Anyone watched it? Well acted and gripping, James Norton good as usual. Also nice change to see so many new faces. But I'm not sure about watching seven more episodes........

the guys like Jammy who don’t have any idea what happened before they were involved, or what will happen after, they do their bit in the network in almost total ignorance. The white collar MC 'acceptable' side of organised crime. The contrast of the criminal dirty dealings with his 'apple pie' home life.

Still think Kleiman is playing Alex...

Alex has now 'tipped over' well and truly into the dark side in agreeing to the drugs heist in Mumbai (that he must have known would end in serious bloodshed).

Roussette · 15/01/2018 08:27

Loving all of this series.

Alex is getting deeper and deeper isn't he... and agree I think Kleiman is playing Alex too.

I had this feeling of impending doom when Indian computer whizzkid was taken home, then given taxi fare, I knew he wasn't gonna make it out alive... still shocking to shoot him in the head.

Dulra · 15/01/2018 09:02

I wonder whether we have been made believe alex was squeeky clean until his company was going under and that's what turned him to the dark side but maybe he has always been dodgy it's hard to believe he'd get mixed up in drug crime so easily. I reckon he definitely is not what he seems at all

ArtfulPuss · 15/01/2018 09:27

Kleiman is totally playing Alex. He's made sure that Alex has been the conduit for information and financial transactions, and ensured that he was the one to authorise the operation (implicit in Alex's 'Let me know how it goes.'). Alex provided the information about the timing of the shipment (from fake Antonio) and the contact for Jammy (from computer nerdy guy). He is now massively implicated, while Kleiman is smoothly manipulating him into believing they're in it together.

I was so relieved when the computer guy met his family at the station with the cricket bat. Was sure he would be killed like the other poor techie.

What happened to the container? Dilly's man told the driver there'd been a mistake and it had to be returned, but what happened to it after that? It seemed to have been put back on the truck and driven out of the docs - how did that help Dilly/harm Chopra? Was the driver the original driver or had Dilly's man taken hijacked the truck?

hollyisalovelyname · 15/01/2018 12:13

Wasn't the trafficking of the girls utterly heartbreaking.
I heard the author of the Mc Mafia book being interviewed on the Ryan Tubridy show on RTE ( podcast available on the RTE radio website. It's well worth a listen.

thenightsky · 15/01/2018 12:17

sothatdidntwork Dilly's man hijacked the container by sending his own driver and lorry into the port using false ID provided by Mr Jammy on the computer, who also falsified the customs pass/barcode thing on the phone.

sothatdidntwork · 15/01/2018 13:15

Thanks Night - was the container loaded on to dilly's man's truck then - it looked smaller, so I didn't think it could carry a container that size. But yes, that would explain how dilly's man drove it out of the port.

Was the hacker really only paid a (signed) cricket bat? I can't believe he's safe - won't Dilly be worried that he'll go to the police?

thenightsky · 15/01/2018 14:56

The container went onto the correct truck to start with due to Jammy's computer running slow/rebooting, which meant the hijacking truck was late into the port. The hijack driver then said something about there being a mistake, so the container was then removed from the proper lorry and onto the hijacker's lorry.

MissEliza · 15/01/2018 15:05

I thought the series was getting s bit slow last week but last night's episode was pretty good. What is awful is all the 'little' people who get caught up in it all, like the poor accountant who got shot in the head. I suspect the tech guy wasn't shot because he will be useful in the future.
Does anyone else find Juliet Rylance really annoying? I find her wooden and her wardrobe is awful.

EllaHen · 15/01/2018 15:28

Yes, if I was the Indian bad guy I would definitely use the tech guy again. I suspect tech guy knows that the police wouldn't be able to protect him and his family. I did worry about him losing his job.

Agree about the girlfriend's clothes but I did really love the dark blue dress she wore to his parents' house. She was only sitting on the sofa but I loved the cut of the top.

MsHarry · 15/01/2018 15:38

Quote of the episode:

"You spat on my soul."

Brilliant.

EllaHen · 15/01/2018 16:58

Ha ha MsHarry. Dh said that I'm always spitting on his soul.

MsHarry · 15/01/2018 16:59

Well I hope he's joking! Wink

If ever I am in Oksana's position I will spit out that line. Succinct but utterly true.

MsHarry · 15/01/2018 17:01

Ella I loved the dress Rebecca worse in Antibes. It was white/stripey with a cut out back. I liked their living room, much better than the drab bedroom. I really should be paying more attention to the dialogue. This is why I have to keep pausing to ask DH what's happening!

MissEliza · 15/01/2018 23:11

I liked their ensuite shower but the bedroom was pretty small considering how much money they must have.

Snugglepiggy · 16/01/2018 09:36

I actually like the fact they have used authentic Russian speaking actors plus the subtitles.Makes a change from the usual British actors, often very good but we seem to see the same faces cropping up in dramas lately. Also it makes me concentrate, put my I pad and phone to one side and stop googling 'what was she in recently' type stuff.we've had plenty of practice recently though rewatching some Scandi series, plus the recent Spanish one !It makes DH and I far more attentive.

SoupDragon · 16/01/2018 09:40

I guess Computer Guy is kind of safe as he knows the baddies will kill him and his family if he goes to the police. I was expecting him to die though.

A cricket bat and his life is probably a great payment!

sothatdidntwork · 16/01/2018 09:43

ah, but as we know you tend also to get killed in these series even if you don't go to the police! Leaving just the cricket bat as payment!

But maybe computer guy is hoping it was a one off engagement and now they'll leave him alone. That is slightly naive of him though, as his skills are bound to come in handy to Dilly again.

SoupDragon · 16/01/2018 09:52

Yes. He must be a genius to gain access via a chocolate vending machine. I didn’t understand that bit!

ImListening · 16/01/2018 09:59

I thought they’d kill him but I reckon Dilly may need him again so he’s safe for now.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 16/01/2018 10:03

I think he’s safe for now as he’ll be useful. He wasn’t only an IT geek, he was obviously a problem solver too. I don’t know if it’d be a way in in real life, but the vending machine was connected to the internet (stock control?) via an insecure connection that he exploited. We saw the imposter engineer go and replace a chip in it.

Oblomov18 · 16/01/2018 10:17

Spat on my soul.

Who knew? You could hack someone's phone and emails from the chocolate vending machine?
