Oneinamillion they said Karen wasn’t able to do ITT this year. Perhaps connected to the fact she didn’t get the head judge role? I miss her insights hugely.

bookbook · 10/10/2017 08:13

Thanks for the new thread Polka -
nothing to add , just reading and placemarking :)

ElspethFlashman · 10/10/2017 09:34

A great big fuck off to your colleagues bonfire, she was with him since she was bloody 21 or something, of course she's lonely. I'm sure doing Strictly is as much about distraction as anything. (And the need to make a few bob given those stepsons looking for half the estate or whatever)

I would LOVE to know how many of the pros and celebs read Monkseal on the quiet. You know they do.

SoupDragon · 10/10/2017 10:17

I would have thought a lot of Debbie's grieving was done between Paul's diagnosis and his death. Enough that she can throw herself into these distractions. I have no issue with how much fun she's had with Strictly or Masterchef - IMO living life to the fulll is perhaps the best path. It's ridiculous to make judgements.

From his TV persona I can imagine Paul cheering her on from his afterlife of choice.

I've decided not to look at these threads during the programme this year - partly because I found it distracted a little from my enjoyment and partly because I've often paused it so am watching I think behind everyone else!

The dances I enjoyed most this week were the Rev Richard's and Aston's. Not necessarily for the same reasons!!

My imaginary bet for the winner though is going on Jonny. If he carries on as he is he will get good scores and I think he will also be popular with the public.

MrsJayy · 10/10/2017 10:19

Hello my dears Glitterball

CaveMum · 10/10/2017 11:36

I think once Jonnie relaxes a bit more his personality will begin to shine through in the dances.

Judging by his performance on The Last Leg during the Paralympics last year (flitting about in a tutu, playing up to Josh Widdicombe's Man Crush on him, etc), he's got a wicked sense of humour!

SoupDragon · 10/10/2017 11:59

I will hold my hand up and fully admit that I expected him to show signs of struggling due to his prosthetic leg. Holy crap how wrong I was!!

ElspethFlashman · 10/10/2017 13:12

I knew he'd be fine cos whatserface Paul McCartney's ex was on one of these things. Was it the US one? And she managed fine. I knew he'd be just the token Hot Athelete more than anything.

But it isn't perfect cos the weight bearing isn't always the same in fast dances and he does favour his original leg I notice. And of course the ankle doesn't bend the same way. So I don't know if he's a finalist.

FuzzyCustard · 10/10/2017 18:42

Eventing all. I see on IT" the lovely Erin also thinks Brenda and Char did some rise and fall. She would have been a good replacement for Len.

IhaveChillyToes · 10/10/2017 20:01

Great demo from Erin about Brenda

ThursdayLastWeek · 10/10/2017 20:18

Oh I’ve just seen that Oti and Jonnie are dancing to Cry me a River, the Buble version. I LOVE the opening bit of music to that song.

Theromanempire · 10/10/2017 22:15

Simon = samba and Charlotte = jive. Not looking like it's going to be a good week for either of them is it?

CeeBeeBee · 10/10/2017 22:23

There is a piece about Brenda complaining about Bruno's comments about Davood and Nadiya's quickstep and other contestants being x-factor winners. I think they're making him out to be some bitter person who can't stand losing.

No idea how long they'll last, but Charlotte and Brenda really need to do a "wow" dance to turn things around.

CeeBeeBee · 10/10/2017 22:27

Sorry, too many "abouts" in one sentence! Blush

Theromanempire · 11/10/2017 06:15

I agree that they need to do a wow dance but I am sure it isn't going to be the jive Confused

Strange link between being an x factor winner and being good at dancing...last time I checked, the X factor is a singing contest Hmm his argument would work better by complaining she is a musical theatre star Grin

MrsJamin · 11/10/2017 07:27

Brenda needs to go, he's not great with his celebs and is too bitter about not getting the head judge role.

TheSassyAssassin · 11/10/2017 07:32

Twirling onto new thread. Fab title! Been away so watched SCD but not had chance to post. Thanks for the Monkseal link Gorge, def keep those coming, make me giggle too GlitterballGlitterballGlitterballGrin

MrsJayy · 11/10/2017 08:12

I really thought they would go for somebody we know as new head judge Karen would have been perfect I was hoping for Anton

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/10/2017 09:09

I think they need a waltz or foxtrot. Pretty ballroom where she does quite well, just to calm her down a bit! I feel like she's still panicking after the cha.

OP posts:
RhiannonOHara · 11/10/2017 10:07

They have given Charlotte some nasty dances, haven't they?! Didn't she do a rather nice waltz in her first week and get good comments?

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 11/10/2017 13:29

She did a perfectly acceptable foxtrot W1, albeit manhandled shamelessly by Brendan. But cha cha is a relatively easy dance if your pro doesn’t do anything stupid like putting in moves way beyond your ability. And jive doesn’t have to be too difficult with a canny choreographed.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/10/2017 13:43

I thought it was an American Smooth, but didnt actually check!

Cha cha is hard if you don't have a good sense of rhythm or get lost and can't pick it up again. No matter how easy the choreography, if you can't get your 4+1 in the right place you'll be stuck.

Am I the only person who thinks the glitterball emoji looks like a grenade

Must admit I thought it was rather a cross Hallowe'en turnip or mask. Glitterball

SoupDragon · 11/10/2017 14:33

A possible positive for Charlotte is that she’s got some tricky dances out of the way whilst there are still several Duffers in the competition to take the attention!

RhiannonOHara · 11/10/2017 15:21

Yes, Calman, of course, foxtrot. It WAS perfectly fine. His cha cha was very badly judged, in contrast. No wonder he got defensive about it when criticised by the judges.

Soup, yes, as long as she can get far enough! At some point the sympathy vote usually runs out.
