I'm sure there are many planning to watch this tonight but I can't see a thread, apologies if there is one.

Looks promising with good acting stock. I'm already worried about the implications for real life reporting and conviction rates if the female is lying. Got a feeling it won't be that black and white though.

I thought ligature too. I was disap

buggerthebotox · 17/10/2017 08:43

ppointed in the series overall.

My money's on the son. I agree with the comment about the Boss above. There's something about him-he's just too "nice" cynic.

eddiemairswife · 17/10/2017 08:54

Why didn't he keep the key to the shed, instead of leaving it at his mother's?

MsLumley · 17/10/2017 08:58

I think there must be two keys to the shed, one he has and keeps and Mia has the other set- otherwise it would look suspicious to Mia if he didn't let her have a set of keys.

"[His son, poor chap, will be ok, though: will start a new life with Gingerbread Dog Granny in Edinburgh. Their next-door-neighbours are Driveway Anna and Tom from Doctor Foster. The lads bond by sharing tales of deplorable parents]."

Thalia that is FAB!!! Grin

I too thought it was a crappity ending, prob hastily re-written to squeeze a 2nd series of £. I shall refuse to watch!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2017 09:37

Another ending of him tied up somewhere beaten up would have given a second series a good head start

Police will think he's vanished and then he can be torture by all the woman he raped

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/10/2017 09:52

Ah, but don't forget the wound's had 3 weeks in which to heal up a bit

Healing doesn't take place in death tissue though Thalia

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/10/2017 09:57

[His son, poor chap, will be ok, though: will start a new life with Gingerbread Dog Granny in Edinburgh. Their next-door-neighbours are Driveway Anna and Tom from Doctor Foster. The lads bond by sharing tales of deplorable parents]

I do like this idea though Thalia

(Have come to the conclusion that, as others suggested, it was supposed to be a ligature mark, despite the lack of bulging eyes and protruding tongue.Wonder why his executioner didn't dup his body in the water, though, to make it even less likely to be found. We will never know . . . )

FeralBeryl · 17/10/2017 11:38

What about lovely wronged husband of the sister? Could he have gone off the rails and be involved somewhere? What's the point of him being around - his appearance last night was completely uneventful Confused

KurriKurri · 17/10/2017 11:54

I think nice beardy new boyfriend did it - he saw Andrew when they were in the pub and he hunted him down.

BeyondNoone · 17/10/2017 12:30

Being called liar, my guess is it's gonna be one of the few people who weren't shown lying in S1.

I wonder too if it could be completely unconnected and it was the dad of his sons girlfriend? Found out he lied, maybe?

NancyDonahue · 17/10/2017 12:50

Could be gingerbread dog MIL. She would be heartbroken that her daughter killed herself because of her psychopath husband.

BeyondNoone · 17/10/2017 12:58

I wonder if her daughter was in the videos. Which were "leaked" to the press.

KurriKurri · 17/10/2017 12:58

Or ditto the son for the same reason Nancy - or son and MIL in conjunction (or son MIL and old business partner of dead wife).

The way this series ended, I suspect someone will find minute forensic traces of a little gingerbread dog at the scene of the crime Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 17/10/2017 13:20

Maybe he isnt dead? How can he come back? Unless its the missing piece of how he died that is the sequel?

Clawdy · 17/10/2017 13:26

Yes, the sequel is about the three weeks leading to the discovery of his body. He is seen in flashback.

hudyerwheesht · 17/10/2017 13:51

Re the point of her sister's affair - I thought it was so that Laura's ex would feel guilty enough to help her, if he hadn't had the affair he wouldn't have likely risked his police career that way.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 17/10/2017 15:59

Schadenfreude,
"Healing doesn't take place in death tissue though Thalia.

Yes, that wasn't one of my brightest thoughts, was it?!

And me a Silent Witness viewer, too... Blush

flissfloss65 · 17/10/2017 18:03

We've a long wait for series 2. According to local news they will start filming in January 2019!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/10/2017 18:06

Sometimes the excitement of the moment banishes all logical thought Thalia Grin

If you knew some of the stupid ideas I've come up with . . .

I loved your ideas for the next series - if the tv people do't use them they want shooting.

Fluffybrain · 17/10/2017 18:29

I think he's killed himself. He knows his career is over and he'll be sent to prison for along time. He wants to end his life but while he's at it he wants to get revenge on the person who has ruined his plans. He's set up some elaborate evidence suggesting that Laura has killed him. His body will be found in the place where Laura goes canoeing. So that even from beyond the grave he is lying.

WishingCarrot · 17/10/2017 20:38

Really enjoyed that episode. My heart was pounding when Laura was in the shed / car.

It was a set up by police I reckon. Knowing they’d never get a warrant to search the shed legitimately, they arranged for Mia to text the phone knowing Laura would / had obtained it. That way, Laura could bluff her way in and find the memory sticks.

Mia must have been ringing her contact - Vanessa maybe. I don’t reckon Mia was ringing Ioan.

Jill halfpenny murdered him. There was an evil glint in her eye at the end.

packofshunts · 17/10/2017 21:15

Still can’t get passed the weirdness of that male cop.

The way that last scene between him and Laura was filmed def struck me that he was v uncomfortable and trying to cover something up. Just me? Confused

ElizabethDarcey · 17/10/2017 22:31

Very disappointed by the ending. It's much too easy for him to just die in the end. I wanted to see the power reversed when he realises he's caught.

I realise we might get this in series 2 - him getting killed etc - but tbh since it's not even being filmed until January 2019 I'm going to have stopped caring long before then.

RhiannonOHara · 18/10/2017 10:39

Mia must have been ringing her contact - Vanessa maybe. I don’t reckon Mia was ringing Ioan.

I agree with this. It seemed very deliberate how we weren't shown who she was calling.

I think Jen killed him –she's military; she knows how to ambush people/subdue them/slit a throat neatly. Laura may well have suggested where to hide the body, although presumably Ness and Jen would know about the marshes anyway, seeing as they also live in the area.

I wonder if the son knew anything? When the cops turned up at the house and he said 'He's not here' I felt like he was hiding something.
