Toyah surrogacy thing is beyond ridiculous now. Has anyone not considered Aiden in all this? It is half his baby after all. And if Eva has to disappear when she starts showing, isn't Adam going to be all suspicious? If she's sleeping with Adam at the moment, hasn't he already noticed anything... slight bump and lack of periods to start with?

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 30/01/2018 14:46

slight bump and lack of periods to start with?

A lot of women are on hormonal contraception that means no periods. Also, what man that values his life ever mentions a woman's Weight gain? Grin

thenightsky · 30/01/2018 16:28

Grin Donny

eddiemairswife · 30/01/2018 16:32

What I find unrealistlc about Corrie pregnancies is that no-one ever suffers from sickness (apart from the one obligatory dash to the toilet before the character even suspects they are pregnant); no-one ever feels like death in the early weeks. The only difference to their lives is that they stop drinking, and worry about people guessing the reason why.

woodhill · 30/01/2018 16:56

I'm glad Eileen was sacked too

Kikashi · 30/01/2018 18:54

Me too! very annoyed with Steve. Yeah for Tim- finally taking control and supporting Faye. Eileen gloating face when she was reinstated - ahh!! Faye is a child fgs. They kick off!

Clawdy · 30/01/2018 19:35

Steve had no option really, there is no way Eileen could be sacked so summarily, unfortunately. She'd worked there for years. I am so looking forward to seeing her face when she finally finds out the truth. Not for quite a while I suspect! Shock

Akire · 30/01/2018 19:39

Was thinking it be hard for Eva to not drink but when you work in the bar you can make it look how you like.

GlacindaTheTroll · 30/01/2018 20:29

"A lot of women are on hormonal contraception that means no periods"

Not Eva - at the time she had the brief scare that led to her deceiving Aidan, she mentioned to Leanne that she was regular as clockwork.

And presumably she actually conceived towards the end of that deception? (They haven't been having break-up sex , have they?)

Akire · 30/01/2018 20:31

THEY were having sex for good few months not using anything because she wanted to get pregnant while he thought she already was.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 30/01/2018 20:34

Not Eva - at the time she had the brief scare that led to her deceiving Aidan, she mentioned to Leanne that she was regular as clockwork.

What I meant was if I was Adam and had even noticed a lack of periods I would assume it was due to contraception like lots of women.

ellenanora5 · 30/01/2018 20:43

Ah feck, did Steve give her the job back, she'll be smuggler than ever, I can't wait to see the smile wiped off her face.

GlacindaTheTroll · 30/01/2018 20:45

I mean that there couldn't have been an absence of periods, because we know she was menstruating, and because being just a day late was enough for her to feel the need to test.

She's have noticed if she'd missed one, and she didn't. (And I'm reasonably sure she told the doc she's had no PG symptoms, but as I tend to be MNetting whilst Corrie is on, I may well have got that wrong)

Akire · 30/01/2018 20:53

She went away Holiday for a month but said was to busy notice with relaxing and everything. That she not had one for last 4months.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 30/01/2018 20:53

I think She told Shona she couldn’t remember when her last period was “with everything that had gone on”

EggysMom · 30/01/2018 21:09

I read tonight that the new, bigger Corrie set is going to have a Co-op and a Costa Coffee. We won't get to see the insides though, and the article goes to length to reassure us that Roys Rolls and Dev's shop won't be impacted Grin

(I don't count this as a spoiler, it's nowt to do with actual storylines!)

Kikashi · 30/01/2018 21:22

Yes Sally and some other residents had co op bags a few weeks ago and Shona, David and Maria had Costas in the hairdressers last episode.

Dev's shop is looking pretty swish these days he had a bread and pastries table on show the other day.
