Like having a really smelly old great-uncle who insists on farting and spitting phlegm when he's having a meal in company.

I was away over the weekend and happened to see a bit of the French version of professional MC. It seemed surprisingly downmarket - they were making lasagne and cannoli (’Italian week', I think). Completely straight, no flourishes to speak of.

Then after they'd booted someone out, they all drank beer with the judges.

Carrot steak? I spent 10 minutes telling my five year old how many animals you can get steak from and now you tell me there are vegetable steaks too?

Have to admit, in the many years I was veggie, my cooking was a lot more imaginative and exciting, just because you have to be a bit wild to give vegetables a bit of zing.
