New thread lassies for all things Jamie and Claire (and all things in between).

Only two episodes left! Hope everyone enjoyed episode 11.

I think it was, but also, Brianna thought she needed Roger in the future to go back to. Claire believes she managed to pass so many times through the stones as she was thinking clearly of someone each time, BJR, Frank, Jamie... Brianna thinks she can't return with Roger in the past as well.

Hello!

Hope nobody minds me climbing on the bandwagon!

I'm new to MN, but am so glad to have stumbled across an Outlander thread!

quirkychick · 15/09/2018 08:06

Welcome, Indulgence.

Lessstressedhemum · 15/09/2018 10:30

Hello and welcome aboard, Indulgence. The more the merrier!

There are some lovely new pics of season 4 on FB.

blibblibs · 15/09/2018 21:12

Well I've rewatched S1-3 and possibly a few episodes more than once and am about to start reading DOA in preparation for Nov.
I am so ready for it Grin
Oh and for anyone who hasn't seen it, if you put 'Is it usual' into YouTube there's a lovely 15 min montage

mateysmum · 16/09/2018 09:54

OK so S4 is now confirmed as Sun 4th November. Is that just for Starz in the USA or will it be on Amazon then too?

Watched a lot of S3 again yesterday up to Claire's version of "it isn't Geordie; it's me... Claire. I shall indulge in the next episode later today.

Cowardlycustard2 · 16/09/2018 09:58

Good morning can I join? Outlander obsessive here! So excited for Season 4 and book 9! I worked out that I have actually re-read the first 8 books an average of 3 times each. Need to get out more Grin

Lonesurvivor · 16/09/2018 10:02

Hi there, I've just finished the second series where could I find the 3rd to watch?
Sorry it's probably mentioned on the thread but I don't want to read through in case I see spoilers, which is really stupid considering I've read all the booksBlush

mateysmum · 16/09/2018 10:26

Lonesurvivor S3 is on Amazon Prime or you can buy the DVD.

Just googled it and S4 is on Amazon on 5th November.

TitilatedOcelot · 16/09/2018 13:11

Watched S1 earlier this year, then read all the books (skipping large chunks of the war of independence, gathering etc!). I had lost track of the character timelines (bit like DG Grin) and hadn't realised they are now in their 60s! Bonkers plotting, but fun!

Just gone back to the tv series, only on S2 but catching up ready for s4.

Indulgence · 16/09/2018 13:50

Thanks everyone Thanks

Very excited for S4. DH bought an Amazon Prime subscription for me just before S3 started (😍) so I wouldn't have to wait for it to come on to UK telly. Which is just as well, as I think S2 has only just finished airing on More4.

Took me a while to start reading the books, but I am so glad I did. Should be finished Voyager soon, and will probably end up reading DoA the same time S4 airs.

Lonesurvivor · 16/09/2018 16:44

mateysmum thank youSmile

I'm very excited to hear there's another book, for some reason I thought the series was finished.

mateysmum · 16/09/2018 16:50

There are 8 very, very thick books to enjoy and she's writing #9 "Go tell the bees that I am gone" at the moment.

crumpet · 16/09/2018 16:54

Another Murtagh suggestion I saw was him taking the Arch Bug role, which would be interesting - would mean a few plot changes further down the line though.

Peridot1 · 16/09/2018 16:56

Someone needs to lock DG in a room until she finishes Go Tell The Bees!

Might need to start going to bed really early to watch it all again before series 4 starts.

JenMumsnet · 16/09/2018 17:34

This last 6 weeks until its back on feel like they will last forever.

Lonesurvivor · 16/09/2018 19:07

mateysmum I've read all 8, most of them at least twice, it's the 9th one I'd thought for some reason wasn't happening. I've became used to waiting years for DG to write the next book so I'm just happy to know there's another in progress.
I read my first book 21 years ago, it wasn't the first in the series it was given to me in a box of books. Dh and are are watching the series and I was saying to him how much times have changed. Over the following 5/6 years I would happen upon one of the books in a library, second hand shop or spot it in a friends shop. I think it's only the last 3 or 4 I've read in order thanks to the arrival of online shopping and Amazon.

Things are so different again now thanks to kindle, if I find a book I like and it's part of an established series, the next book can be got at the touch of a button which I love but a part of me misses rooting around libraries/book shops/friends book shelves for a book I've been hunting for for ages and the euphoria of finding it.

I'm getting Amazon prime and we're starting watching series 3 this weekGrin

snozzlemaid · 17/09/2018 06:51

I saw DG say on Twitter a couple of days ago that Murtagh will be there but won't take over Duncan Innes storylines.

Lessstressedhemum · 17/09/2018 09:42

I hope its not the Arch Bug role, then. Euther that or they need to significantly change future storylines! Murtagh would never betray Jamie.

quirkychick · 17/09/2018 11:59

I agree, Murtagh couldn't exactly be involved in the "Frenchman's Gold" malarkey in later books, surely. I thought Dougal and Jocasta's husband were involved but can't see Murtagh being a third party to that. Someone who remembers better than me, can correct me if I'm wrong, the details are a little hazy.

Lol at someone locking DG up in a room to finish the next book (along with GRRM). What is it with author who get distracted by tv shows Grin.

crumpet · 19/09/2018 22:19

There are a number of side plots which will have to be ditched to fit the number of episodes per season, so conceivably the gold could be one of them (can’t remember how many books ahead it is anyway, but more than the number of seasons so far commissioned I think).

quirkychick · 21/09/2018 07:25

That's true, crumpet, if they get that far, they could always use a different character for Arch Bug's role. I think they did a good job of smoothing out some of the side plots last series, so I'm hopeful they will this time. Also, rounding out some of the other characters a bit more, but keeping the excitement of the plot at the same time.

Peridot1 · 22/09/2018 21:41

I’m currently in Edinburgh with DS for a uni one day. Constantly thinking of Outlander and Jamie and Claire. There is an Outlander locations guided walk but we missed it. Have persuaded DS we need to check out the old town etc tomorrow. Including the close where the printshop scenes were filmed.......

Have Voyager on my kindle so reread the bit where Claire goes back through the stones and to Edinburgh to the printshop.

It’s such a historic city. Why am I obsessing about fictional characters???? Grin

Florabella · 22/09/2018 22:08

It makes me laugh that my other half is the one that wants to visit the shoot locations whenever we are in Scotland. My sister lives very close to Lallybroch and there are lots of others nearby.

mateysmum · 23/09/2018 10:03

Peridot Just keep away from any big stoney looking things arranged in a circle.

Just saying...
