Previous thread here.

Onwards from the costumes of Film Week to the even more costumes and hair and make-up and contact lenses of Hallowe'en... Hopefully this thread will a have a couple of nice tasteful weeks, but we'll see Grin

Used to enjoy this thread but people debating whether a grieving woman is really grieving is distasteful. Ore cried every show. Unless you're in someone's shoes you don't know what they're feeling.

CeeBeeBee · 17/10/2017 18:27

I agree bonfire. Don't understand why people keep bringing it up over and over.

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/10/2017 18:31

Hear hear bonfire

CeeBeeBee · 17/10/2017 18:39

Watching ITT, it seems Nadiya is serious about focussing in the technical aspect for the next dance.

CeeBeeBee · 17/10/2017 18:45

Neil is absolutely hilarious!

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 17/10/2017 20:23

Alexandra and Gorka will dance the Samba to Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran
Aston and Janette will Waltz to Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley (MREE Cover)
Brian and Amy will Jive to It's Not Unusual by Tom Jones
Davood and Nadiya perform the Jive to Tell Her About It by Billy Joel
Debbie and Giovanni dance the Rumba to Baby Can I Hold You by Tracy Chapman
Gemma and Aljaz will perform a Foxtrot to Believe by Madilyn Bailey
Joe and Katya perform a Paso Doble to Diablo Rojo by Rodrigo y Gabriela
Jonnie and Oti dance the Quickstep to Part-Time Lover by Stevie Wonder
Mollie and AJ will perform a Viennese Waltz to Anyone Who Had A Heart by Cilla Black
Ruth and Anton dance the Samba to Love Is In The Air by John Paul Young
Simon and Karen will perform a Charleston to Fit As A Fiddle (And Ready For Love) by Gene Kelly
Susan and Kevin will Cha Cha to South Out To My Ex by Little Mix

I like a few of those, especially Tracy Chapman. Wonder what tempo Rodrigo y Gabriela will be used, it seems very fast. Do like it though.

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 17/10/2017 20:26

Shout out (not my typo, copy and pasted from website)

bonfireheart · 17/10/2017 20:28

Most looking forward to Giovanni & Debbie doing the rhumba! And AJ & Mollie doing a traditional ballroom dance that doesn't involve him throwing her in air. & hopefully a non-sexy, gimmicky jive from Davood.

CaveMum · 17/10/2017 20:45

Bit lucky(!) for Debbie to get Rumba straight after Cha Cha Cha - most of the figures are identical, just danced over a different rhythm - both dances are 4 beats to the bar, in Cha Cha Cha you dance over an extra beat (2, 3, 4 and 1, with the "4, and, 1" counts being the "Cha Cha Cha" part) whereas in Rumba the last two beats are merged (2, 3, 4, 1).

Also there are 4 couples (Alexandra, Brian, Debbie and Joe) that have Latin for the second week in a row - or 5 if you count Charleston as a Latin for Simon.

Only 1 couple has Ballroom for the second week in a row - Jonnie and Oti.

bonfireheart · 17/10/2017 21:26

Did I imagine this but in the really really old series there were only two dances per show and each couple had to dance one of them. So it was easier to compare them.

KittyVonCatsington · 17/10/2017 21:36

Definitely didn't imagine that bonfireheart! I used to prefer that too.

CaveMum · 17/10/2017 21:38

Yup, that's how it used to be, and should still be IMHO!

Also, in the old days, the Salsa and AT did not appear until they were down to the last 5 or 6 couples.

GrouchyKiwi · 17/10/2017 21:46

I preferred that way too. It was easier to compare the dancers, and you had less of the wildly inconsistent scoring that you see nowadays.

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 17/10/2017 21:58

I know everyone dissed Brenda for giving upon Sunetra when she couldn't put the hours in but I liked many of their dances, their VW in particular.

CeeBeeBee · 17/10/2017 23:00

Looking forward to this weeks' dances, especially hoping for significant improvement in Davood's dancing. Also looking forward to seeing Alexandra and Gorka do the Samba, but it will be tough to beat Danny and Oti's from last year.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 18/10/2017 06:40

Monkseal's blog of the results show is up [[https://monkseal.wordpress.com/2017/10/17/strictly-come-dancing-15-week-4-results/ here]] His "Brenda's This Girl" speech is making me laugh so much my mascara's running and I've only just done it. Damn you, Monkseal!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 18/10/2017 06:42

Screwed up that link! Oh well, it still works.

Horsemad · 18/10/2017 08:35

Just read Monkseal's recap; brilliant stuff, and the results blog too! Grin

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2017 11:15

bibliomania I thought that Simon was in a boy group, I didn't know really (not being up with the kids!) I was surprised at how lovely his voice is, a bit like Nat King Cole's.

Who was the best in my book.

GrouchyKiwi · 18/10/2017 11:52

Simon was in Blue, I think.

bibliomania · 18/10/2017 12:28

I love Monkseal.

Yes, SW was in Blue first (I wasn't really a fan) and then did 2 solo albums, which I really liked. He had a hit with Coming Around Again (I think) which is how I started listening to his music. He's just released the third solo album, which I haven't heard.

Don't know whether to be flattered or embarrassed at my apparent SW expertise.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 18/10/2017 13:21

Just catching up on last night's IT2. Is Karen the most irritating of the pros? The hamming it up all the time. I'm soooo zany. The foooooooooooooooooooood stuff. Hmm

Ceto · 18/10/2017 14:14

It would be good if AJ could produce a Viennese Waltz that doesn't involve motoring round the floor at top speed. Did he do a rumba last year? It's difficult to imagine him coping with a slow dance.

RhiannonOHara · 18/10/2017 14:41

Ceto, the VW is meant to be fast though. Twice the speed of a plain waltz.

I think the real question is, can he produce one that doesn't involve picking up his partner all the time, or a horrid floor spin? (I'm with Craig on those; they don't belong in elegant dances.)

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2017 14:45

Thanks biblio Grin I'll ask dh to get some up of SW's music up on Spotify Grin

I'm disliking AJ, he's seems empty headed. A very pretty empty head. A good teacher would tailor the dance to the dancer. Mollie isn't a natural, those lifts didn't suit her at all.
