I'm sure there are many planning to watch this tonight but I can't see a thread, apologies if there is one.

Looks promising with good acting stock. I'm already worried about the implications for real life reporting and conviction rates if the female is lying. Got a feeling it won't be that black and white though.

Unashamedly place marking.
Enjoying it...despite the earring not found by police.

The80sweregreat · 19/09/2017 06:12

The ear ring was at his place. So now he will.know she's been snooping around. Surely school would have moved his son.from.her class after her facebook post?

AlpacasPackOwls · 19/09/2017 07:36

The police were only looking for drugs. They wouldn't care if there was an earing of the floor.

I like the theory that the sister has set all this up...

southeastdweller · 19/09/2017 07:59

The online posting sub-plot bugged the hell out of me last night. I kept wondering what she could have posted on, it can't have been Facebook as her post got so many shares and the public commenting, it didn't look like a site that was similar to Youtube, it wouldn't have been a newspaper...I realise writers can't mention real websites but I found this really distracting and yes I'm aware I'm taking this tosh far too seriously Grin

captainprincess · 19/09/2017 08:00

No, I guess they wouldn't care about an earring on the floor but as it was exactly where the police would have been whilst looking under the bed would they have at least not picked it up and put it on the side or something. (Probably not, but it annoyed me Grin)

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/09/2017 08:12

I thought it was a Facebook type thing as she said she put it on his profile. If your Facebook isn't private it can be shared anywhere but he could have just shut the thing down. Now I'm over thinking it too. Thanks southeastdweller Grin

The80sweregreat · 19/09/2017 08:22

He could have shut his account down, but it would still have been on her account, so others would still see it? I am not sure how facebook works, maybe he could have reported it and had it removed? I've seen things on facebook that have been shared numerous times and so on ( mostly about missing pets!) from all over the UK, so that bit seemed to be realistic. It can take a while for things to be taken down i think ( from what i've heard on the tv ) Not really sure, but she was still stupid to do it really and i still maintain that the police may have warned them both not to do anything on the internet.

Dowser · 19/09/2017 13:21

And the bad news is

They have commissioned a second series.
Why?

TheSerengeti · 19/09/2017 13:39

Insulin is very difficult to detect if used as a murder weapon. Combined with a decent 'suicide' story I think he murdered her and kept the near empty vial as a trophy.

I think we are meant to start disliking her and believing him. I think he did it.

Arghhh who knows?!

KurriKurri · 19/09/2017 14:11

I'm enjoying it too - although it has many flaws !
I think it is highly unlikely she would be allowed to continue teaching his son.

BeyondNoone · 19/09/2017 14:59

I guess if he dosed her with insulin, the resulting mental confusion might make it easier to dose her up with drugs (and for her to write a suicide note unintentionally) which then appears to be just a suicide? Or even it could cause a depressed mood (which hypoglycaemia can) and then she killed herself?

NameWithChange · 19/09/2017 15:07

I have a theory.

She was raped by Peter Davidson previously, accused him and he got away with it and trashed her reputation in the process.

This guy raped her too and she is so determined to prove it this time and not let him get away with it - hence the over-reaction on social media etc.

I think it will unravel and she will get some justice.

KurriKurri · 19/09/2017 15:12

I hope a second series doesn't mean we don't find out what happened this series. Where could a second series actually go with the story?

BeyondNoone · 19/09/2017 15:18

Second series could be completely different, but featuring eg the same investigating officers

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/09/2017 15:27

He couldn't have dosed her with insulin without her noticing. It has to be injected (and kept refrigerated, as someone has already pointed out).

The80sweregreat · 19/09/2017 15:38

Maybe he will get off - although he did it - and series two will be her revenge on him ? i dont know really - Broadchurch 2 wasnt as good as the first one , so i am hoping its better than that!

The80sweregreat · 19/09/2017 15:46

If he did murder first wife, why keep the evidence? what would be the point when it would be easy to dispose of?
The BIL is a bit of a background character, which makes me think he has more to do with it than it seems.

BeyondNoone · 19/09/2017 15:50

Yeah bore, dopey moment by Beyond there! Blush Though people have been murdered by insulin (generally those who are old or impaired though I think), so it could be technically possible?

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/09/2017 16:15

Would it be recorded as suicide if she died by insulin overdose? Did they say how the wife died? I remember mention of a note.

MargotLovedTom1 · 19/09/2017 16:19

I found myself too distracted by Ioan's blinding white teeth to concentrate on the plot.

MissEliza · 19/09/2017 17:38

I feel the last couple of episodes have been aimed at making her irrational and not likeable. On the other hand, he comes across as a pleasant and decent guy. It's almost like the writers want the audience on his side. Therefore I predict we'll find out he murdered his wife

LittleWitch · 19/09/2017 18:01

Is Ioann wearing a toupee?

RTKM · 19/09/2017 18:57

Just putting this out there ...........

Surgeon had *AMITRIPTYLINE IN HIS CUPBOARD which MUST NOT BE TAKEN WITH ALCOHOL

Should not drive or operate machinery* after taking any

It is also used as a sleeping tablet amongst other things even in very small doses

RTKM · 19/09/2017 18:58

It can cause confusion and be disoriented etc

VeryCunningStunt · 19/09/2017 19:00

The way he asked the HR woman (or whoever she was) whether she believed him was a tad pointed - mask slipped a bit?
