Anyone watched it? Well acted and gripping, James Norton good as usual. Also nice change to see so many new faces. But I'm not sure about watching seven more episodes........

God I love Oksana.

Antonio confused me too. I THINK it is not the same Antonio he knew at Harvard, but this guys' name really is Antonio Mendez (otherwise surely his other guests would have been confused?). It's a fairly common name I guess and he just decided to capitalise on the coincidence?

(Although I don't get how he knew that Juliet Rylance doesn't know the full story. Surely everyone would assume she was aware, and fine with it?)

I think the boat person/DREAMer background is Boat Antonio's true story though, not Harvard Antonio's.

I enjoyed Vadim in Prague. I think his murder of the policeman is going to backfire on him. I appreciated his intimate knowledge of what throwing someone off their own balcony is like Grin

Loving it. I have to get DH to tell me what happens in the scary bit, but apart from that I thought it was brilliant.

I think the point about James Norton’s character is that he is inscrutable. So the wooden act is covering for him being out of his depth - or is he? - and also a legacy of his family background.

AgentProvocateur · 07/01/2018 22:27

I’m loving this too. Although why anyone would willing gonjnto a locked cellar with someone who is trying to blackmail them is beyond me! Nothing good is ever found in a locked cellar. Where did we see Marsha before - is she the daughters friend?

EllaHen · 07/01/2018 22:33

Holdme - JN told boat Antonio that his girlfriend didn't know about his money laundering ways.

I reckon he picked the Harvard Alumni who looked closest to him. His people would know who is really is and are playing along.

Clever guy though - to work out Boris's killer, track him down and kidnap him.

Everyone has a back story, a reason for their actions/loyalties. Even Joseph, Kleiman's guy.

EllaHen · 07/01/2018 22:35

Yes, Marsha is Katya's friend. I don't get why she speaks Russian, as does JN but Katya doesn't. Just a plot device?

NancyDonahue · 07/01/2018 22:44

JN's mum's speech to his dad's mistress was superb. 'You'll need to wipe his ass with a Kleenex' Grin

(Sorry, so crap at remembering character's names!)

ButteredScone · 07/01/2018 22:50

I think the Katy’s thing is to show that she has pushed away from her family - no Russian, black boyfriend - but she looks more Russian than Alex and has a Russian name so maybe it was harder for her.

EllaHen · 07/01/2018 23:03

Yes Nancy - that speech should be given to every mistress by every cheated wife. Grin

MsHarry · 08/01/2018 14:42

Loving it but having to leave the room when violence looms. Loving the Norton though....oh yeah!

Oblomov18 · 09/01/2018 11:27

Just watched 3. Violence didn't bother me.
Couldn't work out why he'd go to France to meet Mendez really. And no, probably not the real Mendez from Harvard. And Mendez doesn't really 'have' anything on Alex.

And how many weeks have passed in this story? why is Alex able to get away with not showing the fund details to his woman colleague?

how is he getting away with this?

Yes wife's words to mistress were good.

His Fiancé is super clean, isn't she? Too much so. We can all smell a rat 🐀....

MrsT1984 · 09/01/2018 15:54

I think Alex mentioned near the beginning that it'd been 5 weeks since his father threw himself off the roof, could be wrong though, there's so much to keep up with!

MsHarry · 09/01/2018 16:29

What a strange relationship JN and girlfriend have. They seem to communicate via looks only!

I think Vadim mentioned it had been 3 months since the other chap got chucked off the balcony.

MadgeMak · 09/01/2018 17:35

Yes, 3 months since the Czech guy got chucked off his balcony. And the physio asked Alex’s dad how long it had been since his accident and it had been 10 weeks so presumably the time line is Alex in Prague 3 months ago, with his dad jumping off the roof around 2 weeks later.

RhiannonOHara · 12/01/2018 11:16

Antonio confused me too. I THINK it is not the same Antonio he knew at Harvard, but this guys' name really is Antonio Mendez (otherwise surely his other guests would have been confused?)

I'm confused at this too.

I'm confused about all of it TBH.

Who is Masha? I don't remember a rooftop smoking scene with Katya.

Is Tanya (woman in the nightclub who pretended she had known Alex as a child) the same woman who works for the 'snake with glasses' in Tel Aviv and brought him the trafficked girl?

Why does Alex's girlfriend have a vacant half-smile on all the time? She comes across as a simpleton.

Alex's dad and his supposed gloom/angst is just boring.

It's all a bit po-faced: 'This is a VERY SERIOUS drama. Look at all these dreadful things happening. Isn't it all SO SERIOUS?'

Cocolepew · 12/01/2018 12:07

Imagine moving in the type of circles that you can just hop on a plane and stay in a fancy hotel that you don't even have to pay for at a moments notice .
JN girlfriend needs, to stop smiling at every bloody thing.

Teensandfuture · 12/01/2018 12:19

Alex is a Russian name too
Katya is not pushed away, she's younger then Alex and grew up in Britain, completely separate from Russia and it just shows she's the one doesn't accept her Russian roots, she wants to be something different then a russian mafia daughter.
She seems troubled and not accepting her family ,maybe she doesn't know what exactly happening but suspects not everything is legit.

MsHarry · 14/01/2018 19:59

Looking forward to tonight's episode.

Sittinonthefloor · 14/01/2018 22:20

Hmmmm. What made jn's gf suspicious in the first place? Seems really random to start snooping through computers etc. Surely if you thought he'd be capable of that sort of business you'd either ngaf or ltb?

YellowPrimula · 14/01/2018 22:31

I thought she became suspicious when she heard the second phone and then the compliance woman was asking question

Cherrypie32 · 14/01/2018 22:38

Even I, who had only half an eye on it, made out she’d had quite a lot of info to be suspicious of. I’m sure she must have smelt a rat during the south of France visit as clearly the boys weren’t matey as had been made out.

EllaHen · 14/01/2018 22:48

I didn't realise she didn't know about Kleiman. Thought he'd told her Kleiman was legit.

Who the fuck did she think saved the company?

What was the 'upsetting content'? Chokra's body?

We got a bit of emotion from JN tonight - when he said to his gf 'you are all I care about'.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 14/01/2018 22:56

The body and maybe the accountant getting shot?

I liked the techy stuff this week. I can see the guy in London becoming inconvenient.

I think this was a key theme of the book - the guys like Jammy who don’t have any idea what happened before they were involved, or what will happen after, they do their bit in the network in almost total ignorance. It’s v interesting.
